No, not that, get your mind out of the gutter. :sweat2:

So looking at what Pottermore says about wands, and the that just about anything magical can be used as a core, and any magic wood, as the... well wood. :p

I have to wonder how this could be used in crossovers.

Like from my favorite book series Wheel of Time, what would the properties of a chora tree be?

I'm guessing powerful, I doubt it would be that good at causing harm, are like people who would want to, but mind control.... That's another story. :sisi:

Very few threads inspired me to stop giving a shit with the very first sentence. Congratulations, goodbye, and maybe it says something about you felt the need to preface with this.

To be fair the first thing I was planing to post here, the only reason I actually clicked the link for actually, was "Hey is it just me or does this sound like some kind of gay wizard euphemism?"

Topic is still stupid though.

Judging by your response I'd say his first sentence actually inspired you to give a shit and not the reverse.

As for the topic, a wand made from one of the Stone Archtrees from Dark Souls lore would likely be incredibly good at dispelling magic, ward breaking and casting shields. That or it would be an incredibly poor conduit for magic and actually reduce the effectiveness of every spell cast with it.

Again from Dark Souls a wand made from one of the branches of the Bed of Chaos would be an incredible medium for fire but would work less well with mix-raced wizards and witches such as Fleur, Hagrid and Flitwick.

No.

The properties of the wands would be, like everything else in crossovers, completely down to authorial stipulation.

I never said it made you give a shit about the topic, but indifferent your reply was not. I'm not looking for an argument, I just don't see the point of needless hostility and defamation.

Which A. is why I called it a "Game", and B. this is a "Fanfiction" site, is it not? It's called "throwing around ideas". :mmm:

A wand of <a href='http://wiki.lspace.org/wiki/Sapient_pearwood' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>sapient pearwood</a> might not even need a core, but imagine one with a hair from a <a href='http://wiki.white-wolf.com/exalted/index.php?title=Solar_Exalted' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>Solar Exalted</a>.

For fun, and because I haven't read the article, here are a couple I thought of.

Werewolf's hair: Probably only good as a wand core for each individual werewolf. Powerful for transfiguration, useless for charms. Dies with the werewolf.

Basilisk fang: Powerful as fuck, but equally hard to control. Might be impossible for a non-Parselmouth. If the user slayed the basilisk before taking the fang (wise), it will perform any task that is magically possible, but the power is overwhelming and will intoxicate the user's magic quickly and make them unable to use any other wand. Eventually their "intoxication" will kill them, and it will resemble a poisoning in post-mortem forensic magics.

Manticore claw: Vicious and ill-tempered, powerful but hard to conrol -- all akin to the basilisk fang wand but not nearly as strong in any way. Especially good at magic for fighting. No deadly side-effects.

Flobberworm: As worthless in cores as they are living creatures. Will not produce more than feeble sparks for even the very most able wizards.
