"Prepare the Circle Chamo."

"You got it bro."

It was in the forests surrounding Mahora that Negi had set up camp, a one-night excursion. The Ermine set to carefully crafting the magic circle as the teacher looked over the instructions. It was a sensitive ritual, one that would take time and no interruptions. Two things he could not guarantee back at the campus.

"Are you sure you want to do this? This whole contest sounds dangerous..." she set down her camping back not bothering to hide her frown of concern. Kyoto had been a bit of an eye opening experience that there were some serious issues starting to pop up the more she got dragged into the magical world. Not just Negi but now Konoka was a possible danger. Even with the added assistance of Setsuna, Ku Fei and Kaede Asuna just couldn't feel confident that she could continue to protect the bull headed mage as she was.

"Asuna... I, I have to try. A wish like this doesn't come around often. With this I can fix everything. I know I can." His eyes narrowed memorizing the instructions to the letter. In return she sighed and shook her head, if she had learned anything about magic was that there were never simple solutions.

"Fine. Just try not to go overboard... again."

"Right!"

Asuna looked over as a hand fell on her shoulder. Kaede's cool smile did a small amount to comfort her nerves.

"Cheer up Asuna-san, You've started up lessons with Setsuna-san after all. With hard work you skills will blossom, of that this one is sure. A few demons will be short work, you have much potential-de gozaru." the chunin's tone flowed over like a lazy stream with nothing but genuine praise. "Besides, you will never be alone in watching Negi-bozu. Of that this one can promise."

"Thanks Kaede-san." Asuna smiled a little. "I guess there really isn't any turning back now anyway." the two shared a light chuckle. The ninja moved on toward their distracted sensei. It was hard for Asuna to believe just how strong some of her classmates were, if that battle in Kyoto meant anything then she still had a long way to go. Though I do wonder what this grail war will be about... the little rodent was pretty vague about the competition itself. I guess I'll just have to be ready for anything.

"Oi, Negi-bozu."

"Ah Kaede-san, thank you so much for finding this spot it's perfect." Ever the English gentleman Negi was quick to compliment.

"This one is just glad to be of assistance Sensei." She gave a small bow and an easy smile. "I will keep watch and make sure you can perform what you must." and with a rush of air she was gone.

"Wow she really something... hm, I wonder if she'd train me to fight against that boy?" he muttered to himself. The Boy, Fate, was quite powerful in both magic and hand-to-hand. Training was definitely something to consider. "After, I'll figure things out after this contest."

"Circle's almost ready Bro! Don't forget to bring the focus with ya."

"Okay!" Negi turned to his chief partner who passed him thumbs up.

"Don't worry I'll be keeping an eye out down here."

"Thanks Asuna-san," he smiled and rushed over to the circle pulling a chipped piece of stone from his pocket. A piece of stone that held the choosing sword, Caliburn. Chamo wasn't clear how he got it but he swears it was the real deal. Clenching it he moved to the side of the glowing red circle. Kneeling he carefully placed the stone at the centermost point and held out his staff. The power being drawn for the ritual was immense, much greater then anything he'd attempted at school. His breathing slowed, his body's magic growing in tune with that of the summoning circle. Taking one last breath he began speaking in rapid-fire Latin working through the western translation of the summoning incantation. His body and spirit on autopilot allowing his mind to wander.

~A few days before~

"Asuna-san, Have you seen my staff around?"

"Your staff?"

Asuna, Konoka, and Negi were on their usual jog to class, the field trip had finished two days ago and surprisingly things came back to normal.

"A mage should be more careful with their focus." The newest addition to the morning ritual Setsuna commented easily keeping up with the energetic pace.

"I always put it in the same place but when I woke up today it was gone." Negi looked down, biting his lip. If anything happened to his dad's staff he'd never forgive himself. A light rap atop his head brought him back to attention.

"Don't mope, we can look around after class all right?" Asuna offered him a smile, which he couldn't help but return.

"Right!"

They continued on to class, and Negi did his best to teach his group of high-spirited girls but his mind was far from the lesson. His mind was on Kyoto. Though he had made many beautiful memories, and three pactios, the danger had been near constant. Petrifaction... if any such skill got under Negi's skin it would be that.

That boy a shock of white hair, calm almost bored face, mixing brutal martial arts with deadly stone based spells. If it hadn't been for Evangeline I would have been beaten... Someone not much older then myself and I was totally outclassed. It was a sour pill to swallow but he now knew just how far he needed to go. His eyes scanned over his students as they practiced translation, a few missing due to an apparent cold going around. Ku Fei, Kaede, Mana, Setsuna, Chachamaru, Evangeline... all of them were strong and confident. They all stood on a higher level then himself. Who knew if other girls lurking in the midst were hiding abilities as well... at this point he wouldn't be too surprised.

I need to get even better... A flash of a cloaked man holding out a gnarled staff. If I'm going to see him again I have to...

The day moved on and classes came and went. Soon enough Asuna and Negi were back on their way to class, Konoka having dragged her bodyguard off for some much-needed bonding. Really, for all her power the swordsman seemed totally defenseless when it came to Konoka's smile. Not that Negi had not been similarly swayed by the girl on more then one occasion.

"Just let me drop off my things and then we can start looking around."

"Thank you Asuna-san, I really appreciate it."

"Just keep a better eye on it next time." Unlocking the door they headed into the room and their, in it's usual corner leaned Negi's mage staff.

"What..."

"Lost it huh?" sarcasm flowed alongside her words as she shook her head.

"But it wasnÆt there this morning I swear."

"Well anyway it's there now so no need to worry anymore, I'm going for an afternoon soak." Asuna placed her things down. "Something I expect you to do before bed."

"R-right." Negi sighed, he hated bathes. He did his best to put that issue aside and picked up his wayward staff, a small frown appearing on his face. "It's cold..." he allowed his magic to flow and the staff began to warm up immediately. Somehow the staff had used up some of its magic charge in its absence. "Hm."

"Yo Negi!" the teacher looked up to his person area to see Chamo hopping up and down. "Bro come up I have something you gotta see." Putting the staff issue aside he leaned it back in place and climbed up to his roost. His familiar was perched on the table, open laptop in front of him.

"What is it Chamo?"

"I got word from one of my buddies about a contest. Really hush hush but it's being held here on the campus. It sounds like the real deal."

"A contest?"

"Yeah, a competition of mages. The winner gets access to the Holy Grail, a powerful artifact, for a wish. We're talking true magic bro. You could wish more anything, not restriction!"

"Th-The Holy Grail?" The child teacher's eyes were wide. "The Holy Grail is here?!"

"Well I don't know if it's the same one as the legend but this contest has been going on here for nearly 400 years. The last time was a long while off, though y friend is positive this is the year it returns." Chamo could barely contain himself, this was an opportunity he couldn't let pass by... he just needed to get Negi see it. "Think of it Negi... anything you want."

"Anything?" several images passed through his mind. He could wish to be a magister magi but that would be a hollow victory... to see his father. No that would be far too selfish. Slowly a more unpleasant memory came to mind. The fire burned, the sky black with smoke and dark magic. People frozen in stone, faces contorted with fear a few fallen and broken, never to become whole again. "Even... My village." his voice was soft, unable to bring more strength to his voice so soon after the mental assault. His familiar blinked and turned his eyes away. That hadn't been a thought that he would have foreseen, thinking it would have been a bit more frivolous... but that was how his æbigÆ brother was.

"Yeah Negi, the Grail could probably fix everyone there."

"...What do I have to do?"

~Back at present~

The sun had almost set as Negi was coming the last few lines of the summoning. Would the grail find him worthy? It had too... This was for everyone back in Wales. For his sister and Anya too. He held his arm out into the circle, magical energy arcing up from the ground to his arm. Suddenly it felt like his arm was on fire. He gritted his teeth but could not hold back the screams of pain. Asuna started forward but Chamo stopped her.

"Not yet nee-chan. He's being tested."

"But it's hurting him."

"That's good."

"What? How can that be-"

"Look at his arm." Asuna focused more on the arm a series of red symbols fading into view, pulsing in tune with the circle below. "What in the world?"

"He's doing it, Hah I knew Bro would get chosen!"

"Negi..."

The boy fell to one knee, breathing hard and clutching his now freed arm. The burning sensation faded to a warmer more pleasant feeling. He looked at the symbols on his arm in wonder. They weren't in any language he knew but there were distinctly three, marked up his forearm to his wrist.

"Command seals."

"Negi, it's working get back a little." he didn't question his familiar's words and took a few steps back as the stone began to glow brightly. It warped and stretched into a portal of energy. With a rush of power a figure began to rise from the ground.

"Is it... Is it really King Arthur?" Negi watched with wide eyes and a racing heart. One of the greatest heroes of his homeland. The details began clearer. Clothes of a noble blue, armor gleaming and unblemished. Piercing green eyes leveled downward to meet his own.

"A woman?" Asuna muttered in surprise. Negi wasnÆt sure what to think, this wasn't who was supposed to arrive but she held an eerie beauty in her presence. Radiating with magical power, there was no doubt she was a servant.

"I ask of you." her voice was terse and to the point, expression serious and unwavering. "Are you my master?"

~~

AN - Well Yet another Negima story get's moving. Blame my Fate/Stay Marathon but I'm really liking this idea as it promises to be very interesting. the conflicts between masters, the interesting servents as well as a few of Negi's canon events all coming into play.

I would suggest that you go over the game with a fine tooth comb and use that instead of the anime. When it comes down to it the anime just plain sucked compared to the game.

Well that's a given since few visual novels adaptations ever go into the depth that source has... and yess I have spent much time going over the visual novel info. but it's not a strct cross over. Saber is the only character come over from fate stay and I have had to rewrite the grail war history to fit into negima so really aside the grail war system (which I have been looking into every source I could on) there wasn't too much I needed to worry about looking up.

and for the record I enjoyed the anime.

Well, the anime didn't outright suck, but compared to the level of detail and sheer awesome of the game, it really falls behind. Good in its own right, but it really doesn't hold a candle to the original.

The problem being that without the other paths being fully translated yet, unless you can read Japanese, then you lose what is probably the best benefit of having the game, which was to be able to see each path individually.

With the way Kinoko Nasu writes, being able to read Japanese is not a big benefit. Trust me.

Snippet

"Is it... Is it really King Arthur?" Negi watched with wide eyes and a racing heart. One of the greatest heroes of his homeland. Clothes of a noble blue, armor gleaming and unblemished. Piercing green eyes leveled downward to meet his own, Golden hair braid tightly and pulled up. The details became clearer as the light faded. The subtle swell of the breastplate, soft features despite a stern expression, noble blue tunic flowing downward into a... dress?

"A woman?" Asuna muttered in surprise. Negi wasnÆt sure what to think, this wasn't who was supposed to arrive but she held an eerie beauty in her presence. Radiating with a great amount magical power, there was no doubt she was a servant.

"I ask of you." her voice was terse and to the point, expression serious and unwavering. "Are you my master?"

1234321

Back at campus in a quaint little college Evangeline A.K. McDowell looked up from her tea toward the forest. Her server Chachamaru eyed her master curiously.

"Did you sense something piercing the barrier Evangeline-sama?"

"Not quite." She smiled in return, "Looks like it's almost time for it to begin." the android looked to the forest herself before turning to a third person in the room, sitting in the corner being waited on by two doll maids.

"Keh, it's about time." the man smirked, "I was starting to get bored."

"Patience is a virtue Berserker... you'll have your chance."

1234321

"Do you see?"

"No master the tree cover it too thick in that area."

"Hmph, probably why it was chosen." Chao gave a small sigh leaning against the trunk of the world tree. "Only one left... the war is as good as started now." she looked across to her companion, crouch on the high limp scanning the expansive forest. "Are you ready Archer?" The servant stood and stretched, accenting her curves when her loose tunic tightened with the motion.

"Of course Master, I'm always ready."

1234321

Zazie sat in her windowsill impassive eyes turned toward the forests. "Six..." she stated softly. A cloaked figure stood in the shadows behind her.

"Yes it's almost time to begin." Zazie turned to the figure, scanning over the shadowed features carefully.

"Caster... are you sure it will work?"

"Trust me master." the figure smiled easily, "All will go according to plan."

1234321

In a cave outside of Mahora a young boy mediates calmly. His eyes open partway but he says nothing. Leaning against the wall a man in a colorful mask looks outside the cave entrance. "Shall I investigate master? perhaps see if I can off early competition."

"No" Fate closed his eyes once more. "Continue the current plan of action, no need to show our hand so early... I already know who will step up first so why lose that advantage."

"Ah master is quite wise, I was fortunate be summoned by one such as you."

"I don't need your flattery just do your Job."

"Of course..."

1234321

Negi looked up to the servant, the whole situation robbing him of words. He managed a small nod, noting a slight frown on her lips.

"You are... younger then I would have expected. But the command seals are clear enough." she stood at attention. "I will be your blade master, use me to whatever means you wish."

"Um R-Right." Negi blushed slightly as he he got back to his feet. Asuna passed a sideways glance to the ermine on her shoulder.

"I thought you said the summon would be king Arthur?"

"Well it's suppose to, my source was reliable." he snorted indignantly. "At least she's the saber class. That's the class that best fits bro's style." before the debate could go on the was the sound of drawing steel, Saber gripping the air like sword.

"We are being watched." She jumped upward and slashed outward easily cleaving cleanly through the trunk of the nearest tree. The top half slide and tumbled off crashing to the ground. Kaede slipping out and rolling aside just before impact. "You are nimble but I will not let you go back to your master." Bouncing off a tree trunk she dived for Kaede with blinding speed.

"Stop!" Negi's arm glowed, "I won't let you hurt my students!" with a flare of power the top most command seal vanished. Saber halted her blade in mid strike allowing the ninja to disengage.

"My my, that was a close one. Swift and powerful, you chose well Negi-bozu." Somehow the brush with death hadn't shaken the ninja's laid back demeanor. Saber lowered her weapon and turned to Negi who still had his commanding arm out.

"Students?"

"Yes," the boy's voice was a little shaky but he did his best to steady it. "I teach English at a school nearby." He motioned to the girls. "This is Asuna Kagurazaka and Kaede Nagase, they are both in my class." Kaede gave a relaxed wave as Asuna gave a much more guarded nod.

"I see... I will abide by your command master," she lowered her 'weapon' seeming to put it away. "A child teaching older children. This is certainly a strange era."

"More like a strange set of circumstances-de gozaru."

ôAnd just who are you? I wanted to get the best servant for my brother.ö Chamo exuded a large amount of Bravdo but made no attempt to leave the relative safety of AsunaÆs shoulder. Saber frowned slightly.

ôA talking weasel?ö

ôErmine!ö

ôHm, either way my spirit was drawn quite clearly to your focus I see no error in this arrival though I do not appreciate such a tone from you rodent.ö

ôPlease donÆt fight you two.ö Negi cut in. ôIÆm sorry Saber-sanà WeÆre all just a little confused. We were trying to summon King Arthur, I guess there was some soft of mess up.ö he gave a small bow.

ôPlease master do not bow in my presence.ö A small amount of discomfort could be gleaned from her tone but as soon as it appeared it was gone. ôThough if your goal was to summon 'King Arthur' you were successful.ö

ôEh?ö

ôW-Wait.ö Asuna brought up a shakey finger. ôYOUR King Arthur?ö

ôThat is Correct Kagurazaka-san.ö

ôButàBut you a girl!ö

ôI am a servant.ö Saber calmly took the doubtful looks from the assembled group, this hadn't been the first time her true name has been questioned. Such was how history tended to be written, it was an image she had encouraged in her life... but still. ôI understand that my appearance is different from what anyone would expect. But that shouldn't be something that would surprise the you so much. You picked your focus to aim for my spirit after all.ö Her tone was frank an to the point.

ôEven so I... Your so young.ö Negi tried his best to be tactful, trying to wrap this concept around his young mind. The old legends and stories were a constant bedtime companion for the boy back in school, it had left him with an expectation. Fortunately he wasn't alone in his puzzlement. Asuna was just as thrown off, though wasn't nearly as up on the original myth... Fantasy had never been her thing. But this girl hardly looked a day older then herself. I she had been honest with herself she was kind of looking forward to the arrival of a strong older man. Saber gave a dissatisfied sigh.

"Of course you would wonder about my appearance, somehow. The instant I drew the sword of contract from the stone, I stopped aging through its magic, keeping my apparent youth. My people didn't even question my appearance at that time to begin with, as I was king. The only thing I was asked to do is fulfill my duty as a king." Asuna frowned slightly as Saber's statement, to live up to such an ideal and rule a country. She couldn't even imagine the pressure, she could barely handle school much less leading armies. Didn't seem fair to ask a young girl to handle that.

ôThe Sword Excalibur.ö The boy's expression shifted to one of anticipation looking up to his servant with wonder. ôYou mean you have it?ö

ôHm, You know if you've got the sword then their's really no dispute right?ö Chamo chimed in.

ôYeah! Could you show us?ö

ôIf that is your wish master.ö Saber nodded reaching to her side, gripping the air once more she closed her eyes. A strong breeze whipped through the clearing going out in all directions from the servant. Slowly it faded into views, the cloak of mana enhanced air dissipating revealing a golden blade. It was truly a work of a master, the blade adorned with runes looking fresh from the forge. It's magical aura was easily felt with the cloak of invisible air lifted.

ôAmazing.ö Kaede whispered, ôAncient and powerful magic-de gozaru.ö The ninja was somewhat new to the world of magic though even with her limited mystical senses she could tell this weapon, like it's owner, was a step above the aura's she had sensed.

ôThat's really it... The Sword of Promised Victory, granted by the Vivian, the lady of the lake.ö The young teacher was entranced by the image. The sword was one of the most power of the magic blades. As an avid reader of the mythes as well as a collector of artifacts it was a sight he couldn't well forget. ôI don't see the scabbard... I suppose Avalon's theft is still true in context of your legend...ö Saber blinked before giving a slow nod.

ôCorrect... You seem to know your lore Master.ö Her gave a nervous chuckle scratching the back of his head.

ôI'm a bit of a bookworm you could say.ö smiling through a flushing face he added, ôYour legend is actually one of my favorites... I still can't believe I'm really meeting you face to face. There's so many things I'd like to ask you.ö

ôI see.ö Saber wasn't exactly sure how to respond, she was hardly proud of her accomplishments, after all that was why she became a servant. It seemed she had received a peculiar master. ôPerhaps another time Master, it is best we begin to plan how we are to obtain the grail.ö she redirected the conversation away from herself without falter.

ôRight, best compare abilities and see if we can figure something out.ö Chamo chimed in.

ôOkay... I suppose that makes sense.ö Negi said with a small sigh, it seemed it would be business before pleasure. He had to remember the goal they were striving to. The Holy Grail and a chance to undue the greatest tragedy of his youth.

end snippet

Negi's a bit of a Myth and legends buff, and somewhat of a fanboy in relation to those of his home country which will be providing some humor. I to do a bit of looking up to how saber viewed her own portrayal in her legends as it was glossed over in the anime. If my sources are correct Saber is physically 16 but compared to the development of 3-A girls she doesn't look much older then most of them. Next up is the planning session and the night in the woods.

For the record, in Fate/Stay Night lore, the sword drawn from the stone was Caliburn, not Excalibur. You might already have gotten that particular piece of information, but it wasn't very clear in the snippet.

I think Saber revealing her identity so easily, especially with more than just her Master in audience, doesn't quite fit. Recall that Saber at first refused to reveal her identity to Shirou, because his lack of experience and ability as a magic user would make it possible for the enemy to extract that information from him by force. She might not have such concerns about Negi, personally, but with Asuna, Kaede, and a talking rodent around, she'd definitely clam up.

I did like the part about Negi's first use of a Command Seal, and I think that might have some interesting ramifications in the future.

I did know the difference, I'm sorry if the dialog confused things.

I may argue this point unlike fate stay Negi knowingly used a focus to summon King Arthur. I see no reason why Saber would not admit it, I looked over how she was summoned in Fate/Zero and it was more like this. Were they were expecting 'king Arthur' and Arthuria appeared and this was how she explained it out in conversation with Ilya's mother... as for the other's being there it wasn;t like they arrived after she appeared. they watched her get summoned and all of them knowing Negi was trying to summon king Arthur.... that and there in the middle of the woods with no other masters around.

I'm glad you enjoyed that much, it seemed very in character and that command is meant to have far reaching effects...

To say the truth I find this interesting... (as a Type-MOON fan) really. (still... Negi could have summoned another Heroic Spirit)

So how will you develop/introduce Saber and also will eventualy Avalon appear? Be found somewhere in Mahora?

Will Gilgamesh also appear, a leftover from the previous war (did Nagi enter the old war also?).

Also I have to wonder what are the Noble Phantoms of the other characters, and which hero is which... anyway I hope to have a good read...

Thanks for all...

kinda curious how they summoned saber (arturia) as opposed to any of the other heros as the only reason she was summoned in the original fate series was due to kitsuragi and shiro having avalon on-hand, kitsuragi found it and used it as a catalyst to get Arturia specifically, while shiro had it stuffed in his body so it acted as a catalyst once again and summoned her. Though the stone the sword was stuck in was important i don't think it would have the significance of avalon and summon saber.

though good concept curious to see how you'll pull it off.

other things i have issues with is I can't see Negi going along with the concept of the holy grail war (namely negi going with killing other people/spirits just to bring people back), though i guess shiro was the same way but his involvement was unexpected rather then just purposely getting into it.

I kept Saber simply because I liked the character as a female lead (and I figured on several ties to how it could work out and fun scenes that could be made). The history of the war is different then in fate/stay canon... the grail is not curropted (though a force is trying to) and the kill count is far less in this world as Mahora keeps a close watch on the proceedings... it can happen but it's far less likely. Negi in particular has not intention of killing anyone... though two partisipating mages are not so friendly(Monkey girl and Fate) and even some of the 'friendles' can be quite ruthless (Eva, Chao and potentially Zazie). He admittedly jumped into this without too much thought (as negi tends to do).

Azure: Avalon... admittedly I aven't given that too much thought. I'm open to suggestions my original plan was Chamo would be searching for it throughout the fic coming up with fakes and replicas until finally getting the really thing later on in the fic. *shrug* if anyone has any better ideas I'm willing to hear them

Aruthia is the only canon servent from fate stay that is in here, I covered the cast in the 'trailer' in the idea section.

Also as a not this is really a low prioity story to me... Quiet ones and Magic within are my two top ideas closely followed by A place to belong and possibily Tsukimi. I may come back to this at some point but as of now it's far less likely... but my muse is fickle so you never know.

A small thing I noticed

ôHm, You know if you've got the sword then their's really no dispute right?ö Chamo chimed in.
their's should be there's.

On another note, I agree with the thought that Saber gave away her identity way too easily. That being linked with her revealing Excalibur. It takes a notible amount of mana to release the seal on the sword, something that she would not do just to let her Master see it.

Also, be sure to sort of fix her way of doing everything. She DID change a lot in F/SN after all. I remember she gave up trying for the grail, so that would play a significant role in how everything plays out.

About battles, be sure to level the abilities and strengths of each of the warriors accordingly. Nearly NO human should be able to fight Servants on an even level even if they are magicians. That may come in conflict with how everything plays out, due to the overpowering of so many people in Negima though.

Also, if think about it, since this takes place in the Negima universe, the heros from the magic war can most likely be summoned as well.

For all of the Servants you use however, they need to have some artifact that has some relations with the Servant. The chance of Negi summoning Saber without it is actually impossible, so maybe you should tie in having some stray piece of King Arthur's past items?

And about Avalon, Shirou returned it to Saber before the final battle.

@Zero: this means that Caliburn will work fine. The problem is that it was supposedly lost or destroyed or something along those lines.

I also suggest that you try not to drag in too many girls from the story. It will make it needlessly complicated and messy, along with somewhat distracting due to the tone set by the war. What i mean is, try not to have everyone find out that Negi is a mage/master >.< Having the canon Negima story play a role in this fic will be extremelly difficult, just as a warning.

PS. Negi is turning out to be a real pansy Shirou XD

I know Saber is the only canon servant, but I can only imagine what would happen if Rider was there. Either if he summoned her, or someone else did. With his hatred of petrification, it would not go well. I'm not sure he would be able to cooperate with her to win. Probably be kinda angsty, or dark.

Or he could have asked Rider about indepth information on petrification. I mean the person who was known for being one of its first users would probably know more than anyone else about it right? Heck, with them working together to maybe make a cure he might not need the holy grail for that wish and if he then won he could use it for something else.

really just depends on what/where your going for the story, i mean if you decide to go with Nagi was in the previous Grail war or such. I would say have it be that the Nagi's staff is the disguised avalon or maybe a plot key to where the avalon is stored as it would tie it quite easily into why he gave it negi and why Arturia was summoned.

Negi's command was just "stop." So he ended up just getting Saber to stop attacking. The "I won't let you hurt my students" is more of a statement. You might want to either rephrase that with him shouting something like "don't hurt my studentS" (because, again, if the command was just "student" it'd only apply to the one she was currently attacking... Although I dunno that he'd yell "students" when Saber's just attacking one so, meh.) or just forget possible ramifications.. which could probably be undone with another command seal.

One more thing; Berserker's protection would count as a Noble Phantasm of its own. Ilya's Berserker had God Hand as a noble phantasm; his very BODY was a regenerating and ressurecting armor. Also, I think your Berserker was killed because the arrow he was shot with was POISONED. "Only vulnerable spot" doesn't automatically mean getting hit there is a one-hit kill, unless the vulnerable spot is on your back like, say, Siegfried, where being struck there is normally a fatal wound anyway. Sadly, whenever a hero has some sort of protection with only one vulnerable point, outside of the original legend people always write that spot as being not only the only *unprotected* spot, but also a one-hit kill... If the hole in his defense is his eye or neck, it's understandable. If it's a less vital area, you'd need poison...

Of course, there's another way to bypass such protections; "Which side of the dog is the hairiest?" The OUTside. Slipping someone some poison or hitting the nose, ears, mouse, belly button or, er, groin, or inflicting internal damage might work...

EDIT: Gah, stupid 1-minute after the fact edit.... Why's everybody asking how Negi could summon Arturia? Didn't the author mention he used a piece of the stone from which Caliburn was drawn from? That's more than a good enough of a connection. Gilgamesh was summoned by using the fossil of the first snake. The only connection snakes have in his story, is that a snake stole the item Gilgamesh was going to use to gain immortality. It wasn't even the skin of the very snake that stole it, just an old fossil... And considering it's a fossil, it's probably way older then the thousands-year old Epic of Gilgamesh. And Rin's archer was summone because of some gem she'd used on Shirou I think... A fragment of the stone which held Caliburn is a very good connection. :sisi:

the main issue as noted with the stone is that there were alot of heros associated with arthurian legends, Kitsuragi and Shiro only def got Arturia was due to avalon, As opposed to Lancalot/Merlin/etc..

Usually it's personality and/or major catalyst that triggers the hero, as i said his method works it just not as clear cut as the original Fate stories have them.

Grail 5

Saber: Avalon.
Rider: Similar background to Sakura and the desire to prevent the same sort of tragedy from happening to her.
Lancer: Earrings passed on in the Fraga family.
Assassin: Ties to Ryuudouji during life.
True Assassin: Assassin's body - this particular Hassan was summoned by having the same desire for eternity as Zouken did.
Berserker: Temple foundation of Hercules.
Caster: Unknown.
Archer: Rin's pendant.

Grail 4

Saber (King Arthur): Excalibur's sheath, Avalon
Archer (Gligamesh): The fossilized skin shed by the snake that ate Gilgamesh's herb of immortality. Wiki 'the Epic of Gilgamesh' for more details.
Lancer (Diarmuid Ua Duibhne): Unknown, though it is confirmed that his Master used a catalyst
Caster (Gille de Rais): Both he and his Master had identical personalities. Both were sadistic, psychopathic murderers.
Rider (Alexander the Great): A scrap of cloth from a cloak once worn by Alexander
Assassin (Hassan-i-Sabah): Unknown if catalyst was used.
Berserker (Lancelot of the Lake): No catalyst used. At the end of his life, his mental state mirrored that of his Master's; self-loathing, guilt, and despair at how his actions had hurt those close to him.
