Bleach Swing The Blade Down

An idea IÆm working on which came about when I considered that the Fullbring arc would have been better had it been placed before the Soul Society. That way thereÆd be a natural progression of conflict and gives the opportunity to empower the rest of IchigoÆs friends.

The divergent point here is during the Grand Fisher fight. IchigoÆs anger, desperate and desire to fight allow him to release bursts of spiritual power like he did with Renji, going so far as to see and hear the faint image of a man in a black coat. After a brief discussion, he steps it up a gear, preventing Grand FisherÆs escape and managing to pull off a win. That death catches the attention of Aisslinger, an imperfect arrancar who was an acquaintance of Grand Fisher who decides to observe Ichigo.

The power increase has an effect of IchigoÆs perpetual reiatsu and hastens the contamination of his friends. This does not go unnoticed by Ishida who decides to reveal himself far earlier than he did in canon and challenges Ichigo for a match the following weekend.

The match starts and the pair end up moving around town to kill all the hollows. IchigoÆs friends become involved and awaken their respective power as a means of self-preservation. UraharaÆs group finds them and he prepares to take them under his wing. Thanks to RukiaÆs advice, Ichigo manages to haphazardly reduce his reiatsu which prevents the worst-case scenario from occurring. The match ends, the other humans learn about the spiritual world and Ishida unknowingly becomes a member of the group.

Whilst the Menos Grande incident is avoided, Ichigo is eventually ambushed by Aisslinger who plans to devour him for more power. He only survives and wins thanks to him learning the name of his zanpakuto and pulling off his first instinctual Getsuga Tensho.

And that sets the opening stage. Following this is the entrance of Xcution, a group of Fullbringers who seek out talented individuals to join their ranks and, failing that, stealing their power for themselves. TheyÆve even gone so far as to murder shinigami in the human world whilst making it seem they were killed by hollows. Their recruitment of IchigoÆs pals doesnÆt work out and conflict followsà

ThatÆs the gist of it.

To clarify, in this story IchigoÆs zanpakuto has the spirit of Zangetsu but the sealed form of Sode no Shirayuki as it exists through the conduit of RukiaÆs shinigami powers (though the tassels are Zangetsu). Ichigo being able to learn ZangetsuÆs name in that state was something I considered after seeing Renji ask if Ichigo knew the name of his zanpakuto, despite it only being a borrowed power. ItÆs possible that ZangetsuÆs design could change as a result of that or if Ichigo awakens Zangetsu for the first time whilst in human form, depending on how I do that part.

Anyway, any thoughts?

Ichigo would likely achieve Bankai during his training with Urahara. He'd likely not use it for a while, but during his fight with Byakuya he'd reveal that he was no longer break his bones from use, thereby gaining an easy win.

This is actually a rather clever divergent point, and allows things to develop via the framing up of the core group and getting to understand each others powers first (And maybe develop them even further) before we get into the heavy conflict of Soul Society where the power level's skyrocket to absurdity. I'm actually rather stunned I didn't consider the possibility of placing an arc before SS for this express purpose.

Anyway I'm going to be presuming a few things here. Given our extensive work in the create an ability thread to frame up ideas and concepts for the sub members of the group I'm assuming the concept is also going to bring them into the fold as well correct?

Obviously this will drastically inflate the group size, but you can easily counterbalance this via using teamup matches. Which will be especially helpful for the comparatively 'newer' members with those with all of one battles more experience in cases. Depending on what abilities you ultimately end up with (And considering how many potentials we both made for many of them that's going to be fun to narrow down :sweat2:), going for teamwork potential may be much more fruitful for the short run.

Of course that's just before we get into SS where each will ultimately have to come into their own. And given the development this arc will attempt to give them, that might actually make the flow into that much more natural. :sisi:

I notice you're using my concept for a Full Bring group, which is definitely an intriguing way to set this up. Obviously because of this (And the goal being to actually set up the characters) Tsukishima in general is probably out of the question, lulzy as his interference is. Would this mean the others, who were hard to gauge in general power level wise are out of the question too? Chad vs. Jackie could be rather fun, and Ishida vs. Time Guy is the kind of bullshit he usually has to deal with. Or worse Yukio. :ph43r:

However I suppose, depending how you spin it, this could be a Sub Group of the much larger unit that is Xcution, and could allow for some foreshadowing of the bigger leagues to show up later down the line. Perhaps after the SS arc there's another arc following where Xcution makes its return and is out to destroy the group from within this time. :snigger:

Though admittedly this depends on how complex you want to make things. Would have to see more of the framework before we hammer down more specifics. A solid construct you have already though, just need to build up the framework properly.

@zeebee: Ichigo achieving bankai before heading to SS was something I was planning on. At that stage he wouldnÆt be immune to its side-effects but he'd know to avoid pushing his body past its limits.

@Omega: Your assumption is correct. :sisi:

For this story Tatsuki, Keigo, Mizuiro and Chizuru will be becoming members of the main group. IÆm working with the ideas from the ability thread but itÆs a task and a half decided who gets what power and IÆm frequently making changes. ItÆd be easier without including Chizuru but IÆm interested in her personality and she was awake during the war. IÆll need to make a final decision on that soon.

YouÆve addressed a fair few points IÆve been considering myself. The team-up idea works and thatÆs more or less what Kubo did with the vizards once they joined the war. Especially since four members of the group have very limited experience in combat, other than Orihime being a black belt. The Fullbring arc gives them a good opportunity for growth and would help turn them into a proper group before things get serious.

I wondered about having the Fullbringers appear before and after SS but ultimately decided to have it all done beforehand, the end of that conflict leading in to Rukia returning to SS. Xcution will be a mixture of canonical and original characters since theyÆre been more interesting in recruitment this time and is gives more diversity to the conflict.

IÆll probably drop Riruka and Time Guy due to how awkward their abilities are (EDIT: Though I could weaponise certain aspects such as Riruka using a berserk plushy and Time Guy beefing up after certain time limits). Since IÆm not interested in redoing the memory alteration aspect of that arc, I plan to have Tsukishima use the ability he was originally stated to have by Ginjo i.e. a sword that can cut through anything. Chad vs Jackie was a fight IÆve been interested in seeing for a while; itÆs a shame it never happened in the manga.

HereÆs the barebones of the Fullbring arc of the story: Ichigo meets with a couple of Fullbringers who attack him thinking that heÆs a regular shinigami. They end up retreating and soon after more members of Xcution enter Karakura. Members of the organisation meet up with Ichigo, apologising for the actions of others and start encouraging him and his group to think about joining them.

Cue the Karakura group meeting various Xcution members and all the interactions between them. Ichigo remains suspicious after their first encounter and ends up meeting with Urahara. He discovers that shinigami have been disappearing under strange circumstances which causes Ichigo to think back to how he was initially attacked.

Soon after, he rejects the offer to join Xcution and tells them to leave his Karakura. ThatÆs when the Fullbringers true colours come out as they attempt to steal the powers of him and his friends.

Something like that anyway. Bear in mind I came up with half of that on the spot so I'll be working on this today. :p

Interesting concept. Kind of hoping Riruka doesn't get left out, though.

Shouldn't be a problem. :sisi:

The problem I had with her is easily rectified so she'd be part of the group. She'd be one of the more interesting ones since she wouldn't agree with Xcution's actions but would be unwilling to leave the people like herself.

I think I've finally settled on the abilities for the protag's which had been driving me to distraction for a while. Anyone interested in brainstorming some ideas for the Xcution and Soul Society arcs since I'm open to suggestions?

Hmm, which members/former members of Xcution might go to Soul Society with them, to help rescue Rukia?

No. Did you read what he wrote? They'd still be the bad guys. They'd be power hungry monsters who lured in Shinigami so they could commit murder and become more powerful.

Yeah that's the general gist I got from it. I suppose you could pull a Vegeta and have a few 'good eggs' among the bunch, but I'd restrict that to like one person tops given the general premise. Jackie's actually a good bet, if only because thanks to her backstory being the only decent one among the lot of them, she was literally the ONLY one who was compelling by the end of that arc. Well other than Moe anyway. :snigger:

Though even then I wouldn't suggest it for straight after the very arc where they were villains. Maybe for the whole training phase one of them could show up and try to help with that part. Certainly if Jackie came to help Chad out that'd be more fruitful than attempting it with Yoruichi, since their powers are more in line with each other. Maybe they could actually learn something from each other with it.

Speaking of training, in addition to the buddies starting off with a bit of a head start, I'm assuming both Chad and Orihime start off with a decent advancement too correct? If anything, to give them a bit of a lead.

Though granted technically they might not need them, since honestly both Ishida and Chad started off that arc stronger and more well rounded than Ichigo. But it would be nice if they don't get so easily sidelined like they were once he completely outstripped them with the bankai training. :hmm:

I wasnÆt planning for the Fullbringers to be all that significant after their arc, tbh. Their actions both towards IchigoÆs group and everyone else they harmed put them firmly in the villain category, and even the ones who disapproved of their actions are still accomplishes. ItÆs possible one or two of them might remain in Karakura but I donÆt plan for them to become part of the main group. IÆm still planning how the second half of that arc progress anyway.

Jackie and Chad being friends and training together was something I considered for post-SS though the way IÆve set up their powers, I donÆt think sheÆd be able to keep up with the protags. I could probably get around that given the obvious link between ôdirtyö boots and possible earth manipulating but I donÆt want to deal with too many main characters. ThatÆs the reason IÆve decided against including Chizuru, otherwise I feel itÆd cause bloating in numerous scenes. For training purposes, I think IÆll be making use of the Vizards instead.

Generally, I donÆt intend for the humans to get sidelined like they did in the manga. Chad, Orihime and Ishida will be reaching certain points in their abilities before they did in the manga thanks to greater experience and more fights, and theyÆll surpass their manga counterparts too. The other humans will be developed and keep up in terms of power-level. The abilities they end up using are the ones in the ability creation thread (though I've made changes to some) so you can get the overall idea of how I plan to do things. One of the main points for the fic is that the group of humans become a real group of spiritual fighter so theyÆll become a genuine force to be reckoned.

I was wondering what the thought is on using something like this for Ishida. I thought it might make for an interesting change and would provide a source of power development.

Also, I was considered how to classify the abilities of the protag i.e. are they wholly unique or a type of Fullbring and ended up redefining what a Fullbringer is for this story:

A Fullbringer is a type of a human who has awakened their spiritual power in life, granting them unique abilities and the power to manipulate the soul of matter. For example it can be used pull on the soul of a liquid to help a person drink it, pulling the soul out of the asphalt to make it more elastic or to even be able to walk on water by pulling on its soul to solidify it. This is essential for their version of high-speed movement and it can also be used to amplify their jumps by Fullbringing the ground or accelerating mid-jump by Fullbringing the air. These movements create a phenomenon known as bringer light around their fight.

The nature of a FullbringerÆs personal abilities differs for each person as they are based on their soul. Some powers manifest spirits like a Shinigami, some causes physical changes like a Hollow and others produces a certain type of ability which the user develops themselves.

Of this group of special humans, they exists a specific type known as Material Fullbringers. These are Fullbringers whose powers originate from their mothers who encountered a Hollow prior to their birth. Instead of manifesting powers based upon the nature of their soul, they form of an affinity with a certain object and awaken their power through that instead, causing their ability to be based upon the shape and meaning of their chosen objects. Due to this, their Fullbring powers cannot grow and stop once they reach a certain point.

However they also possess an ability that regular Fullbringers do not. They are able to steal the spiritual powers of others and use it to empower their own abilities or transfer it to another Fullbringer, meaning that they can expand their strength indefinitely.
To specify, IchigoÆs group would be examples of ôpureö Fullbringers whilst Xcution would be ômaterialö Fullbringers. Any thoughts on that would be appreciated.

Hmm, I should probably get started on this really soon anyway since the opening arcÆs been planned in full already.

That's actually part of the reason I focused on support type abilities for quite a few of them. Chizuru and Mizuro most prominently, the later of which I didn't even really give any decent kind of offensive capacity. Were I to design an arc along these lines and went with that specific 'Negation Archive' skillset we designed, I'd actually have him not actually enter Soul Society with them on the cannon thing (Assuming I still went with that, I might actually cut that part and the whole Kukaku/Ganju/Kaien subplot since overall it was rather worthless and I never ended up giving a shit), and instead have him hiding out on the outskirts using his ability to try and drive things more smoothly with scanning and planning routes and whatnot.

Which in turn would help immensely in say Chad avoiding a fight with friggin Shunsui. Or actually getting the team back together (if they end up split at all depending how things go). Christ, Chad and Ichigo almost met up at one point but he bolted before he found out who blasted the line of shinigami chasing them away.

Basically the idea is you can still give the characters stuff to do without necessarily needing to have them get in one on one fights to showcase their awesome. And a lot of the time this could actually serve their purposes a lot better.

For example, Jackie could help train Chad prior to SS, and in the process maybe develop something like an ability to slip through earth/stone with her powers. Nothing fantastic for combat purposes since her core strength is the same, which won't cut it past Vice Captain but fantastic for say infiltration/spying purposes. Which could be brought up later in the arrancar arc or something.

I suppose I simply find it difficult to motivate myself in having the characters use abilities that focus on support rather than combat, though thinking on it my Mizuiro actually fills the support role quite well. Hell, I could actually do that stat booster concept you were interested in beforehand by using KeigoÆs power in a certain way (assuming I keep it as it is). :hmmm:

Anyway, I wasnÆt planning on every character regularly having one-on-one fights so I wanted to establish there being a significant different between two halves of the group. Ichigo, Chad, Uryu and Tatsuki are natural fighters whilst Keigo, Mizuiro and Orihime being are fighters more out of necessity. This is partly due to their abilities and partly due to their personalities.

The closest comparison to how the team is set up would be the Vizards where thereÆs a clear gap due to some being captains and some being lieutenants, meaning theyÆd often fight in pairs or something similar.

ItÆs ironic that you mentioned certain changes to the SS arc that I was already thinking of. They wouldnÆt necessarily need to use KuukakuÆs cannon this time and everything related to that conflict could be done after RukiaÆs saved (and perhaps outlining the potential relationship between Ichigo and Kaien). Yoruichi or Urahara should be fully capable of giving IchigoÆs group intel on SeireiteiÆs layout as well as the captains, even if parts of it may be outdated. ItÆs kinda ridiculous that this never happened but it was probably for the sake of storytelling.

Seems I had a misunderstanding since I didnÆt realise you meant for Jackie to train with Chad before SS. That would actually work quite well since I wondering how they all would train between Urahara, Yoruichi and Tessai. In terms of how useful they are, Yukio would also work well for training purposes since his Fullbring is ideal for that (the disadvantage of that is that he's a prick ^_^ ). Riruka too, given the slight changes I plan on making to her power.

I anyone else seeing Shinigami Hollow parallels here?

1---
Except that now instead of Shinigami(Pure Fullbringer) being the one with the cap it's the Hollows(Material fullbringer).

If that were the case normally(Shinigami vs. Hollows) it would make more sense and be really awesome.

Now the Shinigami have a reason for being such dicks to Hybrids. Arrancars have found a way past the cap they have, even if they did it to avoid losing their identity/mind/individuality. Vizards can steal abilities.

Somebody who's better at writing should make a fic before I do and ruin it forever.

2---
Ichigo being Shinigami/Hollow is he pure or material? Why can't Ichigo do both? Because the Universe fucking with him is never going to stop. Lol.

On the Pure/Material full bringer bit, a bit of an issue I see with this is that Orihime pretty much fully classifies as a material full bringer no matter how you slice it. The entire basis for her power comes from her hairpins, which keep in mind were given to her by her brother prior to his death, so their import was already a given in her case.

Granted, she does end up manifesting what is basically Zanpakuto spirits with them which technically none of the other Full Bringers actually do. Though what they do is varied and absurdly hax in cases, just enough that something similar isn't out of the question. Basically if you're trying to boil down the distinction between her and material full bringers it's going to be a tad harder than just saying she is with that rather vague distinction qualifying it.

Also, since most of our stuff in the Ability thread was full on advancements or improvements to what's already in canon, I should probably suggest checking out some of the games for interesting abilities you might want to use to generalize a bit. Sadly Bleach doesn't have the Naruto Ninja storm levels of absurd Ougi's, but it does add a few interesting 'general' abilities to help beef a few of them up.

For example, one of Orihime's general moves in the game is the ability to actually move her triangle shield to slam onto or push enemies back rather than using it as a stationary shield, which will give her some viability before going into Kekkaishi shenanigans. Chad in the same game, Heat the Soul, has a rather interesting Shoulder check sort of 'barrier wave' ability with his base arm in those games, which actually I used as a base for La Muralla and La Carga. Certainly something basic to beef him up before going for the full arm upgrades.

On a similar note he has a super punch tech that's a tornado like burst of energy that does consecutive damage that's fairly interesting as well, though I'm not sure if going the Toriko Ren Punch sort route with him is viable since such an approach might better suit Tatsuki.

Hell, there's this really old obscure game that has named general super attacks for the lot of them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mu7VxVK2XFY

Though they're nothing spectacular. :sisi:

Yeah, Orihime's similarity to the Material Fullbringers was something that bugged when I first came up with it. I might try to address that within the story itself using Urahara since he'll have a fair bit of information on the nature of Fullbringers.

If the others point out that Orihime's powers are like those of Xcution, Urahara could mention that her abilities are closer to a Shinigami's and that her hairpins were more like the equivalent of their zanpakuto. Similar to how Shinigami use an asauchi to begin with but is later inhabited by their zanpakuto spirit (that's what I assume happens in the academy for most studnets, btw). :hmm:

Thanks for the video link. I read that certain characters used different abilities in the games but had never seen a description for them.

Yeah, if you're trying to make her distinct, playing off how Hachi compared her hairpin to a Zanpakuto is probably your best bet. Though honestly the abilities are already a mess in canon, how in the hell does full bring, which is basically similar to a Shinigami's Zanpakuto power mixed with the Quincy's ability to manipulate ambient spirit particles equate to hollows in the first place.

Also yeah, if you want to flesh some of the earlier stages out for certain characters, it's often easiest to try what they have in game, since those tend to be premade to add balance. And depending how good they are can lead to getting some interesting material.

Sadly it's also a pain to find since the characters I like are often the ones who no one uploads videos for or worse, are cut from the game. How the hell does goddamn Rukia make it into Bleach: Soul Resurreccion when she's barely a mook and Chad doesn't?

Christ if it's about who fought in that part of the arc, which granted she faught the tree guy semi solo because bullshit, Ishida made it too, and his last fight was around where Chad's was.

Ignoring the scientist guy, but both he and Mayuri were cut too. Friggin hell...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipxRvRaiqTI&feature=related <-Also this has the shoulder check barrier tech I was talking about that Chad has in these games.

The only relation I can see between Fullbringers and Hollows is because they're the only race that deals with the entire soul. Shinigami use a part of their soul as a weapon, Quincy play with spirit particles but Hollows devour and are composed of whole souls, hence the soul manipulation of the Fullbringers.

Though it wouldn't surprise if Kubo did this by using the Shinto concept of "everything has a soul" for their basis and then trying to fit it in with pre-existing spiritual species. A bit backwards but what's done is done, I guess. :huh.:

Techinically it's mentioned as far back as the Shattered Shaft Arc. When Ichigo is trying to regain his powers Zangetsu tells him to call upon the spirits in the air.

Here we go, first panel.

Hm, I assumed that was a mistranslation of spirit particles. Though it's possible spirit particles and souls are just different types of the same thing in this context. I don't think it went into much detail on what the souls they Fullbring were made of/came from.

Hard to say really. The concept though interesting really wasn't fleshed out all that well. Though that said the whole 'can't get stronger' tripe was pretty dumb, though they admittedly have a loophole to exploit with the compatibility with Substitute Shinigami thing. Even then though that wasn't properly exploited either, but considering you're using this concept with it there's much more of a chance to experiment depending how you go about it.

Regardless, since we're working with quite a truckload of possibilities in the ability thread after we went a little crazy with alternates, which 'skills' are we working with specifically here? The bases and advancements for Chad, Orihime, and Ishida were already mentioned/were pretty easy to come up with, but what toys will Tatsuki, Keigo, and Mizuro be playing with here.

I'll admit to having several of my own preferences out of the bunch, but admittedly a lot of the stuff we came up with could be switched in and out for all kinds of fun options. Like that last Light Mote thing I came up with. :snigger:

By the same token, other than Jakie who was pretty straightforward, what kind of Full Brings are we dealing with? Using a few of the options in the ability thread here too to shake things up, like the 'The World' variants?

Obviously you have plans to alter Yukio and Doll chick to make them less absurdly hax. For Yukio I would recommend less absolute control and actually make his abilities more in line with ACTUAL games. Randomly summoning random monsters was kinda lame, make him summon 16 bit stylized turrets/tanks/alien spaceships instead. REALLY play off the whole invaders must die angle and make it all bullet hell for his fight. :yay:

Hell having zone control could also be exploited for all kinds of fun with less absolute control over it. For example, he could vastly increase gravity or temperature, but that would crush/heat up himself too if he's in the same room. Instead altering the shape of the room should make dodging/creating barriers a breeze, as well as using the same thing to push enemies into the path of his attacks. He had a lot of potential that wasn't used properly, though granted I ceased caring when it turned out he was a little shithead.

This thread is a surprisingly good source of motivation for getting my ass in gear. In a nutshell, hereÆs what the protags can all do, all of which can be found in the ability thread in some form:

Keigo can manipulate gravity by pushing and pulling matter and energy, creating gravity orbs and finally creating black holes.

Mizuiro can manipulate space by teleporting, creating portals and deleting it through space-cutting wires/daggers (which are his main form of offence) and AoE æbombsÆ.

Lastly, thereÆs Tatsuki the elementalist who gave me some trouble. At this point IÆve backtracked and decided on her using lightning and electricity. This starts off in combination with her martial arts but broadens into more ranged techniques, and eventually results in a lightning shroud or lightning embodiment.

For the Fullbringers, this time around Riruka wonÆt be jumping inside people or shoving them into toys. And IÆll probably remove how she can shrink people down to put them in dollhouses since she could literally just crush anyone underfoot that way. I basically saw how she used the fat guy to move her dolls and Giriko made it go rapid and figured it would make sense to have that work as her own. Basically she can animate anything sheÆs Fullbrought and use them like puppets though she doesnÆt particularly like the ability since they donÆt look ôcuteö anymore. Seriously, IÆm imagining that they go rabid when she calls them to attack. :snigger:

I like the Yukio ideas. ThereÆs a few game-related abilities he could play around with; miniature spaceships flying around shooting bitches, oddly-shaped falling blocks, a starving swarm of yellow faces etc. Rearranging the landscape would work and he literally turn the surrounding area into gaming level with messed up rules (though not to the extent that he could do severe damage through that alone).

That doujin in the images thread gave me some ideas for Giriko. Examples being accelerating the time of his clock hand projectiles, freezing and reversing enemy attacks, cloning himself and æteleportingÆ by reversing his timeflow (which could potentially be used to heal his injuries). Having it unable to effect a person directly serves a decent limitation so we donÆt step into BarraganÆs crazy territory or include any weird hulking out.

The original Fullbringers are more difficult since I need to decide on how large the organisation is (more like a well-funded gang really) and where its members stand.

The abilities IÆm most interested in including at the moment are the shadow, paper control, a variation of that Light Mote ability and the Ghost ship (because that would make for an awesome entrance). IÆll likely include some of the lesser abilities for the more mook-ish members.

At the moment IÆm considering having the Fullbringers enter in two separate groups. The first group to meet Ichigo and company were hostiles who got kicked out of Xcution for planning a takeover. They attack the protags for power which creates a bad impression and shows them that other spiritual humans are about. At least one of them would a canonical Fullbringer to give some familiarity for the readers. This would also be I could set up Ishida being able to awaken his natural abilities in the future. Then, days or weeks later, the real Xcution arrive and start some non-hostile interaction with the protags and things proceed from there.

Good that gives us quite a bit to work with.

Giriko is probably best to be among the initial outcast group, both because he's also a crazy dickhead and it'd be best to get him out of the way quickly. Riruka could also serve this purpose, but less people in general care about Giriko so he's probably the better option. Ishida will likely be prominent in taking him down, which works all in all for those purposes.

Glad you like the Flying Dutchman ability, I was considering using it myself for a chick I was designing as part of a group based on my Circus Troup Manga concept in that tread I made a while back, the Halloween Circus idea. Mostly for wow factor and to use as their main method of travel. Which doubly worked since that group technically had a ninja in it already so a pirate too was a must have. It was initially supposed to be fairly high level with the scale of the energy cannons it had, but downgrading that is a fairly simple thing, certainly the first cero faced around this point wasn't that imposing either.

Though by the same logic Ichigo might be able to use a similar method to counter it. :hmm:

Anyway with the Yukio concept we have going and the exploiting of Riruka's drone sort of skill, both him and Riruka would likely make for a nice battle against Keigo and Mizuro, with Orihime as support (And maybe a third lesser Full Bringer to make it 'equal'). Mizuro for womanizing factor and Keigo because he'd be the first to point out their abilities are bullshit and completely unfair, and Orihime to patch them up if things go bad. Also at least once Keigo should narrowly escape death by line block and then complain at it that it never shows up when he needs it. :snigger:

Victory will likely be achieved because Yukio's a shithead and doesn't do teamwork, while Keigo and Mizuro can actually work well together, especially if Orihime covers them defense wise with the fairies. All the better too if Keigo's push/pull can work through the portals.

A paper based ability would probably be great against Ishida actually, since both would specialize in projectiles likely. Jackie's already good to go for a Chad fight, which covers him at least. Light Mote, being a jack of all trades ability would likely make it a decent fight for just about anyone depending how in depth you go with it, meaning it could be part of the initial batch of Full Bringers or a final battle for say Tatsuki depending how it goes. I personally was shaping it for a Kenpachi esque chick who'd have tried to take down Chad, but with Jackie the point is kinda moot.

(This was also intended for an epic LOLREVERSAL with the Guy I was planning to use the Kings Seal since light mote appears like an Orihime esque sort of skill so readers would expect her to combat it, while the Kings Seal seemed more like a Chad sort of skill so readers would expect him to fight that, but then the two switch for WTF, and it turns out that the Kings Seal is actually more of a match for Orihime, and Light Mote a better match for Chad)

I suppose this naturally leads to Ichigo having to take the Pirate Ship it seems... Which works because you could say the cloak and sword is part of a Shinigami who had his power forcibly stolen to augment this fullbringer, which would probably make this one the defacto leader by default.

Unless you were thinking something different of course. Admittedly if we get Kon or Urahara's bunch involved that would allow for more players on the field, and certainly would help make this group seem much bigger and imposing. Just 6 guys of a decent level, if that, probably wouldn't mesh with that image. Maybe a handful more imposing ones and a few waves of mooks to be toss aside callously would help things along. :hmm:

Perhaps a couple people fight multiple times, certainly the three on three team battle above could come after a few lesser fights, and a few of the others could have a team fight before their big final one. Certainly Chad and Ichigo need to bro it the hell up by going back to back in a two on two showdown to get some epicness to fire us up before the final confrontations.

Managed to get a fair bit of planning done yesterday. Plot for the first arc is complete, and I've got a rough draft of how the Fullbring arc is gonna progress. I seem to find it much easier to plan out ideas than actually write them. ;)

And here's a sort of profile for the Fullbringers (re-drafted) and Xcution:

Fullbringer said:
A Fullbringer is a type of a human who has awakened their spiritual power in life which grants them individual abilities and are able to manipulate the soul of matter.

They are able to command physical matter to behave in certain ways by Fullbringing its soul e.g. pulling on the soul of a liquid to help a person drink it, pulling the soul out of the asphalt to make it more elastic or to even be able to walk on water by pulling on its soul to solidify it.

They are able to use a high-speed movement technique which creates the phenomenon known as Bringer Light when used. Their soul manipulation abilities can be used to amplify their jumps by Fullbringing the ground or accelerating mid-jump by Fullbringing the air. This, along with other applications, gives them a number of movement-based techniques on par with the ShinigamiÆs hoho.

Fullbringers are possess far greater physical abilities than regular humans. Their active use of spiritual powers creates a link between their body and soul, causing the soul to act as support for the body. They become able to withstand far greater injuries, can heal faster than normal and essentially become "superhuman" to varying degrees.

There are two types of Fullbringers:

The first are Pure Fullbringers who are born with or develop spiritual powers and manifest their natural abilities. The nature of their power is different for each individual as they are based on the personÆs soul; some powers manifest spirits like a Shinigami, some causes physical changes like a Hollow and others produces a certain type of ability which the user develops themselves. These powers are able to grow over time and their limit is set by the userÆs imagination, spiritual power and talent.

The second type is called Material Fullbringers whose powers originate from their mothers who encountered a Hollow prior to their birth. Ironically, these are more common than Pure Fullbringers. However they also possess an ability that regular Fullbringers do not; they are able to steal the spiritual powers of others and use it to empower their own abilities or transfer it to another Fullbringer, meaning that they can expand their strength indefinitely. The destruction of their Fullbrings removes their ability entirely.

There is a sub-type of the Material Fullbringers which are called Guardian Fullbringers who manifest their powers through a specific living animal rather than an object, usually their beloved pet. When the Fullbring is activated, the animals become empowered by the userÆs spiritual energy and they develop special abilities for combat. These are rarest type of Fullbringer.

Ichigo's entire group are Pure Fullbringers; their proximity to Ichigo's reiatsu caused their own spiritual power to grow and allowed them to awaken their natural abilities in a life-or-death situation. Ichigo himself is an oddity as he uses the zanpakuto of a Shinigami but possesses Fullbring abilities due to him having a living human body.

This is an organisation of Material Fullbringers founded by Kugo Ginjo. He discovered his own powers as a teenager and realised that this made him far more powerful than ordinary humans. He began travelling the country in search of people like himself to create an organisation which wouldnÆt have to listen to the government or military.

At some point he and his fellow Fullbringers couldnÆt improve their abilities any further and felt crippled by the limitation. It was then that they learnt to steal spiritual power from humans or the abilities of other Fullbringers. Their ambition grew and lead to them hunting down the numerous shinigami who were stationed in different areas of the country, enabling to progress even further. Their understanding of Soul Society was limited by the ensured that the killings were disguised as hollow attacks.

More than once they came across Pure Fullbringer but given the limitations of their abilities, an inferiority complex was developed in the Material Fullbringers. This resulted in them refusing to allow Pure Fullbringers into the organisation and would instead steal their powers for themselves.

There eventually came a power struggle within the organisation as several Fullbringers attempted to usurp GinjoÆs authority. One of them has a flying ship as a Fullbring which was used to transport the entire group across the country and was considered very useful. Ginjo killed the owner and stole its powers before scattering the rest of the resistance. Several were killed whilst other became exiles and planned to steal as much power as possible, even hunting the powerless to use their whole souls as an energy source.

I noticed you nabbed Guardian Fullbringer as well, will be interesting to see how that evolves into this.

And nice touch with Ginjou stealing the ship fullbring. Allows him to keep the sword, which is apparently shinigami based and use the ship on top of it. :snigger:

I'm presuming he doesn't have bankai obviously, and the clad type side boost is probably removed from the Flying Dutchman since he actually already has something to work with.

I'd probably suggest a mook squad however at bare minimum to beef up the numbers to if nothing else make them appear more formidable, if only because it'd be good to get some team fights in with people who have weaker full brings that we don't need to spend a lot of time developing. There should be at least one moment where the team is quite literally mowing down fullbringers as they try to reach one of the big climatic battles of this arc. :yay:

For example your Mr. Anonymous with his hat 'you don't notice me' fullbring would make for a lulzy scene when he gets oneshot trying to take them out by surprise. My Five By Five Headphones fullbring might make for a good support sort of skill that lets Ginjou know where everyone is at all times, including hostiles. Though obviously that one's shit in combat so that'd be a minus.

Might also be a really good idea to incorporate a few swords into members other than Ginjou (and Tsukishima). Since the idea is to show that they've been hunting down shinigami and forcing them to make themselves into substitutes, probably more than just Ginjou should have a 'sword' incorporated into their ability, even if it's only a weapon augment.

Personally I'd suggest Girko, Yukio, and Tsukishima himself for this, meaning they have killed at least 4 shinigami, possibly more if a few mooks or additional mid bosses have then. Hell if you go with the Five by Five ability, a sword for that one might be good to give an offensive option even if s/he gets defeated easily.

Riruka's also a possible, certainly it'd give her some viability to, but if you go the sypathy route with her, which I wouldn't but then I don't give a shit about her, it might be harder if she's definitely killed a random shinigami to take his powers. Jackie should be right out, since not only is she the most sympathetic of the bunch, but she also has no real need for a sword with her fighting style, she's already got direct offensive capabilities.

In each case other than Tsukishima, the swords probably won't do anything directly but will give them something to swing at someone if they get close. Well won't do anything other than be the focus by which they steal powers anyway.

I included Guardian Fullbringer in the profile but IÆm not sure whether not to use it in the fic. I feel it would be better served in a fic which is entirely about fullbringers (like how Devil's Smile explored Hell for the whole story) so that it can receive the proper development. I suppose IÆll just see how it fits in. Currently IÆm imagining that the protags take note of one or two Fullbringers with a pet but donÆt think much of it until the conflict starts and catches them by surprise.

Or perhaps Chad's pet parakeet gets a power-up. :snigger:

Mooks make up most of Xcution but I didnÆt mention them since theyÆre just side characters for the most part. I figure thereÆd be around 15 of them

Certain characters having swords could work as it would give some physical evidence for them stealing from shinigami. IÆve envisioned the FullbringerÆs steal method involved them generating bringer light around their hand and literally shoving it into the victimÆs chest (without injury) and pulling out their power. Using the sword would make the process easier for them, perhaps even more æefficientÆ for the transfer.

The protags could notice how some of the leaders and the mooks have sword and make the connection. RukiaÆs reaction and their reaction to her feelings could be interest, especially since she can do very little to help fight unless she picks up some weaponry from Urahara (which could be an amusing CMoA for her).

Not sure about Riruka though having a sword would be useful for a puppet master like herself. On one hand she could easily be one of the characters who isnÆt really interested in growing stronger and doesnÆt like killing people for it. On the other hand she might do it anyway and justify herself with similar arguments to what she said to Rukia in canon. SheÆd probably be in the middle ground depending on what actions she takes during the arc.

EDIT: Hmm, I mentioned in the first post that I'd be having Aisslinger plan an ambush and I'm thinking to expand that to include Demoura and Di Roy, setting up development for Ichigo, Chad and Ishida together and finish the opening arc. I just noticed that Di Roy's original appearance was a lot more hollow-like so he was probably an imperfect arrancar prior to Aizen's defection, which makes it easier to fit in with my plans.

EDIT2: Figured I should clarify one thing:

This is the Fullbringer's technique which allows them to steal the spiritual power of another. They concentrate their spiritual energy within their hand or a weapon and then use it to pierce through the chest of their target, focusing on the thought of fullbringing the soul. Once they've entered the body they can then literally pull out their spiritual power and/or Fullbring and absorb it into themselves.

If the Fullbringer wishes it, the technique can be taken even further where they are able to absorb a person's entire soul and use it as an energy source, similar to how Hollows devour souls. This means that they can receive power from even from spiritually-unaware individuals but the act itself is considered reprehensible and is very inefficient.
