Through a couple of twists of fate, IE author asspulls, Devon & Chuck already have a strong friendship bond by the time he is to be expelled. Devon steps in and wields some of his families influence to get the matter dropped, Chuck will not be expelled, but he will not get credit for that course, a result of a no-fault closed doors arbitration. In that moment they become brothers, and things start to go drastically off the rails as he becomes an Apprentice in the Arts of the Awesome.
