Or the only reference books officially translated to English thread.
I recently purchased both these reference books from Amazon and just got them in the mail. I'm going to be reading them and posting various interesting details and observations. If anyone would like me to transcribe a particular subject, character or jutsu's information then feel free to make a request.
To begin:
* Amagakure has no academy and no traditional ninja ranks. I wonder how they organize their shinobi? Surely they must have a chain of command, and it would be rather inefficient if they don't have official ranks and a hierarchy.
* The Guardian Shinobi Twelve, the organization who were tasked with defending the Fire Lord and of which Asuma was a member, are disbanded. I wonder who guards the Fire Lord now?
* The databook has a rather glaring error in the character data key. It shows a slightly incorrect symbol for Iwagakure and calls it "Ishigakure". How did they fuck that up? That incorrect symbol is repeated on each Iwa-nin's character page next to their names, but the correct symbol is still shown on each of their headbands on the same freaking pages!
* Tenten's character page includes one rather amusing line.
Now I have a mental image of all of Akatsuki being crowded around Zetsu, watching his recorded footage of Tenten fighting Kisame's clones. As she unseals her weapons they flinch back in shock and start shouting: "What?! How did she do that?!" "Incredible!" "With skills like those, she must have an enormous bounty on her head." "Jashin would be very pleased if I sacrificed this powerful woman!" "We must discover her secrets!"
Meanwhile back in Konoha, Tenten suddenly shivers and is overcome with the terrifying thought that she had gained some very unwanted attention from some very scary people. 'No, I'm just being paranoid. I'm not an important person nor do I have any enemies, so no one would be out to get me... right?"
* The old Grandma Cat in that ruined city doesn't just sell supplies to the Uchiha clan. She's the chief of a clan of black marketers who deal in ninja weapons. Her ninja tool store is known throughout the five great countries and she sells weapons to many important clients. They are famous for their collection of rare scrolls. The Uchiha have been their customers for a long time.
* The official doctrine of Jashinism is "Thou shalt kill thy neighbor."
* Gai prefers weapons without blades. I wonder why. Maybe he doesn't like the sight of blood?

Through daily training, Tenten has sharpened her skills and increased the myriad of weapons she has at her disposal. Her prowess even has the Akatsuki dumbfounded.
