Roughly 200 years ago, a strange machine was discovered in the depths of the Mexico Gulf, drawing the attention of humans back to space. The surprisingly advanced technology encountered within the broken down relic seemed to be the evidence needed to prove the existence of aliens, and a push was made by the government to try and use the technology in order to advance themselves to avoid any such risk of invasions.

With high expectations, human beings left Earth to begin a new life in newly-built space colonies, marking the end of an era and a new start. The creation of a special base in the Moon marks the start of the United Earth Sphere Alliance û UESA û and the creation of the æAfter ColonyÆ calendar. It was supposed to be an era of peaceà yet the faint specters of war remained.

In the year of After Colony 150, an enormous spacecraft crashed onto Earth. The spacecraft, later known as æMacrossÆ, was soon discovered to have alien technology as well, serving as an impetus for the technological arms race. It was not long until the next step in combat happened û the development of humanoid machines developed for anti-alien combatà and, subsequently, for regular warfare.

As the years passed, the UESA gained great military powers, thanks to the development of the units known as æMobile SuitsÆ. With forces such as its space-focused Variable Fighter æValkyrieÆ squadrons and the military force known only as æThe SpecialsÆ, it wasnÆt long until it began seizing control of one colony after another in the name of Justice and Peace.

The year is After Colony 195. ôOperation Meteorö: in a movement contrary to the UESA, rebel citizens of certain colonies plan to send in new weaponry to Earth, disguising them as shooting stars. However, the UESA headquarters discovers the operation, and initiate its preparations; meanwhile, at once, several different groups initiate their own operations, with various objectives.

Unbeknownst to all, the fighting that is to start will surpass all beforeà

Episode One:
The Shooting Star That She Saw

Oregon, North America

The night was beautiful.

It had been one of the few days, in the previous months, where there hadnÆt been any clouds in the sky. Not even the nearby military base had managed to produce enough pollution to create dirty clouds, this day, and the stars were all very visible. It formed a magnificent painting, if only one were to look at ità but tonight, nobody did.

That was why, for the first few moments, there was no indication of the following events.

High in the sky, too far from the ground, a short burst of light suddenly appeared, mostly unnoticed. It was too far from either landmass to be seen by the naked eye properly, and by the time one would have realized such it was gone. The brief light source was soon drawn by the gravity pull of Earth, however, and started to fall.

The landing wasnÆt perfect, yet it did not create any major craters; instead, the machine û for that was what it was û managed to control its speed for long enough, making use of its propulsion systems to force a slow down. Still, even then it could not sustain flight for long, as the pull was still severe and the swift deceleration had to happen in bursts. Upon touching ground, the internal stabilizers began their compensation, yet the machine remained in movement a moment too many, and could not help but topple. A safety feature shut down all systems for several minutes, as it began a cool down process during this period.

The machine itself was not beautiful; it was incredibly tall, with a massive build of armored parts, extremely thick and hardy-looking. There was an open holster on the left shoulder, but it was empty of its ammunition û likely missiles, given the frame û while the right shoulder held a collapsed cannon of some sort. Multiple armored covers seemed to protect special parts of the machine, even on the edges of the two huge shields located on the shoulders, and there was a holster on the side of the machineÆs waist, holding a rather large gun; the opposite side had a sheath containing a smaller knife. The feet of the machine were treads, protected by more bulky armor, and there was a rocket setup on each one. The head contained a cockpit, protected with special, light-filtering glass.

æàno sign of allied troops nearby.Æ

Slowly, the machine began powering up, from its prone position. æThe reentry was worse than I thoughtà I was too careless. Somehow the Time Flow Engine must have caused a system error, or worseà at least I managed to avoid burning up in the atmosphere, somehow.Æ

The pilot tapped a few key commands, before looking at the screen; the bare light displayed her feminine face, even now. æThis is not goodà itÆs been damaged. Unless itÆs fixed, I wonÆt be able to perform any other jumpsàÆ she concluded, her lips and eyebrows barely displaying her irritation. æOther systems are OKà but the reentry did its damage. Not to mention-Æ

Just then, her radar detected something high above the ground, and she looked in that direction. Up there, starting to become more visible was a bright white streak, crossing through the night sky. æàa shooting star?Æ she thought, almost idly, before her machine began standing up. æIt doesnÆt concern my mission, but the trajectory seems to be close. It should land in a few minutes.Æ

However, the sound of incoming machines drew her attention, and she moved the head to the side. Approaching her were several more machines û ones she recognized as Mobile Suits, just like hersà even if extremely antiquated models. They were part of her unitÆs database, and the registration code soon appeared.

æOZ-06MS Leoà so this world also developed them?Æ she wondered, before her machine began to turn around, and she prepared to activate her radio. æThis is good; I should be able to contact them, and then-Æ

ôWhat kind of Mobile Suit is that?!ö one of the pilots asked, interrupting her thoughts. ôIs it from the colonies?ö

ôIt might be related to Operation Meteor; it doesnÆt match with any of our units,ö another spoke up, a few moments later.

æOperation Meteor?Æ she thought, surprised. æSo itÆs happened already?Æ

ôAttention, uncategorized Mobile Suit pilot!ö the commander suddenly interrupted, drawing her attention again. ôExit the Mobile Suit at once!ö

æOrders to surrender?Æ she realized, surprised. æThis was not expectedà they are OZ units, arenÆt they? WouldnÆt they be more interested in contacting me?Æ A moment passed, before her signs of irritation returned. æOr, perhapsà their leader feels heÆll do better with my Mobile SuitàÆ

A moment passed, in silence, from both sides. She was sure they were talking to each other using their internal communications, most likely talking about her unit. The idea of simply surrendering it to them was, however, quite ridiculous; her mission depended on her being capable of using it. She was not interested in piloting something as useless as their current units, at any rate.

With a single button, her machine returned to full activity, an act that was not unnoticed by the LeosÆ pilots. ôAttack it now!ö the commander ordered, and all units took out guns from their holsters. She recognized those as beam rifles; long, one-handed weapons designed for destruction. They did not seem that threatening, butà

The beam shots were fired, headed towards her direction, even as the female pilot moved to avoid; however, the amount of shots fired was too much, and the Mobile Suit was intercepted. The many shots caused a brief explosion, with far too much smoke even for this.

As the smoke subsided, the LeosÆ pilots were surprised to see the unit, still intact. ôW-what?!ö one of them said, astonished, before several objects came out of it. A missile slammed onto his cockpit shortly after, exploding it.

The remaining missiles barely missed most of the other units, although they werenÆt without effect; aside from having to retreat, one of the units lost its arm in the process, and another had its beam rifle hit by the assault.

æEnemies successfully scrambled,Æ she thought to herself, as the missile holsters in her chest closed for reloading. æLinear Bazooka damagedà I had better not damage it further. The enemy Leos do not seem very mobile; the quickest way to defeat them would beàÆ

One of the Leos had retreated, while the others were preparing their weapons, the armless one not doing so yet.

æLinear Missile Launcher,Æ she concluded, her targeting system already centered on one of her opponents. The gun, located in a holster in her machineÆs hips, was taken out and centered in less time than it took for the Leos to adjust their aims, and from there it was only a matter of seconds before she fired. Multiple small missiles were quickly fired, scattering in multiple directions; the gun itself was not sufficient stable, and the recoil forced the loss of accuracy.

Still, the loss was not significant enough; every single crucial joint in the machine was struck, the cockpit exploding shortly before everything else did as well. The remaining three units had just finished aiming their beam rifles at her, when she aimed onto the next one.

Both sides traded fire, the Linear Missile LauncherÆs projectiles being consumed by the larger beams; still, many of them landed, another Leo crashing onto the ground prior to its explosion. æThree opponents left,Æ she thought, her frown growing. After all, she had taken even more unnecessary damage from these attacks. The Linear Missile Launcher would not cut it.

æThenàÆ she prepared, but something distracted her; namely, an explosion coming from the north, which she suddenly remembered was the direction the shooting star was heading towards.

ôW-what?!ö the leader of the units cried out, as they turned around. Smoke was visible in the distance, and the sudden panicked responses they let out were enough for her to realize it was probably their base.

æSomeone is attacking an OZ baseà the surroundings are far too green, as well,Æ she thought, soon realizing what that meant. æIf Operation Meteor has not happened yet, I have time to do something about it.Æ

Her thoughts ended there, as she took the chance to move forward. Replacing the thick gun on its holster, the machine took out the knife from its sheath and readied it, the treads quickly drawing attentionà not that it mattered to her.

While holding the knife, she pressed a different button, activating her machineÆs internal systems, and the boost seemed to be greater than before. The blade was swiftly inserted within one of her opponentÆs bodies, striking the chest and killing the pilot at once; the explosion that happened shortly after, however, did not even seem to affect her machine.

This was not unnoticed by the remaining two units, who seemed to be in a panic. ôW-whatà WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!ö the intact one cried out, before beginning to retreat. Even though she could not see him, the woman noticed the pilot of the second unit had extended its free hand, in an attempt to call for help.

ôWait! D-donÆt leave me!ö the pilot cried out, the voice revealing fear. However, the other unit ignored him, leaving him there to be destroyedà or so he had hoped, undoubtedly.

Two missile holsters were quickly activated, on her machineÆs shoulders, and it took her only a second to lock on and fire. The missiles traveled through the air swiftly, far larger than the previous set, and the damaged unitÆs pilot thought he was done for.

However, the missiles all missed him, even if barely, and set off to collide against the retreating unit. The pilot only had time to hear the missile lock warning before being consumed in the explosion of his own machine. The other pilot looked on, in awe.

ôHeà heÆs too strongàö he realized, before seeing the machine approach him. ôNoà no, NOOO-ö

His last cries were silenced at once, as the knife perforated through his machine as well. Not even a second passed, before the LeoÆs systems shorted, explosions raging throughout its body, consuming it in a single blaze.

The female pilot didnÆt take long to sheathe her knife again, staring at the destruction in the battlefield. æàall enemies destroyed,Æ she surmised, having already rationalized why she had just murdered that last pilot. He had seen her kill the rest of his allies. Had she let him live, he would certainly have revealed her presence much sooner than she needed to.

She kept a cool expression, even as she continued to tell herself that. æDamage levelsà acceptable, for combat purposes,Æ she admitted, a moment later; the readings were rather bad, truth be said. æJamming systems onl-Æ

The sound of electrical crackling was enough to halt her thoughts, and she saw one of the green lights in her cockpit turn into a red one. æàjamming systems offline,Æ she decided, changing the original wording.

That was bad; without her jammer, she wouldnÆt be able to hide from any other Mobile Suits, much less any army base û and, unless she was wrong, there were likely many bases in the surroundings. It was true that her mission included infiltration, but that had never been her strong suit. She was no lover of combat, but between facing an army on her machine and having to take a roleà she would rather face the entire army.

The only thing she knew was that she should leave at once, so as to not be affiliated with the massacre that had just happened; it was fairly obvious that she would be in trouble, were anyone to find out about it.

No, the chapter is not complete. Far from it... I'm planning on including a lot of the main characters. At the very least... the rest of the relevant events from episode one of Gundam Wing.

Still, so far, do you people have opinions?

Nifty.

It has been awhile, though... so I'm not too sure if this is Lamia, or maybe Fiona, given the Time Flow Engine's been mentioned.

I'm betting on Miss 'Overly Polite Maid due to damaged speech module', though. She's calm enough to take GW's early one-sided curbstomps this stoically.

But why's she piloting Laz Angriff instead of Ashsaber?

Shadow Mirror hijinks, go!!

It'd be fun if he was instead using Lamia's expy Aschen from Endless Frontier...

I don't think Aschen needs a mecha to kick ass. And, well, those were Leos.

The description of the OG robot sounds like the Gunner Frame of the Excellen, but the pilotwas too cold to be Fiona. Maybe the Shadow Mirror version of Calvina?

GenocideHeart:

Aschen's a pure ground combat model. I don't recall if she (and 01-09) were programmed with Personal Trooper piloting abilities, or infiltration capability like the later (10 and up) W-Series.

Although, GenkiGirl!Lamia/Aschen is always hilarious.

alansg:
Actually, stated in-game in EF, all of the heroes were not happy at the prospect of facing 20+ meter tall super robots one day if things went badly enough for another full-blown Formido Heim war, unlike the ~3 meter reverse-engineered versions they'd run into thus far.

And I checked: Linear (Missile) Launcher / Bazooka are definitely Laz Angriff weaponry. I'm surprised; after looking back into the Story Idea thread, the original plan was for Lamia to gain Ashsaber as her starting mech, and later upgrade to Angelg.

EDIT: Also, Excellence, not Excellen. Though I wouldn't mind a pilotable Personal Trooper version of Ex-nee-sama one bit (ala Valcione). :yay:

Yes, it is the Laz Angriff. I am aware that it is not the Ashsaber, but... eh, the idea that Duo would go 'aw, man, now there's TWO of them' once he saw the Heavyarms was too much to ignore. And also, no Alpha Originals means no Carla/Yuuki so nobody uses the tank. And besides, Lamia has one less point in melee than Axel has and...

...well, the Laz needed more love anyway! I didn't know it looked so much like the Gunner Frame...

The only thing I'm not sure to go on about, on this side, is whether to have Duo encounter her being attacked by the OZ units or she comes upon him.

...anyway! Next excerpt is going to be about Australia!

Australia: where the fauna scares even Mobile Suit units. :snigger:

Seriously, imagine finding a funnelweb spider in your cockpit. :rip1:

SUPER ROBOT TAISEN PORTABLE

Episode One:
The Shooting Star That She Saw

Space Military Academy, Australia

It was morning. The morning practices had started already, with many of the planes having already taken off in formations and the remaining ones were preparing themselves for their flight.

The First Australian Space Military Academy was located several kilometers away from the capital, at a strategic location. Possessing the most modern fighters of European design and funded by the UESA, it was one of the most comparable forces the country could offer. Additionally, the VF-1 Valkyrie pilots in their force were highly qualified, and all these capacities made Australia a significant power in the end of the century.

Among the pilots already in the air was a young, black-haired man, who seemed rather distracted. ôMaaà when are we finally going to end these practices?ö he let out, irritated, as he finished a particularly easy routine. ôI didnÆt become a pilot to do patrolsà I want to fight something, anythingàö

As he was talking to himself, however, he caught sight of an oncoming truck, which lacked any actual government markings. That had been enough to pique his interest, and the young man considered going out to see what was happening; however, he wasnÆt exactly willing to risk being sent to peel yet another hundred thousand potatoes just to find out.

Patrolling itself wasnÆt that interesting; they werenÆt practicing new maneuvers, nor were they actually fighting someone, and it was nearly an hourÆs worth of patrol for several kilometers on the same terrain as always. By the time the unit began landing once more, the young man felt like he was going to fall dead from boredom. æI canÆt take ità the last time weÆve done mock combat was a month ago! WeÆve been practicing for so long and nothing happens! I thought joining the army would have been a lot more interesting, but all we do is practice, practice, practice

With a groan, he forced the landing, his machine skidding for several meters as the wheels tried to compensate for the sudden contact at high speed. Despite the awkwardness of the situation, however, he seemed to be perfectly okay with the maneuver, quickly adjusting it so that he could make use of this position to slide along the airstrip, avoiding the rest of the unit.

It wasnÆt until he was nearing the end that he caught sight of a civilian, who had just entered the airstrip from a building. ôGET AWAY!ö he cried out, angrily, forcing a sharp turn. The civilian could only jump back in, nervous, before the airplane managed to halt as well.

Opening the cockpit, the pilot quickly jumped out, landing down with practice. ôHey, what were you doing there?ö he asked, and the young man he was talking to blinked, from his position on the floor. ôDonÆt you know itÆs dangerous to walk out on an airstrip?ö

ôW-what?ö he replied, in English, before shaking his head. ôI didnÆt think thatàö

ôWell, it definitely is!ö the pilot admonishedà before seeing the civilianÆs companions; a woman with long, pink hair and a pale man with brown hair. ôSara! Shapiro!ö

ôFujiwara Shinobu, why are you disturbing our latest recruit?ö the man asked, as he looked him over. ôI wouldnÆt expect you to be very helpful, but frankly, this is inferior even for you.ö

ôOh, shut your mouth!ö he replied, getting angry. ôI was just finishing my patrol! HeÆs the one who got in my way!ö A moment passed, before he went on. ôAnd why werenÆt you two in it, either?ö

ôHow rudeàö the woman replied, adjusting her hat. ôYou should be more respectful towards your superiors, Shinobu!ö

ôI respect my superiors well enough!ö he replied, but before the argument could progress, the civilian had just managed to stand back up, his black hair messed up a bit from the shock.

ôUhà excuse me!ö he declared, after a moment, before starting to speak in Japanese. ôIt was my fault for walking out there, right? Soà if I apologize to mister pilot, itÆll be okay, right?ö

ôWell, itÆs not like you really messed anythingàö the pilot said, before snapping a finger and pointing at himself. ôBut call me Fujiwara Shinobu!ö

ôFujiwaraà okay!ö the civilian replied, before clearing his throat quietly. ôMy name is Steinfeld Eliott. It is nice to meet you!ö

ôàyour name isà what?ö Shinobu blinked, in surprise. ôYouÆre not Japanese, so why-ö That was enough to embarrass the young man, who had to take a few breaths to recover.

ôO-okayà itÆs Eliott Steinfeld. S-since youÆre Japanese, I thought-ö

ôOh, greatàö the pilot groaned. ôJust forget about it, alright?ö

ôShinobu!ö Sara snapped, as they watched him leave. ôOh, I canÆt stand him!ö

ôLet him go, Sara.ö The response came from their side, and she turned to see Shapiro shake his head, futilely. ôFujiwara is enough of a foolà we shouldnÆt bother with him much, unless we want to turn into fools as big as he. For now, we should probably go back to our tasks, as well.ö

ôUhà what about me?ö Eliott asked, then, and he nonchalantly did an action that seemed like a shrug.

ôYouÆve been officially inducted. Head towards the simulators so that you may receive training,ö he said, voice serious. ôNow, if youÆll excuse usàö

ôShapiro, are you sure-ö Sara asked, but Shapiro looked at her, a serious tone in his gaze.

ôSara, he has already been briefed on his position in base and what heÆll be doing here,ö he said, voice also serious. ôWe cannot keep coddling every single soldier that arrivesà or else we will be known as an inferior force. And that, I cannot accept.ö

As Shapiro and Sara left, Eliott stared at them, a bit disappointed. ôMouà here I was thinking that joining the army would actually be different from this,ö he let out, before looking back at the area he was in. ôMaybe I should have joined the Navyàö

Before she could do something, however, the sound of a machine approaching drew her attention.

Coming towards her was some sort of humanoid Mobile Suit, with a black cloak of some sort covering its body. The design itself wouldnÆt have been that surprising, as humanoid machines û the Mobile Suits û were common technology; however, the headÆs shape was one that made her frown. To make things worse, she could tell that there was some sort of jamming system active, keeping her from actually tracking the unit down on her radar.

ôWell, well, well, what do we have here?ö the pilot asked, as he undoubtedly saw her unit, making her consider attacking it as well. ôAn unidentified Mobile Suit, attacking OZ forces?ö

The voiceÆs amusement was apparently sincere, and a moment of silence made her hold her thoughts. ôRelax, buddyà IÆm on your side,ö the pilot included, sounding more cheerful now. ôIf weÆre both fighting against the OZ, then we might as well fight together, wouldnÆt you say? And you look like you took a beatingà I wouldnÆt mind helping you out!ö

It took her a few moments to agree, reluctantly, that that made some form of sense. Additionally, if the pilot trusted herà it would be easier to deal with the pilot later, when she had a better chance of attacking.

ôNow, thenàö the voice from the other Mobile Suit spoke, drawing her attention. ôWhy donÆt you introduce yourself?ö

The woman remained silent for a few moments, her mind analyzing the machine. Her own had suffered rather severe damage during reentry, and her ammunition stocks were lower than expected. Escaping could have workedà were it not for the Mobile SuitÆs jamming systems. And considering how skilled the other pilot wasà

ôàmy nameà Lamia,ö she eventually announced, eyes closed. ôàthank youà for helping with meà will I.ö

ôàhuh?ö the stranger said, confused; now, she could tell how young the person on the other side was. ôWell, whatever you say! YouÆre welcome!ö

She began to turn away, but a loud noise coming from the knee joint distressed her, and drew the strangerÆs attention. ôHey, where do you think youÆre going? ThereÆs nothing over there but dead people now!ö he told her, drawing her attention. ôWhere did you come from, anyway?ö

Slowly, she moved her machineÆs arm towards the direction they had come from. Smoke was still rising from there. ôThereà used to be my home,ö she said, sounding disappointed. ôBut units from OZ listened of suit, andàö

ôWhoa, whoa, whoa!ö the stranger suddenly interrupted. ôYouÆre not very good with Japanese or something?ö

ôàno,ö she relented, figuring it would be the easier explanation. ôWhoà are you?ö

ôI am the God of Death, Duo Maxwell!ö he introduced himself, then. ôAnd if you need a place to fix your Mobile Suità well, you can come along with me for that. It shouldnÆt take you long.ö

ôàunderstood,ö she replied, shutting down the external comm.. æThat machineà it has to have been the one in the OZ baseà and the state of the surroundings makes it clear there hasnÆt been such destruction as IÆve seen. And yetàÆ

Her hands tightened around the controls, even as she and Duo began to take off. æThis machineà the shape, the colors, the weaponsà itÆs undeniable.

æItÆs a Gundam.Æ
