Hi! I'm Watashiwa. Most of you probably know me. I think I've posted at least once in every board on the forum, I run that Iron Fic contest thing you've probably seen around (though every year there are a few people who ask what it is...) and the forty or so of you who spend time on the IRC know me pretty well.
And now I'm admin. Jesus Christ.
Now that all the members of the newly elected moderation and administration team have had a chance to get used to their new control panels--and how different the forum works on higher permission levels, seriously I still can't get over the extra menus--I decided it was time to go over some official business and point out differences from the main site that you might have missed.
First off, the team is as follows:
Administrators: Watashiwa, The Ero-Sennin
Moderators: GenocideHeart, Souffle, and chronodekar
You should be able to recognize us by the fact that our names are differently colored, the fact that we all won internet popularity contests, and the fact that all of our avatars feature someone evil. Except chronodekar. Which is also funny.
Most of the time we're going to be posting and behaving as regular members--expect seriousness, trolling, rage, baiting, trollragebaiting and humor in whatever quantities you're used to seeing from us. There are two, maybe three, exceptions to this rule. The first is in the case of illegal content whether that be pr0n outside the lemon forum, advertising things other than fanfiction distastefully, spam, CP, death threats and anything else that'd get the FBI on us or convince icyboard to shut us down. Secondly, if someone files a moderation report, it is up to the responding moderator whether or not moderation action is necessary, and what retributive action to take. Moderators who take action are required to file a report in the Moderation Reports thread, with an edited copy of the moderation request and explanation of the action taken. If you feel you've been unfairly judged post on the Appeals board, specifying the action taken against you. Banned users have access to this forum.
The third case is one I am leery of, but I believe it is acceptable for moderators to edit or delete posts where a member's conduct is indisputably vile and outrageous. This, I hope, should prevent another diaper incident. If you don't remember what I'm talking about you're lucky.
In any of the above cases, or when issuing official warnings to a thread, moderators and admins will use a "flair", a specific colored text that matches their name. Admins will use green, bolded and italicized text , moderators will use purple bolded text. In all other circumstances they are talking as registered members, even in the case of warnings and advisements. So yes, you're perfectly in the right to ignore anything we say unless we're colored up. If we hit you for something we said in a normal post, get a screenshot and appeal.
Did you know we had a chat button? I sure as hell didn't. It's up in the header. Click it to jump straight to #TFF-mods, the only official TFF IRC. If you need a hand or want to bring something to our attention quickly, try that. Note that moderation requests are only processed if they come through the forum, we won't deal with anything we get on the IRC except illegal content and gross behavior.
We also have the ability to collapse forums and subforums! There's a horizontal bar on the right side of every thread title page. Click it and everything under that section is gone from your interface!
As you might realize, we're going to be opening new sub-fora and closing old ones. The rule is: if you think it'll be used, prove it and use it. Start a thread in the suggestion forum and if you get twenty supporters in a one day period you get your section on a trial basis. If you get a consistent amount of traffic and posts it stays.
Forums that are being removed will have all their posts moved, not deleted. A post will go up in each subforum under consideration before the move, giving posters the chance to prove that the section isn't dead. But since most subsections we're considering see two posts a month at best?
If you haven't already done so, add an e-mail account to your profile. They weren't brought over from oTFF, so if you want alerts or the ability to change profile information you need to add it again.
To end on a high note, we've got an arcade installed. Click the Games button on the header. The full list of all games we can install is in a thread by Shirotsume in the Suggestions Box.
That's all for now, I'll edit things in as they're brought up or occur to me. Thanks for the vote of confidence, TFF. WE'RE BACK!
