INT. MOTEL ROOM - DAY

The room's a buzz. Everybody has mixed emotions, or none at
all.

And this goes double for River and Amanda. AMANDA steps up
fearless, fueled by adrenaline. River sinks into the group,
slowly retreating, fueled by fear.

AMANDA
Who are these people?

Patty senses the tension, schemes, for a solution.

TROY
People I found--

FARRAH
I'm Farrah. This is my little one
Amira.
(beat)
Are we not welcome here?

Before anybody can answer, Patty jumps in. Ever the
politician --

PATTY
Of course you are. We don't have
much for food or water.

Farrah studies Patty, then the room. Then, nods her head.

FARRAH
Many thanks.

AMANDA
(to Troy)
Can we talk outside?

Troy agrees. He indicates to Farrah she should stay.



EXT. MOTEL ROOM - DAY

Troy and Amanda exit. He scopes the area. But nothing. He
turns around to Amanda holding a gun to his forehead.

His initial reaction is jumpy but he gets it under control
pretty quickly.

AMANDA
I should shoot you. For what you
did.

She's nervous. But fueled by rage. Her gun hand shakes.

TROY
You don't want to do this.

AMANDA
I do. I really DO!

TROY
Your hand's shaking. Plus you shoot
me, the gunshot attracts those
things here. You don't want to do
that to the group, do you?

Her arm falls to her side, defeated.

AMANDA
You killed my father.

TROY
And you hit me with a gun and left
me to die. I'm not crying about it,
am I?

That was the wrong thing to say at this moment. Amanda swings
her arms up, but Troy quickly deflects it as she pulls the
trigger.

A shot RINGS OUT...



SOMEWHERE IN TOWN - SAME TIME

Dormant walkers spring to life, as the gunshot echoes
throughout, acting like an "on switch."



ANOTHER STREET - SAME TIME

Walkers feast on the dead. The shot ECHOES commanding their
attention upwards. Their heads grotesquely bobble. Searching
for the origin of the noise.



ANOTHER PLACE IN TOWN - SAME TIME

Walkers slumped over, sitting. Dormant. Looks like they gave
up. Then --

-- the shot RINGS OUT, their heads spring forth. Searching.



INT. MOTEL ROOM - SAME TIME

Farrah talks with Sara and Roxy. Amira playfully looks around
the room, not fully grasping the situation until...

... her eyes land on CONNIE. Who seems to be having a quiet,
but full on conversation with... well nobody. Amira watches.

It becomes too weird for her. Amira starts tugging on
Farrah's clothes.

Farrah's attention gets pulled from her conversation with
Sara to tend to her curious daughter.

FARRAH
Whaddya want. You see I'm talking?

AMIRA
(pointing to Connie)
What's wrong with her?

Farrah's eyes divert toward Connie and her interesting
conversation.

The shot RINGS OUT...

The GROUP is stunned. What just happened?

RIVER
Those things...?
