TFF Gundam Role Playing Game

Hello, all.

I'm posting the basics for an eventual Gundam RPG that would be played in this forum. I just want to know if people are interested in the concept before going further.

The setting would be based on the PS2 game MS Saga : A New Dawn. It's a post-apocalyptic Earth where human civilization is slowly making its come-back, thanks to Star Trek-like Replicator technology. Unfortunately, several factions use it to create mobile suits to wage war upon each other.

The World's only hope lies in the hands of TFF, the True Fanfiction Federation. Players will have to face the likes of YAOI, the b/tards, the Lemon Alliance and other dastardly adversaries in their quest for Freedom!

Players will be able to pilot mobile suits from Universal Century, Wing and SEED.

So, anyone interested?

YES.

Big Gundam fan here. Any mobile suit restrictions? Because I don't want uber-broken mobile suits like Strike Freedoms and Akatsukis all over the place. If you have a list of restricted and banned mobile suits, I would appreciate it.

Each player chooses a tech tree (Zeon, Federation, OZ, ZAFT, etc...). Starting MS will be grunt suits. If you want a gundam, you'll have to work your ass off to deserve it.

Well, for GW, the only real tech tree is OZ and the five scientists who built the Gundams. And that MO-V colony in that GW manga...

What about independent factions within the universes with no clearly defined tech tree like the Clyne faction from Seed and the Crossbone Vanguard faction that opposed the Jupiter Empire in the Crossbone Gundam manga?

Gundam sounds like it would be interesting to role play. Would we be starting from Mobile Suit Gundam and working our way up to Gundam Seed?

Edit:

Or... would it be just a new plot with these different gundams getting involved?

The Clyne faction was basically just borrowing from other factions' tech trees, at least in GS, so you couldn't really choose them as a tech tree.

Even if the only real tech trees are Oz (which should probably include all the pilots' enemies) and the old guys they're still considerable tech trees. Just look at my rough approximation of Oz's with a few White Fang suits:

OZ and White Fang (by power and abilities)

Leo (basic+multipurpose)
Aries (air), Tragos (heavy+hover), space Leo (space), and Cancer (water)
Pisces (water advanced) and Taurus (space advanced)
a human piloted Virgo (shields+heavy weapons)
a human piloted Virgo II (advanced shields+heavy weapons) mobile doll back ups (support, follows same tech tree up to Virgo II but at first isn't effective in atmosphere+you would get more as you progress)
Tallgeese and Tallgeese II (exact same except paint job, used for speed mainly)
Vayeate (serious offensive power) and Mercurius (serious defensive power)
Gundam Epyon (its only ability is to be badass, oh and the zero system but that doesn't count)
Human directed mobile doll back up (advanced support, Virgo and Virgo II)
Vayeate and Mercurius mobile dolls emulating Trowa and Heero (over kill support)

Oh and if you wanted to add the Mariemaia Army in there you would put the Serpent right before the Tallgeese since it had new armor making it almost as tough as the gundams.

Just give me an Astray.

Who needs new suits when you can just pimp out your current one?

The Tech tree system isn't written in stone yet. If it proves too complicated, I'll find another way.

As for a list, here's what I have for the moment :

Gundam U.C. :

- Earth Federation
- Zeon/Neo-Zeon
- Titans*
- A.E.U.G./Lond Bell*
- S.N.R.I.*
- Crossbone Vanguard*
- Ligue Militaire*
- Zanscale Empire*

Gundam Wing :

- OZ
- Gundam Scientists*

Gundam SEED :

- Z.A.F.T.
- O.M.N.I. Enforcer
- Orb*

Trees marked with a * are sub/divergent trees that will be unlocked only during the game.

Before you ask, no Turn A Gundam or Gundam X because of plot device weapons like the Moonlight Butterfly and the Satellite Cannon. No Gundam 00 either for the same reasons and the fact the series is not over yet. And no G Gundam !!!

Why would Orb be marked with a star? Let's keep in mind that they have a fair tech division of their own with a good amount of the population being Coordinators. Even without the Alliance contacting them to help develop their own prototype mobile suits, they would have still had some interesting tech to play with.

What would be the starting point (timeline wise) for each tech tree? Would EA and ZAFT start with nothing but mobile armours and GINNs? Would Earth Federation and Zeon tech be around the OYW era?

And we can switch between tech trees as we unlock more stuff, right?

Orb is marked because the Gundam Astrays are only one step ahead of the M1s.

There are no coordinators in this world. The closest thing we have would be the Bishounen clone warriors YAOI use as cannon fodder.

The Tech Trees starting MS would be :

Federation : GM and its variants, Guntanks.
Zeon : ZAKU II (All types except S).
OZ : Leo, Aries.
ZAFT : GINN, DINN, BuCue.
OMNI Enforcer : Strike Dagger.

After lack of visible interest (only two volunteers), consider this idea dropped.

Sorry.

I think the reason for lack of visible interest is that this is in the wrong section.

And I'd love to take part- just give me a windam to trick out.

It is a shame that it has been stopped as personally I would have wanted an Astray to customize, well at least to start.

May I put forward an idea?

Well, rather than worry about Gundams and such, why not a general Mecha Musume RP?

Most people probably know Gundam more..

Yes, this is true, but instead of Giant Robots, why not Mecha Girls? I have an RP that follows the premise elsewhere, and I'd like to try something similar here.

hmmm, just noticed this actually and I would have been quite interested in participating save for a couple things.

1. The setting you described doesn't really lend itself well to a Gundam RPG. If I'm flying a ZAFT suit i want to act like a ZAFT pilot not be fighting side by side with a Earth forces suit with absolutely no qualms about it. You're basically destroying the identity of the mobile suits. I want to be able to look at a Zaku and go "that's a ZAFT suit" or "that's a Zeon suit" not sit there wondering who the hell is piloting the thing.

2. The factions you have set up make it seem more like a parody. Again this ties into the whole setting thing but if I'm going to be fighting in a mobile suit I want to be fighting against the enemies of my faction not just fighting random crazy factions such as "yaoi fangirls" or some such.

3. You were very vague with your tech tree outline. How would one determine when they would be eligible for upgrading their mobile suit and by who would be giving permission for this upgrade?

4. Some of the universes named still have extremely powerful units that would leave us grunts charred craters in the ground. Someone manages to get Wing and there's likely not going to be a lot that can challenge a mobile suit equipped with a colony-killer weapon.

that is all.

These are most likely some of the reasons this thread did not get a lot of attention as well.

It would be better if you had set this up as a sort of massive crossover where factions ally and declare war on each other that have an agenda that is not based solely on aa crackish parody as i would guess the plans of a yaoi fangirl federation would be.
