Tenchi OVA series 4

The site with an article on the series, brief though it may be.

in the last couple of years, Kajishima-sensei kept hinting at something else coming down the pipe. He teased us with the -If- doujinshi titles, which depict in color storyboard fashion events happening to Tenchi and his harem after they start having children, and even included moments for Seina (Tenchi Muyo! GXP) and his harem’s children. It was only then that I even began to consider that we might get a 4th OVA series, but even then, I erred on the side of caution and figured that things probably wouldn’t pan out. Thankfully, they have.

Neat! Much nostalgia here, gonna have to go back and rewatch the first 3 before it drops.

Still need to watch TM Ai, should probably do that soon.

As someone who watched all of Ai...don't expect much...

Honestly haven't expected much from a TM series since Tenchi Universe.

The shows are never bad, but anything after Universe is either recycling the same joke in another format, or just a mediocre generic plot that something earlier did better.

I could go for another TM OVA expansion though. Those are usually at least decent.

It's got three problems. Tenchi (like the show itself admits) is kinda bland as all hell, the harem tropes that made this so famous way back are getting to be tired now and IIRC this would be after actual super powerful goddesses plus Tenchi being even stronger than all of them. That last bit makes any kind of drama besides emotion really hard and the first two bits make emotional drama really hard.

Maybe if it's about the kids, or reboots things or something, but unless I start seeing people obsessing over this I'll watch other works.

It's an OVA so it'll probably be pretty short. I don't expect it will even run 12 episodes, probably more like 6-8 or so. I can take a few hours to watch some main U Tenchi when it drops.

If it's a full 24 episode season, I'll probably put it off a bit more and may not watch it at all depending on how it's received, but for a short OVA series, I can set aside the time for nostalgia's sake.
