Suggestion: Boosting Our Google Placement

I approve. Personally, being forced to register to view a website I want to check out is something that annoys me.

The problem with hiding some forums from non-members is that they don't know those forums exist until they register.

Also, our general forums aren't exactly the best representation of what we do, or how we act.

I vote leave guests unable to see any boards unless they register. This forces them to make an account, and lets be honest- nearly all of our active posters probably never would have started posting if they didn't have an account before they decided to post the first time.

Shouldn't there be a way to show that we have 'ideas' and 'preview' sections that are closed to non-members?

And I didn't mean opening just the general section. I meant opening the 'Talk' sections across ALL the sub-boards. BUT, to keep 'Ideas' and 'Previews' to members-only.

True, a lot of us post now because of the 'forced' account, but I'd rather have meaningful people join up rather than the 70+% lurker population we have.

The only way would be to make 'fake' forums that don't link to anything and say "You must be registered to see the real forum!" and then set their permissions so only guests can see it.

That's a shitload of work for something that's kinda pointless though.

There could just be an announcement for guests that tells them that there are Ideas and Previews sub-forums that can only be viewed by members.

Announcements for guests only don't exist. The announcements we have now are coded from scratch.

We don't have access to the variables that would let us set up that logic either.

Someone should edit the TvTropes page, at the very least mentioning that the entire site did a transmigration, that Hawk isn't in charge anymore and an election has been held for admins and mods that actually do stuff. Oh, and add in a link to this site.
