The Grudge

Shiro Emiya had a rough night.

Staying after school just to help out a friend instead of scraping in some extra hours from the convenience store has so far led to him to experience the following events:

1) One hellacious battle on the school grounds between two guys that couldn't possibly be human duking it out like they were filming a movie where Soul Calibur met Dragon Ball Z.
2) One of said guys discovering he was there.
3) Said guy stabbing him to death (yep, pretty certain he was stabbed to death; bloody holes in school uniform don't lie).
4) Somehow waking up unstabbed to death (and discovering that, should the need arise, he could clean up a messy crime scene pretty damn efficiently).
5) Going home, only for the guy that stabbed him to death to show up at his house, presumably to re-stab him to death.

Which led up to this mess he was caught up in right now -- running for the life he just got back, as he felt this was no more 1Up Mushrooms lying around in wait for him to accidentally stumble upon. Or, if there, where, he was reasonably sure, none would be secretly lurking around in his workshop.

"Looks like the end of the road," Shiro heard the man in blue say as he set foot on his sacred grounds. The long crimson lance in the stranger's hand led forward like a guard dog sniffing out an escaped felon. It pointed at him, once again, a wry smirk on the owner's face. "You're more interesting than I thought. You might have even been the Seventh."

"The Seventh?" Shiro spoke, breathing hard -- all that running and feeble fighting agaisnt a veritable monster with only a Reinforced metal poster tends wear people out.

A small shrug as the lance rose up to level with Shiro's chest, its dark intent clear. "Eh, it's nothing you need to know now. Please die properly now."

Just as the man's muscles tightened to deliver the deadly thrust, a flash of light threw him back on guard. "What?"

Shiro spun around to witness the source of luminescence as well, only to be stumped upon seeing a magic circle carved into the floor. From the center of the circle, a shadowy shape rose up, its very presence seemingly crushing upon his very soul. The stranger with the lance backpedaled as well, his face a mix of puzzlement and dread.

"What the hell?" the lancer inquired openly. "Another Servant?"

The light rapidly bled out, dropping the workshop back into darkness. A clanking sound later, and a small fire burned into view, encased in a lantern.

Shiro blinked as he studied what had arisen from the magic circle. Even at best guess, the being brought forth only stood about four feet tall. Even more bizarre, it looked like a turtle with its jade skin and globular golden eyes. Wearing what appeared to be a monk's robe made of old burlap, it held up the glowing lantern with its... flippers. Old brown shoes tapped idly on the ground, drawing Shiro's attention to one other strange development -- it had a tail like a fish.

"What the hell kind of thing did you summon?" the lancer spoke, bewilderment plain on his face. "This can't be a Servant..."

Shiro still didn't understand what was going on, but in some manner, he had to agree with the strange man -- whatever this was, it looked more like a Muppet than something that could save his life.

The odd green creature turned its head towards Shiro, as if to say something. Though how was it going to speak when it had no mouth?

"Help?" was all Shiro could think of.

The creature nodded and turned back to the man in blue. it reached into the deep folds of its robe and produced--

Shiro blinked, feeling more and more lost and confused. "A chef's knife?"

The lancer, however, shook off his enchantment for the situation and leveled his lance at the creature. "Heh. So you intend to fight after all?"

It didn't speak, just slowly walk towards him, chef's knife gleaming in the light of the lantern in its other hand.

"Must be suicidal," the man spoke, and he jabbed his lance into the creature's body.

It stumbled back a step or two, though there was no greeting of blood.

"Huh?" The Lancer's face twisted up in detestable protest. "Doesn't this thing bleed? And what's with the look on your face?"

Shiro's attention, unconsciously riveted upon the scene, wrenched away to see what the stranger was seeing. And he started to backpedal without knowing why.

The creature looked... annoyed.

It reached out with its chef knife slowly. The lancer just watched it, mesmerized, as a small bead of sweat broke. Just what was it going to do now?

----

"Hurry Archer," Rin Tosaka commanded her Servant. "We have to save--"

=DOINK=

Archer's eyes widened. "Did I just hear a 'Doink'?"

Rin looked at him. "A 'Doink'?"

"SWEET MOTHER OF GOD! MY INSIDES!"

Archer sighed and rubbed his temples as Rin clutched his arm in apprehension. "Yep, I just heard a 'Doink'... Oh, well, let's go home."

"What? We can't just leave Emiya-kun be! Lancer will--"

"Lancer's already died a hilariously horrific death, if that scream was anything to go by."

"Wh-what? But how?"

"Tonberry."

Rin couldn't explain just why did she had a sudden chill run down her back upon hearing that one word, but she brooked Archer no further argument.

Only if it was a king. Several servants could put up a fight. Even Archer could do it if he got the drop on it. Though with all the people Archer's killed as a counter Guardian......I wonder how powerful everyone's grudge would be if it hit him.

It's a good thing it has HP instead of internal organs.

Why isn't this in the previews section?

Probably because it's only going to be a oneshot, I'd guess.
