I'm thinkin' it's re-mix time.

Seeing as it's been a year, let's mess this up a bit.

______________________________
Halloween World: War of the Masks
______________________________

It's been one year, since that night. The world has started to stich itself back together, but the road to recovery is long.

The country has splintered into what amounts to small fiefdoms, governed by the powerful and cunning.

The government and military were almost anhillated over night, due to the destruction of most communication networks. However, the joint forces have managed to restore themselves, and started to reclaim their combat efficiency. Soon, Operation St. George will begin. The goal of the operation is to stop the rampaging monsters, and reclaim the country.

But it will be a long hard road. And in the mean time, strife fills the countryside.

In the little river-town of Cassady, the air is uneasy. To the north and south, are the warring lords, Baker and Sean. They have been too busy carving out their kingdoms to fight each other properly. Before. But, soon, soon they shall fight. It's only a matter of days, now.
_____________________________________

Not much, but you get the idea.

There are three available origin stories.

Cassady Native: This town has been your home. It's sheltered you, and now you must defend it.

Wandering Mercenary: A wandering soldier of fortune, trading your skills for whatever you can. The town of Cassady has offered you good things, if you help them.

Advance Scout: Gathering information in advance of the army, you are far from help. But you have your orders. Cassady must not fall.

They're pretty vague, but that's deliberate. Also, remember, each of these sides are subtly different. There's little nuances that affect how each one will act in game.

So. Anyone interested?

Sounds interesting.

EDIT:
I think I'll stick with Lucario, though taking out the telepathy it'll make things more fun/interesting/difficult. Possibly as a Cassidy native. I think I'd prefer somewhere to settle and defend if things went the way of halloween world.

I just wonder how often the townsfolk forget that the mon is just as intelligent as them cause it can't talk.

Alright then. Those interested, please post your origin. If you want to play a different character, post it.

Once we get more solid player, we'll get started.

I'll be playing an Advance Scout, myself, just to let you all know.

Anyway, once we get rolling, I'll start a seperate thread. Prologue segment is supposed to introduce everyone, so don't go tearing off into the enemy fortress or anything.

Natives, You're just gonna relax. Introduce yourselves, flesh out the town.

Mercenaries, you need to get hired. Get to town and either meet up with the mayor in the pub, or the mercenary camp on the riverside. Most of them have already been hired, or will be willing to contract you.

Scouts, get to town. Meet up with the mayor, and set up a basecamp. Kurt will be acting as your CO, so don't go doing anything stupid.

And, hey. If your profile is any different from before, even the background, please let me know.

Kurt's main changes are that he's alot more comfortable with himself, and has a better grasp on his abilities. Other than that, he has an armband with a gold bar on it, signifying his rank. He's a second lieutenant. Yeah, I'm goin all out. Officer, baby.

Ok, so who's up? We need at least one more, but I'm willing to accept up to eight more players.

I'll play a merc. And I'm doing some tweaking on my profile so I'll post that again.

I think I'll go native and also make a new character.

EDIT: And here's my new character profile.

True Name: Adrien Chen

Costume: The Overlord from the first Overlord game

Pre-Personality: Eccentric, possibly mental. A nice guy despite having a tendency to bottle up anger and being easily riled up when in hearing range of whiners, complainers, and generally arguments of high volume. Often reacted physically to insults and annoyances. Tends to worry to much when given too much time to think things through.

Shift-Personality: Due to the shift, Adrien is now curiously less attuned to anger. Despite the fact that he has been tainted by Evil and the efforts of his advisor Gnarl, Adrien finds himself following the path of "less evil". However, when his buttons are pushed too far, he reacted with extreme violence. Much more impulsive with his actions and desires. Still Eccentric and probably officially mental now. Occasionally does evil things for the evulz though.

Appearance:

Abilities: As an Overlord, Adrien has gained super-human strength and toughness along with the ability to command goblins-like creatures called Minions and the ability to cast a limited numbers of spells.

Minions: Ever since Adrien became an Overlord, goblin-like creatures called minions have been appearing all over the place. As Overlord, Adrien can summon and take command of these creatures and have them follow him. While weak individually, they are a terror to behold in great numbers. All minions are utterly loyal to the Overlord and will give their lives willingly in service to the Overlord. They are all rather lacking in intelligence and Wisdom though.

Arcanium Armaments: Adrien carries a long-sword and a battleaxe made from Arcanium metal and the lives of five hundred minions each. With these weapons born from death and sorcery, Adrien demolishes any foe that stand in his way. His Arcanium armour protects him and slowly heal any wounds he has received.

Spell-Caster: As a being of magic, Adrien can cast four types of spells

Fire Spells - With this, Adrien can create and manipulate fire, ranging from thrown fireballs to a torrent of deadly flames.

Domination Spells - With these spells, Adrien can mess with his enemies, from hindering their movements to draining their will to fight momentarily.

Shields Spells - Adrien can create a magical force field that can protect him and anyone closeby.

Minion Spells - These spells are used to bolster the effectiveness of Adrien's minions, turning them from cannon fodders to . . . Somewhat dangerous cannon fodders.

Weaknesses:

Large Slow Magical Target: Due to his now larger and bulkier size, partially due to his armour, Adrien is slow on his feet. He also releases a magical signal that can be felt by any magic-sensitive being. This means that he shows up light a lighthouse in the perceptions of magic-sensitive beings.

Good Hurts: Objects of pure good will cause immense pain to Adrien if they make contact with any part of his body, including armour. Holy items don't do anything unless they're also good since holiness isn't the same as good.

Can't Swim: Full body metal armour equals to really heavy equals to sink like a hammer. Water is not Adrien's friend. Come to think of it, even waist high water levels will drown most minions.

Life Force Requirement: In order to cast spells, maintain the enchantments on his armour and summon minions, Adrien needs life-force. Life-force is gained from killing stuff or converting food. Things can get very dangerous for Adrien when he runs low on Life-force.

Town Notes:

Adrien and his Minions make up a significant part of the town's militia. A good number of minion have been tasked with doing all the dirty work such as trash clean up, scavenging, and being henchmen when not under any orders from Adrien. Adrien is currently building his dark tower of Doom in the town square. So far only an eighths of it has been completed.

Most of the town's people generally leave Adrien alone with a few exceptions.

And here is my Native Lucario.

Name : Christopher

Costume : OC Lucario for use in a forum campaign that never quite got off the ground. He lost a bet, and had to wear a Pokemon costume for Halloween, never specified a particular Mon at the time, so he choose one the he actually liked/identified with. Otherwise he could have ended up as Mr. Mime, Jigglypuff or something else embarrassing.

Pre-Personality: A quiet sort of guy who tends to have trouble expressing himself most of the time, tends to talk little and stick to a dry sort of humor. Very protective of friends and family, but far more lax and even passive when it comes to self-defense. Fears really hurting someone.

Costumes' Personality: A loner most of the time, has a sense of justice, and will intervene to protect those that cannot do such themselves. In other words he has a æheroÆ thing. Like any other pokemon he enjoys a good scrap to test himself.
Was also looks for a trainer to eventually take him further and to protect in turn, though for now heÆs quite content to just manage himself. His human mentality/personality/half is a bit conflicted and reluctant on having a trainer. The word that a shifted pokemon trainer has come into the village is a quick way to get him to hide.

Shift-Personality: All together he has some issues to work out and may trip over himself during a fight due to some conflicting instincts, dreading and also being almost eager at the prospect of a fight. He is very protective of those he takes under his metaphorical wing, and will step into the path of an attack heading for someone unprepared without hesitation.

Appearance: Is mostly blue and appears jackal or dog like, is around four feet in height. His forepaws are black and have one white spike on each arm on the upper-side of its wrists. In addition, there's a third spike on his chest. He also has a furry yellow torso, and his thighs are in the shape of what looks like blue shorts. Has a black waist-pack to carry things around in.

Abilities:

Natural combat ability: HeÆs gained an average LucarioÆs speed, strength, durability, and fighting style. HeÆll continue to grow in strength the more he trains and fights.

Aura Manipulation: Aura is a form of spiritual energy described as the essence of every living creature. Gives a version of clairsentience, and supposedly telepathy, but he's had no luck with that aspect.

Aura Projection: Can create barriers or attacks. It can also be used to transfer aura to others but that method can be fatal.

Moves: He can learn attacks or techniques that are naturally learned through the course of a Lucario's life.

Inner Focus: He doesnÆt æFlinchÆ in other words he doesnÆt cringe back when hit, unless heÆs knocked for a real loop.

Weaknesses: Fire, æFightingÆ, and æGroundÆ attacks. Though in this context telling any Earth magic apart from Rock or Ground is difficult. Fighting, could be termed as martial arts.

Inability to speak, Chris can only grunt, growl, and bark, along with a few other dog related sounds. And there isn't always time to start scratching out a message in the dirt.

He has a reluctance to fight anything more than mindless or animal opponents, hates killing, and his first instinct is to pull all his strikes, which wars with his own natural abilities as a Lucario, occasionally tripping him up.

Using an Aura attack on certain demons might just end up feeding them instead of doing any damage, depending on the demon.

Lacks thumbs.

Town notes: Is the Town Handy-dog/mon Usually if there is some aspect of a job where it would be handy to see through things the Lucario will be called in. Prefers potato farming, mostly cause it's boring. Has to regularly remind a few of the townsfolk that he can be just as intelligent as them. A flat look when they're talking to him as if he was as smart as a toddler usually works. Usually

Most of the town just tends to call him Lucario, no matter how how many times he writes his name out for them. He suspects it's in genre or something.

Has been trying to work on the fire weakness but it's exceedingly slow going on his own.

True Name: David task

Costume: ClichÚ ninja but with a naruto head band and a kattana on the back.

Pre-Personality: Some what quite but friendly guy the type with few friends but incredible loyalty to those friends.

Shift-Personality: Quiter to an extreme mostly the same but more aggressive and quite confident. Indecisive because of the instinct to attack his enemies (ninja influence) and protect his friends (personal instinct).

Appearance: black gee and ninja face mask. A naruto leaf headband over the forehead. Black sheathed kattana over his back and black metal gauntlets on his wrist.

Abilities: A student of swordsmen ship before David has changed into master swordsmen in addition to he has found out he is in top physical condition with a chakra pool and he knows a few basic ninjutsu one genjutsu and the most basic healing jutsu. On a side note has found he can pull and throw an apparently unlimited amount of shuriken, while not powerful they can serve as a distraction.

Weaknesses: A glass cannon can not take allot in the way of damage, in addition a very limited chakra pool is his biggest weakness because he always wants to save some for healing allies or himself after the battle.

DOH!

Can't believe I didn't notice this.

I'm in... But one thing.

If this is one year after the previous thread, do those of us who haven't gotten new characters still know each other, even if only tangentially?

<s>Making character sheet now.</s>

Costume : A Parody Space Marine Terminator with a few random features, some of which were Halo Crossovers.

Pre-Personality: An incredibly apathetic and sarcastic jackass who comes off as some kind of Sociopath when irritated, which is almost always, has an immense hatred for stupid people and absolutely despises wasting time which causes him to hate simple things like bathing and sleeping, is also a bit of a perfectionist, which clashes horribly with his laziness.

Costumes' Personality: The Chapter Master of the Crimson Wyrm's Space Marine Chapter, who has survived in almost constant battle in the Imperium for almost 1500 years, his experience is prodigious and his will is like unto Adamantium.

Shift-Personality: An odd case of Pseudo Dissociative-Identity-Disorder, though only he himself is aware of it, as he hasn't told anyone and the second personality is just a voice in his head, he has lost all fear of death, which worries him, and has gained a few quarky reactions to some things, along with and actual will to fight, he has also gained much more control over his temper and his laziness is mostly gone.

Appearance: A Space Marine Terminator in blood red armor with gold trimming, he has two powerfists with mounted storm bolters, his legs have been modified with Power Feet as well, his helmet is a jet black, his eye port's glow bright red, and his Chapter Symbol is of a great red dragon rapping around a large white sword, he has a belt with numerous large pouches on it, along with some visible grenades.

Abilities: Is Huge.

Is Super-humanely strong, without armor, with all of it, he's ridiculous.

He is well versed in operating vehicle's of war and somewhat of maintaining them.

He has also learned quite a bit about various Imperial weapons in his second selves long life and has learned to create some simple things, like bullets, using modern resources.

He is extremely fast... Without his Terminator Armor on, with it, he considers himself slow, though he's still faster then most men.

He has two hearts and can go almost a year without sleep if necessary(Really loves that ability and abuses it constantly), he can also spit a strong corrosive acid, though he doesn't often as it's bad for his teeth, he also gains basic genetic information from eating a creatures meat, though this is severely limited.

Also possesses a minor Healing factor and a pretty absurd ability to survive injury.

Has two separate energy Shields protecting him from harm in his full armor regalia, though both function differently.

Can use his four power Weapons to dissolve matter, making him able to pretty much go through anything made of it.

Has minor blessing on every piece of equipment in his possession.

Weaknesses: Size, he's to big to fit through most doorways and hallways, making it extremely difficult to get around, even with his armor off he has to duck down somewhat in most hallways.

Has an odd phobia of heights that still hasn't gone away, though it only kick's in if outside of something sturdy, like a building, high bridges especially make his stomach freeze, his spine tingle and his thought process go all to hell.

In his Terminator armor, his maneuverability sucks and his hands can't reach near his back, leaving a large blind spot. (this is incidentally why he prefers to have small agile teammates, they neutralize this weakness rather nicely.)

Has quite a few odd racial/species-based problems towards Fey(Original Eldritch Version)(Considers them all deserving of horrible death)/Demons(Complete Monster Version)(Considers all of them to have Alignment: Always Acceptable Targets)/Deities(Apathetic Jackass/Mortals Don't Matter/Have-Feelings)(MUST KILL AT ALL COST) that bite him in the ass a lot when they come up.

His Mouth: his constant inability to NOT sarcastically mock those around him screws him over frequently.

His refusal to ask for advice, Which stems from his dislike for wasting time talking.

He is Hyper and very impatient, usually waiting for only the minimal amount of time before rushing in and trying to kill everything in the quickest manner possible.

His intense apathy and Callousness also causes problems with keeping allies, especially the casual cruelty and occasional bit's of cannibalism.

Town notes: None as of yet, is currently acting as a mercenary.

GAAAAH!
Sorry that it's taken so long to get back to you all.

Between the internet deciding to be a bitch, and work stuff taking priority, not to mention sleep, I've been kinda busy.

Throwing up the topic now.

I think there's six of us so far. Did you have anything in mind Zero? And did we have a hard cap for players?

I want to keep it down to eight allied players. Once we get further in, and if anyone's interested, I might be interested in some Enemy characters.

But hey, if you want to jump in, go ahead. Post a profile, pick an origin, and dive in.

Also, frickin' ZEDALB!!

ESTABLISH! YOUR! CHARACTER! Don't just say you walked in and got a deal, not to mention a ridiculously good one. Supplies, medical, and even a place to stay? Unless your character has a fuckin' charisma greater than 15 and you rolled a friggin' natural 20, YOU AIN'T GETTIN' SHIT.

They will pay you, after you defend the town, and provide some food in the mean time, along with a campsite. That's why there's a MERCENARY CAMP. I mean, maybe I didn't think to lay this out before, but seriously?

Supplies in general are stretched THIN. Unless you have some massive reputation, AND YOU DON'T, you can't get that much for your services.

Also, in terms of writing, you're suffering from a bad case of telling and not showing.

Other than that... well, it's an improvement, I suppose.

And I just want to make something clear: I LIKE powergaming. All this overpowered stuff is fun. But keep in mind, in an epic campaign, you get epic challenges. Otherwise, it's boring.

And Zed, I'm chewing you out for crappy roleplaying. But you can do better than this. When I was 14 I could do better than that. I KNOW you can do better. If you're gonna play, put in some effort. I'll be the first to admit that I'm half-assing it GM-wise. But, that's more because irl is interfering with everything from internet access, to time I have.

Also, people will judge you for your grammar. I'm sure you've noticed this already, but, to me at least, you're coming across as a little retarded. I know you said english isn't your first language, and I'll admit you're getting better. But don't get complacent, and keep working at it. Alright?

In regards to town resources, I would think they'd have things growin that would take minamal resources to set up, maybe a few green houses if they've manged to get electricity, probably a potato field, that shouldn't need sun, probably other root vegetables. Making some of the ration or even treat choices a little odd.

Like Lucario's choice of sweetened carrot juice for a splurge.

I'm thinking the bar isn't normally all that big, but they moved it to a larger building in hopes of taking advantage of the increased traffic of the mercs.

... This is what I'm talking about. We're not in a chat room, you can afford to put full effort into sentences. Things like punctuation make a big difference.

Are you typing from a phone or something?
