Catacombs, Konohagakure, 12:55 Day 1, Post/EXP: 18

When Aleato tried to grab the sword one of the skeletons was holding...the skeleton opened it's mouth..and began laughing!

That's when a puff of green smoke hit him right in the face. With that he began staggering before shaking his head and looking around.

All of the skeleton's seemed to be rising from their coffins and coming at him all at once. Once they started getting too close...Aleato bolted and ran past the rest of his team.

"Where does he think he's goin?" Xerxezz asked perplexed.

"Nevermind we better hurry after him.." Michael muttered before bolting out the door and being followed by Xerxezz.

"Left behind again..what a drag.." Janus muttered in annoyance before dragging him, and the jounin along with them.

The others were starting to get a little too far ahead when Janus began to loose his patience.

Angrily he forced the Jounin forward..causing them to trigger a trap! A pair of saw blades shot out of the walls from the left and right sides barely missing the jounin and Janus!

Janus grumped in irritation before marching him and the jounin forward.

Time 1:12 PM

It was then Michael's genin team rounded the corner and ended up meeting with Zeni's team.

"Bout time you showed up..." Locke said looking over at us.

"We were busy...." Xerxezz spoke up unapologetic.

"Whatever...let's just get this over with.." Aleato muttered while rubbing a gash in his arm that Michael stabbed to break him out of the genjutsu. It wasn't deep...just really annoying.

"Shouldn't we wait for the others?" Sidhe asked confused.

"Whatever...I'm getting tired of carrying around this dead weight.." Janus muttered and broke the hold he had on the jounin, allowing the man to fall to the floor face first.

"Just great....come to hit on me and Eterna again?" Zeni muttered annoyed.

"Ha let's see what ya got this time!" Eterna says smirking.

Michael shrugs before replying " Not really. This is spose to be our quote unquote 'genin' test. No time for that..'"

"Besides...If something happens between us... cool. If not..." Michael shrugs before scanning the area with his Byakugan.

"Whatever let's just get this over with.." Xerxezz says heading for the door.

"Not so fast.." Locke says cutting him off.

"What the hell's your problem?" Xerxezz mutters getting agitated.

"I want to get this 'farce' of a test over with too. But we should at least wait for the others. Make sure we all make it through alright." Locke muttered.

"But there's only two headbands for each team..." Xerxezz was saying before being interrupted.

"Obviously it's just a trick..." Zeni spoke up.

"..to try and turn the clan against each other." Michael said along with her.

"So let's just steal the jounin's headbands so we can all pass simple as that." Eterna spoke up again.

"Do we even have all our jounin accounted for?" Janus asked.

"Um.....maybe we should do a head count?" Sidhe asked.

An Open Stairwell, The Great Catacombs, Level 2, Underneath Konohagure Village
Day 1,
Time 1:00 PM
Post 3 EXP 8

After they finished their impromptu meal, the team of Eterna-chan, Watcher, Sidhe-chan, and Zeni-chan continued their exploration of the Catacombs. The area they had fallen into was rather unlike the floor above. The straightforward passages with roaming dogs had given way to silent, twisting corridors that ended without notice. More than once, they had to double back when a promising route turned out to be a decoy and the real passage was concealed in a side-room. Eventually, they came to a large open stairwell.

They looked at the stairs spiraling down into the darkness.

"Those stairs look rather narrow," said Sidhe-chan.

Watcher nodded and asked, "Eterna, can you go first and look for traps?"

Zeni-chan poked her twin. "Just don't set off the death trap this time, okay?"

Eterna-chan gave her best popcorn-wouldn't-melt-in-my-mouth look. "Do you really think I would do something like that, do you?"

The other shared a nod and said, "Yes!"

"So cruel," Eterna-chan muttered.

Eterna-chan carefully crept onto the stairs, catching herself when she started to slip. She called back to the others, "Be careful. These stairs are slick."

They slowly worked their way down the stairs - Eterna-chan leading with Zeni-chan close behind and Sidhe-chan and then Watcher following.

Halfway down the stair, Eterna-chan skipped a step. "Don't step on..."

Unfortunately, Zeni-chan had been following too closely to stop herself and stepped on the trapped step. A short blast of air from a previously concealed hole caught Zeni-chan and Sidhe-chan behind her, coating them in a powdery substance.

"Zeni! Sidhe!" shouted Watcher. "Are you alright? Was it poison?"

Sidhe-chan licked her lips. "I think it is... oil and rosemary?"

Zeni-chan looked puzzled - well-seasoned and puzzled. "Rosemary... Do you mean like rosemary for cooking?"

"That's right," replied Sidhe-chan. "For cooking."

"Eterna, can you get us a soft landing if we need one?" asked Watcher.

"Of course! Do we need one?" she replied.

Watcher pointed up. "I don't think we can outrun that."

The other looked up and saw that the stairs they had come down were on fire and more flames were racing towards them. The substance making the stairs slippery had been cooking oil.

At Watcher's direction, they jumped away from the stairs and fell down the open stairwell. And were met by a great soft pile of popcorn on the floor. Watcher pulled the girls through an archway as the popcorn itself ignited. It looked like a black blizzard.

Eterna-chan sighed. "It's a pity, all that popcorn...."

"Haaaaauuuuuu!" cried Zeni-chan. "I think I swallowed some."

Eterna-chan leaned over and licked off a piece of popcorn sticking to Zeni-chan's face. "At least the flavor is new."

Time 1:10 PM

Turning away from the burning popcorn, the team found themselves in a large chamber with many entrances, opposite a large stone door.

Edit: Fixed Watcher's name.

Deepest Catacombs, Konohagakure, 1:08, post 8+2, xp 11/11

There was no way out, apparently.

Akira and Leon had dug the stunned Zeph out of the wall while Koneko recovered from her bout of righteous fury for having her first kiss stolen.

That gave her the opportunity to note, however, that there was no apparent way out. There were no doors, no trap doors, no ladders, no nothing.

"Guys, we got a problem...", she said, dripping wet from all the water, her tails more resembling mops than anything else. She took a moment then to shake herself, sending water droplets everywhere.

Zeph moaned in pain as he sat on the ground, recovering, with Akira watching the knocked out Jounin imbedded in the wall. Leon looked at Koneko and asked "What?"

"No door... or it's concealed."

"Damn.", Leon said, "Can you smell where the Jounin came from? Maybe..."

Koneko cuts him off, then "Good idea, Leon, I'll do that."

She then proceeded to sniff the Jounin good, then started tracking his scent across the room, as best as she knew. It took several minutes, but she eventually did arrive at a wall section with his scent. Zeph was capable of walking, again, by then, though still quite sore, and both Akira and Leon had since raided the Jounin for whatever supplies he had that were not crushed between himself and the wall.

Koneko proceeded to pat the wall carefully, trying to sense with her fingers what she was sure was being concealed from her sight. It was likely hidden by a Genjutsu, though who had done that she could not be sure.

Only a few seconds afterwards, her fingers found a latch that she pulled, unlocking the door and allowing her to open it. It was quite big, in fact, over six feet wide, and a foot thick, and opened to a large room. Off to the right, she could see a sealed door and...

Is that Zeni's team? And Michael's? I guess we're not the first, and they're not fighting each other, so... and they saw us, too, might be best to announce ourselves anyway.

"Hey!", she exclaimed, loud enough to be heard, and started approaching on a run, much to the objections of her teammates, who were worried that it might've been yet another trap.

Sidhe waved at her while Watcher raised an eyebrow when he saw the still mostly wet foxgirl coming over and tossed her a towel when she got close. "Get yourself dry, Koneko.", he told her.

"Thanks", Koneko replied, catching the towel, even as the rest of her team caught up to her. However, before she started toweling herself, she sniffed and commented "Cooking oil? Rosemary? I hope you saved some of whatever food you cooked, I'm starving."

An Unknown Passage Way, The Great Catacombs, Level 2, Underneath Konoha
Day 1
12:46 PM
Post/ Exp 4

Mecha couldn't understand where they went wrong. Everything started out so normal..., well. As normal as being a ninja could get. Then suddenly, out of the blue, they had to deal with this insane new menace.

"Are we there yet?"

Kabe did his best to resist the urge to smash his head into the wall and/or killing the source of his irritation. 'No, I can't do that. We have to finish this as a team. There are no dead midgets in the word team. No, must not kill'

The group came to a startling revelation once their silent, short, blunt, and simplistic friend decided to open up to them. His persona was a mask. Instead, their partner happened to be quite energetic, friendly, indecisive, and unsure of himself.

ôUmà, do you know where we are? I think that we already went down this corridor?ö

The group could only sweatdrop.

ôIs it just me, or did he just pull one of the biggest 360Æs in personality IÆve ever seen in my life.ö Mecha whispered to Kabe. Kabe only shrugged his shoulders in defeat.

æI should talk to Parker about SousukeÆs mental state. Last thing we need is another out of control psycho in our group. At least his mental disorder seems to be homicidal in nature.Æ Kabe thought to himself as he watched Sousuke fidget under his gaze. His stature was no longer that of a sure person, but rather like a frightened, well, seven year old lost in a dungeon. æThere has to be reason behind this. Probably some sort of trauma.Æ

Kabe would later find out that he wasnÆt far off from the truth.

ôGrrr.ö The sound echoed in the chamber.

ôLooks like we have some company!ö Mecha called out as he prepared his explosive tags and kunai.

Within the instant those words left his lips did a large pack of dire wolves come at them from behind.

Sousuke suddenly froze.

ôShit!ö Kabe and Zi immediately turned around to try to fend their new found attackers. æWe canÆt afford to let Sousuke fight in his stateÆ thought Zi as he tried to stop the wolves from getting to his new found companion first.

ôCan we make it?ö Mecha yelled furiously, upset that he might lose a friend because he didnÆt keep track of the catacombs well enough to stop the ambush.

ôNo!ö all three them yelled as the first wolf reached the frozen Sousuke.

ôShing!!ö

The wolf who attempted to devour its first meal of the day suddenly found itself with a laceration through the throat. In front of it was Sousuke. However, his demeanor had suddenly reversed itself back into the cold, calculating machine they first met. He leapt backwards, firing two arrows with deadly precision. Two more wolves fell due to an arrow lodged right in between their eyes.

æNow I know he insaneÆ thought Kabe as he hacked apart another wolf that came at him. Fighting alongside him, Zi brutally punched and kicked any who dared to come within his reach

ôAlright guys, get behind me!ö The two melee fighters pulled back as Mecha finished his hand seals.

ôEat this!ö The jutsu blazed into life, burning anything in its path.

ô*cough, cough* Dammit, that jutsu consumed too much.ö muttered Mecha. As the smoke cleared, the charred remains of their enemies came into view.

ôThey were weak. What happened to the legendary monsters that supposedly guarded this area?ö Zi asked.

Meanwhile, a few certain ninjas sneezed for no apparent reason.

ôI think IÆll be happy if thatÆs all IÆll have to fight.ö Mecha said. ôWe arenÆt even genin yet.ö

ôUm, there seems to be staircase in the direction the wolves came from.ö

Three pairs of eyes stared at the fidgeting, blood stained Sousuke who suddenly felt even more self conscious about himself.

ôWhat the hellÆs wrong with you?ö Zi stated bluntly, his rage subsiding from the battle.

ôNever mind that, we have to go. We still donÆt know where that damned Jounin and Genin are. If we keep moving, we can hopefully avoid any more mishaps.ö Kabe could only hope that he didnÆt just jinx his team.

Famous last words.

Great Catacombs, Konoha. 1:09PM
Post/Exp 3/3

"Where are all the jounin?" Mick growled out, his byakugan already active, "I would like to have a word or two with those bastards"

"It wouldn't change anything even if we knew where they are," Watcher glared over at Mick; who was getting far to close to Eterna-chan and Zeni in his opinion.

"Mh...I lost their scent, but I do smell something that smells kind of-" Keneko was cut off by the sudden appearance of team 4.

"Hey there!" Sousuke said, a small amount of blood running down between his eyes, his other teammates seemed to be twitching slightly, well, Zi seemed kind of zoned out. He also was holding his right arm, which wasn't attached to anything at the moment, and what it was once attached to, well, he was holding the stub against his stomach to help stem the bleeding.

"What happened to you?" Watcher stared at them, in particular the red that coated Zi's clothes.

"Well, you see, there is a funny story about that..." Kabe began...
---------
"Ah, food," Sousuke exclaimed as he spotted a small white rabbit, the fact that no one found it odd to find a rabbit in the catacombs was of little importance.

"Well, lets get this over with."

"Wouldn't we need to cook it though?"

"Er...yeah, we kinda do, but hey, if everyone else is having as much trouble as us. We should be fine."

Zi merely blinked at the rabbit, before shrugging. Kabe whipped his hand around, pulling a kunai from his pocket and throwing it in one smooth motion. There was a moment of anticipation as they watched the kunai fly through the air, only to see the rabbit jump up and catch it, then there was only dread.

The genin candidates only stared at the now armed rabbit, a match of wills to see who would back down first, or who would make the first move. In the end the rabbit jumped at them, seeking to dismember them. As they twisted around to flee, the rabbit made it's way to Mech, slicing him apart with the kunai; granted the rabbit was probably surprised when the corpse turned into a log, but then, who knew what the rabbit was thinking.

While Mech was managing his daring escape, Kabe began a Doton: slurry jutsu. This proved to be rather ineffective as instead of catching the rather nimble rabbit, the jutsu caught Zi in it's grasp, causing him to fall backwards; something the rabbit was quick to take advantage of.

As he fell, Zi raised his arm, blocking the most recent attack, though, at the cost of his arm. The rabbit, then began to reorient it's attack to open the student's stomach. The vorpal bunny, however, was forced to dodge again as Zi stabbed upward with a kunai. As the creature attempted to reorient itself, Sousuke shot at it, hoping to kill the menace and get a free lunch. However, this too, proved to be unsuccessful as the rabbit jumped out of the way, only to be incinerated by a fireball, provided by Mech.

Zi was panting heavily, his breath coming in short bursts, the corners of his mouth were twitching ever so slightly upward, the contradiction of his fear of death, and his enjoyment of an activity that would bring death, tearing at the edges of his rational mind. Mech looked over at him, "Shit man, we need to find a medic fast, we need to stop the bleeding."

"I....am...." Zi laughed, "fine. Lets....go..."

As he stalked over in the direction they believed held the core of the catacombs; the team ran after him. Several seconds later, as they fell through the floor, the collective thought was, 'Oh, shit! We are gonna die!' or something along those lines.

"Hey, there are the others!"

"Gah, get off me!"

"I can't feel my legs,"

"I lost my arm."
-----------------------------------------

"....and that's pretty much how it went." Kabe concluded, pushing his glasses up slightly.

"You think we are going to believe that!" Koneko's fur bristled, "Come on, at least come up with a good excuse!"

"...." Zi merely stared as Parker rocketed out of a tunnel, before slamming into Zi, sending him to the ground and Parker rolling, before finally stopping by hitting some debris.

"How convenient," Zi sat up, "I need a medic, and I get one."

"Hah, take that you bloody bastards," Parker yelled, swinging wildly, chakra scalpels going, "I'll take you all on!"

"That's nice," Zi said, just outside the range of Parker's arms, "but helping me heal might be a bit of a priority right about now."

"Ah, oh," Parker looked at him, "so is it your....ah, your arm"

"Yes," Zi held the pieces of his arm together, "and before you ask why I need this, rather than just letting the momento mori take care of it, I need to keep my chakra reserves up."

"You probably lost more just from regenerating the blood," Parker's hands began to glow as he began healing the wound. Parker looked a bit more closely at the wound, "this was done by a blade, you faced something with a weapon?"

"Something like that," Zi nodded slightly, "it wasn't a shinobi, so it was no trouble."

"Yeah..." Parker stepped away, bringing his hand up to his mask, "Looks good, you should be able to use it again. Any problems?"

"No..." Zi flexed his arm, "it works just fine."

Catacombs, Underneath Konoha, 1:12 PM, Day 1, Post/EXP: 3/6.5

"YAAAAAHHH!"

The assembled groups turned as one, to see Aleato running back from wherever it was he'd gone, holding a large chunk of wood over his head with both hands, like a club.

"What the hell is he doing now?" Mick muttered, as he zoomed off backtracking through the catacomb hallway, once again disappearing from sight.

"Shouldn't you do something about him?" Koneko asked, confused. "I mean, he's your teammate, right?"

"Too troublesome. Besides, he'll be fine, I'm sure. He has his own way of handling things." Janus responded, bored.

From down the corridor, there was a horrendously loud ruckus. It sounded as if Aleato was attemting to smash the catacombs apart.

"Are you sure that..." Sousuke trailed off, flinching at some of the louder crashes.

"YOU WANT SOME A DIS? WELL, YOU GOTS IT!" Came Aleato's shouts, echoing along the walls.

"Believe me, in the short time I've known him, I've figured something out. I can say that whatever he's doing, it doesn't make any goddamned sense at all, and we should just let him do his thing." Xerxezz shook his head.

The ruckus came to a stop, and after a minute or two, Aleato walked back to the group, looking none the worse for wear, except he was covered in dust and tiny flecks of wood. He was holding the sword he'd attempted to take earlier over one shoulder, and in his other hand he was holding a small bag that made a slight clinking sound as he moved.

"Hey guys! What's up?" He said cheerfully, not noticing the looks he was getting.

"Um, just what was all of that about?" Watcher asked, even as he saw Xerxezz, Mick, and Janus shake their heads.

"Oh, I was just going back to get the loot!" Was the answer in the same cheerful tone.

"The... loot?" Locke muttered.

"Yeah, the loot! I have dibs on the sword, so you guys can spit the money up! There isn't too much of it, but they were just skeletons, so you can't really be that surprised!" He said as he tossed the bag towards the group.

Zeni reached out and caught it. "Why would there be treasure down here? I mean, this is a trap filled catacomb?"

Aleato looked confused for a moment. "Yeah, this is a trap filled catacomb. That's why there HAS to be treasure down here!"

Mick, Janus, and Xerxezz, as one said, "I told you so."

ôTobi-kun!!!ö Sarutobi cringed at the sound of his nickname. Only one person called him that, and she had to appear now of all times.

Nodoka Akabane, formerly Nodoka Saotome, nearly bounced into the room, filling it with her eerie cheerfulness.

ôNodoka-san, how... nice... to see you.ö

ôI just felt like visiting my favorite Kage, that's all.ö She responded, ôSince I'm here...ö

Sarutobi felt panic set in, realizing how the genin exam in progress would make Nodoka react. Frantically trying to figure a way out of the inevitable mess, he missed her casual move to his crystal ball.

ôTobi-kun...ö Nodoka's voice had dropped dangerously low and calm.

ôY-yes?ö

ôWhat exactly am I looking at?ö

ôUh... Nothing! Just your standard genin exam!!! Nothing to get concerned about!!!ö

ôOh Really?ö

ôReally!ö

ôIt's standard for the students to be sent into the catacombs? Standard for them to be attacked by all sorts of things, some of them being our own ninja?ö Her voice was barely above a whisper, but it only served to increase the sense of forboding.

ôWell... that is...ö

ôWell, I guess that it would b alright if I just went in there and dealt with this problem myself!ö Her voice rose, her fury barely contained at seeing her precious people threatened.

ôNodoka, wait!ö

ôWHAT?!ö

ôI don't like it any more than you, and people will be held accountable for this. However, for them, it is their genin exam, and any interference would hurt them more than anything they're already dealing with.ö

ô...ö

ôNodoka, please promise me you'll stay out of there, for their sake?ö

ô...Alright. But each and every one of them had better come out alive!ö
