This is an idea I keep trying to work out. The main idea is that Dooku planned a retribution against Palpatine incase of betrayal and left an assassin among the clone troopers, one specifically created to aid in eliminating Palpatine.
As Mace and co attempt to arrest Palpatine, the assassin fires an entire load of rockets from a gunship into the Chancilors office and kill Palpy as Mace and co are preparing to enter who are killed when the assassin plows the gunship into the building as well.
From there I have a few plot points.
Without Palpatine to manipulate Anakin, Skywalker breaks away from the Jedi after it is revealed that he is married. The ex-Jedi decides that the council won't control him and travels to various places from the history of the Jedi and decides that the current Jedi are not as they should be and forms his own version of the council based more around the KotOR/TotJ era Jedi when Jedi were allowed to live more normally. This could also create another Jedi Civil War on top of everything else.
The Clone War continues, actually heating up with Palpatine's death and the Seperatists having Greivous as their main military leadership and is given the time to actually be repaired because of the time given by the assassination of Sideous.
The main character wouldn't be the main ones seen in the movies from that point on. I was thinking about using several of the EU characters from the games like the pilots from Starfighter/Jedi Starfighter and characters from other things. Could be interesting to use the KOTor thing to and have Reven get dumped into it as well
