Star Wars VII Teaser Trailer Reaction Observations.

I got bored last night and spent a few hours watching Youtube videos of people reacting to the Star Wars VII trailer and decided to make some observations. I probably watched at least 100 videos, usually not watching past whoever it was actually watching the trailer. So I didn't stay for the after comments with very few exceptions. Here are some random things I noticed...

If there was a group watching, the one who was most excited about the trailer was the guy closest to 35. No exceptions. Didn't matter how many kids he was surrounded by, he was the guy freaking out the most.

If there was a family watching there was at least one person who was just happy for how excited the dad was who had no idea what was going on.

In large family group shots there was at least one person who was just there to be in the video shot for some reason who didn't give a fuck.

One girl cried in a reaction video out of about ten who did, the rest were all adult males over the age of 20.

The most common expression uttered was "Oh My God!" by far.

All of the self proclaimed Star Wars fangirls sounded like they were having great sex through the entire trailer.

About 80% of people jumped when Boyega popped onto the screen.

Roughly 80% of the people watching answered the question "Have you felt it?"

Incidentally, Boyega is definitely an actual a Storm Trooper. That isn't really in question at all despite speculation otherwise. I know this because he's a British actor and British actors are always Imperial in Star Wars. One thing I'm not certain of is that he may or may not join the Republic side. It's entirely possible that the Jedi are their own side in this new trilogy. Definitely 100% sure he starts out as an Imperial though.

I'm not convinced that Cuberbatch isn't the first voice we here in the trailer. It's possible Cumberbatch and Serkis were sharing the VO for the trailer. This could easily have been done to screw with us intentionally and keep his role a rumor while still putting him into the teaser. The most common reaction to the initial VO is "Cumberbatch".

The only time anyone looked even slightly worried was during the scene with the ball droid. That was a pretty rare reaction at that, most other people either had a grin or a child like giggle. It will now forever be known as the soccer ball/football droid. OCD hardcore fans should just accept that.

Apparently a lot of people thought there were no more Stormtroopers after Return of the Jedi. Not sure why, but okay.

Daisy Ridley's scene got the least reaction. Most commonly "WTF is that thing she's riding?"

The X-Wing scene was sick. That's universal.

The new lightsaber. Exactly one guy looked like he didn't like it. Everyone else pretty much freaked out and was amazed at how awesome it looked. The most common reaction was a wide eyed jaw drop, often with excitedly yelling "Ooooooh!"

When the Millennium Falcon appeared on screen the reaction was either a loud cheer with arms raised, or a huge grin. There were no exceptions to this. Often it was followed by excited pointing while exclaiming "The Millennium Falcon!" like an excited toddler who has just seen Mickey Mouse for the first time at Disney World.

About 40% of viewers were stunned into silence for at least a few seconds at the end of the trailer, most of the others had to catch their breath after watching for the first time.

This is, by far, the best reaction video of all of them.

In conclusion, Mrs. West-Kardashian, this is how you break the internet.

Honorable mention just because it's so damn funny...
