My resolve came through. I'll be playing. Just forgive me if I tend to ignore zedalb.

True Name: Lance Williams or not as one doesn't give away one's true name. Don't you know it gives power over you? But Lance works as well as a name as any for him.
Costume: Geomancer
Role: Wandering Mercenary

Pre Personality: Lance before the change was a quiet, unremarkable guy.
Shift Personality: In the depths of the change comes a guy who only cares about the next time he get's paid. Mercenary through and through. Once he is bought for a job either he completes it or the employer dies or defaults and he goes on his way to find the next one. This wandering mage cares little for others, save what they could do for him. He does whoever do small acts of kindness, when the mood strikes or when someone does something that clashes against his moral code.

Appearance:
Height: 5'10ö
Eye Color: Bright Green
Clothing: His clothing consists of a dark brown Mage's Cap, a selection of green shirts of various hues, several pairs of pants, and a dark brown cloak.

Stuff:
Wizard's Staff with Green crystal.
Bag of Holding with foodstuff
Everfill canteen with tea.
Book of 3

Abilities:

Mage Sense: The innate ability that most practitioners of the secret arts gain to feel the magic of the world around them. Mostly used to feel for other mages and places where one should avoid.

Earth Manipulation: The First art of the Geomancer. The ability to control the earth around oneself. Stability, Animation, and Alteration are the three main concepts of this art.
Plant Manipulation: The Second art of the Geomancer. The ability to manipulate the flora around oneself. Growth, Control, and Flourish are the three main concepts of this art.
Golem Creation: Creation of an earthen warrior created from the stone in the ground and any plants in area.
Book of 3: This book contains the three spells that Lance finds useful. It allows him to cast spells that his art cannot. Arrow of Flame, Chained Lightning, and the Bladed Wind, Lance however always refers to them as Flame Arrow, Chain Bolt, and Slicing Wind, due to his sense of humor. This book only allows him to use each of the spells only once per day, once used thrice it slams shut and will not open until the dawning of the next day.

Weakness:
Compared to most mages Lance is tougher then most due to his wandering, but compared to any warrior he is rather frail and squishy.
Law of opposites: Each branch of magic is weak to another branch.

What would you propose, geography-wise?
The city is in between mountains. Gives a good reason why it's important as it's an easy path through to the side where the enemy is.

Saw Zed's modified post.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF-

DAMN IT.

While that is ... better, it's still only slightly better.

Walk into a town, and start healing people? Not bad. But you think they're gonna let you waltz into their infirmary, and let you touch their patients? Dude, you're a frickin' Ninja. Of the blatantly obvious variety. They're not gonna trust you right off the bat.

And, I'm letting you have your ninja build, but if you want decent combat stats, you're gonna have to sacrifice Healing Hands. You can either take a penalty to fighting, renounce your healing skill, or justify it with better writing.

You see, as long as you write it well, I'm willing to let you guys basically do as you wish. But Zed? Your writing... makes me cringe. I'd actually recomend going and posting in regular forum topics, if you really want to learn how to write better. Yes, you'd flamed to hell, and they'd pick your grammar apart. But you know what? You'd learn pretty damn fast. Or turn into a lurker. One of the two.

I'm trying to be polite here and tolerant here, but you're ticking me off.

And you mis-spelled Cassady.

Name: Ken Brown

Costume: Card Duelist (Yu-gi-oh)

Pre-Personality: KenÆs a pretty nice guy, usually ready to help anyone that needs it. He often has trouble saying whatÆs really on his mind and, until heÆs comfortable with people, is really pretty shy.

Shift Personality: Due to his costume, a generic character from a video game, Ken is far more shy. He finds it easier to talk when asked Yes or no questions but otherwise his verbal skills are usually foundà.lacking.

Appearance: Around twenty years old Ken stands an unimpressive 5Æ7. Nothing really stands out about his, rather generic, appearance other than his red jacket, baseball cap, and rather cumbersome Duel Disk.

Abilities:

Summon Card(s): Just what it says on the tin. Ken can summon a monster/trap/spell card from his deck to protect him during battle.

Weaknesses:

Despite all the, possible, power Ken has from summoning cards heÆs still just human. Without his cards heÆs an, extremely, squishy human and canÆt take attacks from most anything without getting hurt.

Once Ken finishes using a card he canÆt summon it again for twenty four hours. This really bites when he has to fight multiple, powerful, opponents.

What do you thing guys? Should I flesh him out a bit more or would this be good? Any criticism or advice would be appreciated.

Fleshing out is always good. Perhaps the type of deck he likes to use, preferred summons, whether things like the resurrection and equip cards can work on other beings etc.

Do new cards work for him or just the collection he was shifted with?

Perhaps what convinced him to wear the costume or what gave him the idea. What kind of duel disk is it, and is it integral to summoning or is he able to just hold up the cards and get the same effect.

I have an idea...

If we're going to be attacked soon, and we're in a valley...

Wouldn't a cave system of some kind be useful? What am I saying, Underground caves and escape routes and paths are ALWAYS USEFUL, especially in sieges and covert operations.

Moreover, with resources in general at a premium, would that include fuel like gas, and equipment?

That would make a tunnel system difficult to excavate would it not?

Fortunately...

I am on the case! (For a nominal fee of course, not much, I can just eat some of the rocks I dig out.)

And I don't need to take breaks! Not even for sleeping.

My helmet has a computer in it after all, I can just play Dwarf Fortress or something while I dig.

Nice. See, this is what I want to see. Characterization, invention, and innovation.

What I'd like to see is more action in the story thread.

40 Cards is the standard amount if I recall.

Just list them by name.

Still working on what cards to use. The last deck I ran is, in my opinion, a bit too OP for what I had in mind for the RP. I was running a slightly modified Rise of the Dragon Lords deck for a while until those got destroyed and then, before I stopped playing, was running a Synchro deck. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm not all that picky about what monsters I summon...

How about just a deck of famous monsters?
Thatway everyone can have an easy idea about the power level and you get to play with old favorites

GhostElder

You don't need to have just one deck either, if you manage to keep a collection of cards you can alter it for special occasions as well. But you might keep a 'hand' of cards in your pocket or somewhere for a quick draw.

You could keep one or two trap and quick play magic cards on the disc at all times, as just in case things.

Had a "date", super tired but I will post an updated version of my character specs tommorow.

Hey Shaderic! You still doing this?

If so, can you give out some information about the kingdoms of the two warring lords of Baker and Sean?

Sorry, it's been one thing after another keeping me busy.

Let's see...

Sean, up to the north, is a Werewolf Alpha. Any that he turns, and he can do so with a single bite, become incredibly loyal to him, in addition to contracting lycanthropy. He's mean, nasty, and smart as a whip. Not to mention quick as one.
So far, he's only sent handful of wolves to declare the area 'His' and that everyone in Cassady needs to submit to him.

Which wouldn't be so bad, if it didn't involve submitting yourself to a bite.

To the south, is Baker. Other than the fact that he's setting himself up as a 'Lord', no one knows much about him. Just that people who know him, tend to be very scared of him. And they won't talk about him.

And, again, I'm sorry. Military life= busy. Sleep, read a little bit, and work makes up my schedule most days.

Why don't you all have a nice werewolf surge, in the mean time? If bites remain untreated for more than twenty minutes, werewolf venom starts to kick in. You won't get the 'mind control' bit, since Sean isn't here, though.
