Caught this when attempting to get into the site:

The Abh Nation has closed indefinitely as of April 20th, 2009 due a lack of activity. The Abh NationÆs members have compiled a list of web addresses (in no particular order) where members of the community can be located.
For thos who do not know... it is/was at:

The Abh NationWhile Crest/Banner of the Stars was a anime with a select audience, with few fics or sites devoted to it, those that liked it generally liked it a lot. This site has been around for some time. Sad to see it go.

Uh, I have no idea what this was. Mind explaining?

It was a website/forum dedicated specifically to all things related to the anime/manga called Crest of the Stars and its sequels/prequels, which included:

- Birth of the Stars
- Crest of the Stars
- Banner of the Stars
- Banner of the Stars II
- Banner of the Stars III/Final

EDIT: The Crest of the Stars saga centers on two fronts, space cultures in conflict, and how two from opposing views and lifestyles cope together when the sides come to war and no one can be fully trusted.

Okay.

Ah... while I haven't read/watched any of those it's always sad to see or hear of an old website going down... May it return in times of prosperity.

Wait, there was a third Banner of the Stars? When did this happen? I thought the anime went from Birth to Banner II.

Damn, I actually really liked that series.

Edit: Looked up on Wikipedia and Anime News Network, but still doesn't tell me much about what occurs.

Officially, it was Banner Of The Stars III OVA, I forgot the OVA part.

Spoilers if keep reading:

In any case... I think it was some 52 minutes, though I'd have to check my copy for the exact length to be sure. Started with a small uprising on Jinto's home planet. Turned out his fathers friend, the one that saw to his safety at the start of COTS, was against the empire... hated them with a passion, and hated that Jinto now supported them.

In any case, they agree to join the empire. Under the conditions that all abh epire activities must remain at a minimum of 1 light minute from their planet. And the end result Jinto is banished from ever returning home. *Jinto* is the one made to sign that contract... thus forever insuring he can never ever see home, friends, or family ever again. Lafiel promises to the wife that she would take care of him, and they walk away to the shuttle.

Very sad, very meloncholy, fansubbed only, and very good, if a very odd end to the saga.

EDIT: Dang... I have the urge to watch it again.

Can you post a good torrent or download site I could use? I've tried several places and I've had no luck. The PinkUbentoBox subs are broken, and there are a couple others that are not working either. Sorry to ask, but fandom requires I try to watch this.

I got my copy years ago (June 2006)... and it is 1:15 minutes long. My mistake.

I know of no active torrent.

Exact filename, was: Banner_of_the_Stars_III_[PINKUBENTOBOX].mkv

Checking ISOHunt, you might be able to get a copy inside the torrent called: Banner of the Stars [mp4,iphone ready]. It *says* there is 1 seed, short of checking, no way to know if it actually has a usable copy of that episode.

EDIT: as a final warning when getting it. I've no clue if they all were the same, but my own copy, the first couple minutes of flashbacks were *not* fansubbed and are raw... once it gets intot he story, it is fansubbed.

Thanks for the heads up. By looking around a bit more I was able to find some active seeders, mainly using your file name as a reference. 1UP for PCHeintz72. :hail:

Did Morioka stop writing novels? The last time I checked (some years ago) he was working on a fourth, or so I was told.

From the Abh Nation site:

Introduction
According to Hiroyuki Morioka their will be 12 novels, so far 7 have been published, not including his two compilations of short stories, Seikai no Danshou I & II. Other official printed publications are listed on this page. No fan publications or other non-official publications will be listed, due to lack of credibility.

He pubished four novels in a single year? Either he had them already written, or he was a rediculously prolific writer; four novels in a single year's rediculously huge.

Keep in mind that the first three are a trilogy, so they were most likely written as one large project and then split up. Also note that these novels are relatively short when compared to western novels.

Yup. Adding up the three Seikai no Monshou novels you get something like 360-380 pages, IIRC.

I liked the series more than the novels... to be honest about it.

I do have the first three novels as issued in the U.S., and everything known for the anime, though Birth (aka lost chapter), and BOTS III OVA are fansubbed since to my knowledge, no one ever brought them over.

I thought, and still do, it an awesome series, with tons of potential, and one of the few (but not only) with humanity as the bad guys.

In fact... it has to this day, my all time favorite high ranking female military officer. Rear Admiral Spoor Alon Sekpat Letopanyu Beneej.

But very little fan fiction stories exist for it. The 4 stories on Abh Nation itself, 1 on Rec Arts Anime, 1 multi-crossover on Rec Arts Anime, 1 on FanFiction.NET, and one on a private author site are about the only ones I'm aware of. Only the private author site and the multi-crossover are of a good size.

I admit I haven't read any of the fics despite being a big Crest/Banner of the Stars fan. One of the fics was even written by the guy who wrote the first fanfic I ever read.

I take it there isn't much prospect for more episodes?

Of the anime series... I would doubt it... but who knows. I suppose they could either project it forward a few years, or follow someone else in the space services.

You are in fact correct... but neither the abh's, nor the humans, really consider it so. And the Empires are separate and based along entirely different lines and goals.

Ah jeez you have to go and get me interested with the series again, I have the anime DVDs and the 3 mangas and loved them. Planning to buy the novels when I get the chance, pity the site is closing down. Hope for the best for them.
