Nasuverse Taiga Route thread

This is a thread for fics set in the hypothetical Taiga Route, that is to say, stories where Taiga is the main heroine. That doesn't mean other girls cannot be part of the relationship. Taiga would certainly be on board with rescuing Sakura, for example, whether Woobie-chan joins the 'ship or not, and might or might not mind having fun with Rin, Saber, or Rider. Its just that Taiga is the central figure.

Tiger Dojo shorts for this route could be especially hilarious.

The source of this idea comes from another idea I had, where Shirou summons Servant Saber - Counter Guardian TIGER, possessor of the cursed demon-sword Torashinai. She's from a Bad End in the hypothetical Taiga Route.

Hm... actually, I was thinking about what Tiger-route would look like anyway, and there's a really important point that... well, let's let God explain.

The most important thing to do, to make a Taiga route viable, is to change the relationship between Taiga and Shirou into something that can blossom into love.

That is to say, when Shirou refers to her as "Fuji-nee", that's not a fetish we can exploit, that's a barrier in their existing relationship to it becoming romance. Not only does he have a relationship of "family" with her, but he also thinks of her as a teacher-figure. Not just a teacher in the literal sense because she's a teacher in school, but as a mentor figure that advised him.

So, my advice is, we need to reach back in time and create some events where they become "social equals" instead of "big sis and little bro".

To that end, I was thinking about why Taiga was hanging around anyway, and it was because she had a crush on Kiritsugu. So, here's Shirou, an only child, and the teenaged girl-next-door is making doe-eyes at his (adopted) dad. Like a lot of kids, he feels threatened by people expressing romantic interest in his single parent. So we have him jealously lash out against Taiga, but in ways appropriate to Shirou. He tries to make her look bad in front of Kiritsugu. He scolds her. He sneaks into her room (after politely getting permission from her parents) and steals the good-luck-charm off her shinai (which, by the way, is a for-want-of-a-nail scenario leading to her not getting disqualified from the National Kendo Championships...). She descends to his level. She pulls pranks on him. Essentially, they both bicker like nine year olds. And then, after Kiritsugu dies, she's there for him, not as a big sis, but as his friend. She trips the extremely potent flag: she happens by for BAR.

Basically, we change her character qualification from Big Sis to Childhood Friend.

BAR is the fate/stay meme where it is said that any girl that happens to see Shirou try to jump the high bar when he was a little kid ends up falling in love with him 100% of the time.

This is kinda funnily supported when both Rin and Sakura watched him do it and both fell in love with him.

..Hmm.

One possibility is that this close relationship means Taiga is always leaving stuff at Shirou's house. Including Torashinai, which Shirou uses to defend against Lancer.

This summons TAIGA, Heroic Spirit or Counter Guardian as a Saber.

Problem? Well, no Arturia. Not unless really want to lay it thick on handwavium and have Shirou summon both by virtue of having two catalysts.

This isn't the ideal solution, but it does come with one major benefit: two Taigas. More importantly, a Taiga who has likely suffered more tragedy and hardship than mortal Taiga, and would encourage Taiga to consider her options. Like Shirou.

Having the Epic Hero version of yourself point out that your neighbor is a good catch would break down quite a few barriers now wouldn't it?

I actually wrote out a Taiga Route once, complete with Shirou summoning a ludicrously over the top Heroic Spirit Taiga from an alternate world. It was on the silly side. I'll see if I can dig it up later.

Something else: Maybe having Taiga learn about shirous magic at somepoint after Kiritsugus death. Perhaps her sneaking into Shirous workshop when he's distracted by making a circuit for whatever perpose.

Idea: Maybe the Taiga Clan could be privy to magic and Taiga happens to become a master.

The first idea....it's too easy for Shirou to potentially talk his way out of it. Not impossible though. It's the least interesting to me though.

The second idea though? Yes. It's quite a bit of revision, but I'd love to see Taiga as a Master. Hmm...what Servant would she want to summon, what Servant would she actually get, and what Servant would help her best?

Finally, unless she summons Assassin or forces someone else to summon Assassin, she's stealing someone's spot.

The easiest spot for her to take is Bazett. Would Kotomine troll Taiga like he did Bazett? It may not be worth the risk given Taiga's connections to the Yakuza, although the idea of a one armed Taiga hunting down Kotomine will the Yakuza at her back is bleak if entertaining mental image. You could make a Route about that. Once Shirou finds out why and how Taiga lost her arm, Shirou and Saber would probably be on board with helping.

That, naturally, gets them into a fight they really aren't prepared to fight. They somehow escape and spend the rest of the route being hunted down and seeking refuge.

If Taiga summons a Servant, then if a more light hearted story is desired, she should have a Servant who shares her infectious cheer and over the top personality.

I think she'd want to summon Saber first and foremost, followed possibly by Lancer. I can totally see her wanting to summon a Caster from the Age of Gods because that seeing that kind of magic would be AWESOME. The last Servant she wants to summon is Assassin.

Finally, all this talk of Bazett gives me an idea: is there a way for Taiga to stumble across Bazett and get herself stuck in the Holy Grail War that way? I don't know if Bazett would willingly give up the information, or if Taiga knows more than she lets on via the mob, but there could be just enough miscommunication that Bazett lunges at the chance to be avenged.

For instance, Taiga thinks that the Association is the local branch of Yakuza. She goes digging for information and finds out more than she expected.

One of the highlights of this route: TAIGA VS KUZUKI!

Or Taiga and Partner vs Kuzuki in a Handicapped Match, since he would probably have his Reinforcement unless he can be separated from Caster.

Discuss.

Trying to imagine Caster with Taiga as a Master. Sounds awesome.

I don't see why it's necessary, though. After all, he sees Sakura as "family" prior to the game, and that can be overcome. You just need to write the story such that Taiga undergoes the same transformation in his mind. And, whilst he doesn't show any real hints of sexual interest in her (whereas he does with Sakura even outside of HF), I'm sure that can be worked around.

Right, let's run down the list shall we?

1. Taiga is significantly older than Shirou. Older as in if they were in the US, having sex would be statutory rape. Even in Japan the two would be given odd looks. Shirou's social environment encourages Shirou to seek a girl of similar or younger age.

2. Taiga raised Shirou. Maybe not effectively, but Shirou has known her for the better part of his life. She likely qualified as family before he reached puberty. He only knew Sakura for what, a year? Much bigger obstacle to overcome. I remember a psychological theory that posits that when a child has known and been around someone long enough in their childhood days, they no longer feel any sexual attraction towards that person. I do not remember the name of this theory or how accurate my summary is, but if someone here knows I'd like them to give me a link or the name of the theory.

3. Taiga shows no interest in Shirou. Sakura's is so poorly disguised to only a protagonist could miss it. In fact Taiga notices Sakura's interest before Shirou. That's pretty oblivious. If the two start a relationship then unless the author can sell Taiga being secretly attracted to Shirou, it's Shirou who will be the one taking initiative. Between Taiga successfully hiding or recently developing attraction to Shirou or Shirou taking initiative to proposition Taiga, I'm not sure which I find more implausible.

So unless Taiga happened to be the subject of Shirou's first wet dream and Shirou is repressing like mad or completely moved on, I'm having a hard time seeing him showing attraction of his own initiative after categorizing her as family for about half his life.

I feel dirty for considering that last one. Apparently my shamelessness has limits.

In short there is so much history between Taiga and Shirou, and their relationship appears to be so deeply entrenched, that the best option to make a Shirou/Taiga route is to change their relationship from the beginning to give the author more options. It may be possible to write a Taiga Route without changing the past, but it'd be much harder.

Despite what many people think the best way to make incest work is to remove the emotions based around them being family. They aren't related by blood, but the biggest problem is that they act as if they are.

Pretty much this.

Although I've just been reading a Let's Play of Fate, and one off hand comment is sinking my theory.

"---Fuji-nee, your personality is going to kill someone someday..."

"Hehe. I'm not worried.á Shirou would marry me if that happened."

"Huh, I completely refuse. I have no intention of marrying such a thoughtless killer."
Damn. Alright, they still act like family, and that sounds more teasing to me than anything else. Add Taiga considering it home and not so discretely shoving Shirou and Sakura at each other and I don't think she shows any serious attraction, but it's not entirely familial. If you really want to interpret it that way.

Stupid H-Game opening, everything with a pair of tits needs to be a potential option...

Have Taiga joke about Shirou being her backup. And it is a joke. Except she can't find anyone and is getting older.

"So, hey Shirou, you are my backup right?"

"Absolutely not."

"Don't be so stingy. I'll be a wonderful wife."

...You know, this is actually plausible. Despite myself I can see it.

Depending on when Taiga realizes Shirou's a perfectly reasonable option, she may decide that it wouldn't be proper to marry Shirou while he's her student. Thus, she must endeavor to preserve his virtue as long as he attends her school. This leads to many zany hijinks where she does not allow Shirou to be alone in the company of other women, especially strange foreign women like Saber. Or men, if she discovers Issei.

Yes, there are the other girls to consider and how Taiga would react, but this has serious comedy potential.

@Squirrel-Fu: Heh. That was pretty good.

Nah, that would just mean a whole new bunch of girls could fall for him and she wouldn't be as able to thwart them.

Archer comes from a timeline where Taiga succeeded. However, for some reason he thinks that this is a big reason why his life went bad, so rather than killing Shirou or Taiga, Archer's goal is to set up Shirou with another girl. Possibly Imore than one, so Shirou will have options other than Taiga.

Or, it could be the other way around. Archer could examine his life before he became a counter-guardian, realize that Taiga is probably one of the more sensible people he knew, and decides to avert his Bad End life by setting up Shirou with Taiga.

Or Archer has be sent through time and has won every girl except one. He must now find the elusive Taiga route.

No, everyone knows the Taiga route comes before the Ilya route.

But he came from the Illya route, he wants to try some new things. The Ayako route was relaxing and a bit sweet, Casters was HOT (datass B) ), Bazets was fun though hard to unlock, and the less said about the awkwardness of the hidden Irisviel route the better. Now he wants to try the Bigsis/Teacher genres of eroge.

No. The Ilya route is always last. There are no exceptions.
