The Pokemon Topic

If it stops being hit by priority attacks, that's actually a lot better, since Normal is never super-effective.

English names for nine new Pokemon
http://bulbanews.bulbagarden.net/wiki/English_names_of_nine_Sun_and_Moon_Pok%C3%A9mon_revealed

Tapu Kokeko = Tapu Koko. Ability translated as 'Electric Maker' is 'Electric Surge'. New move 'Wrath of Nature' will be Nature's Madness. It apparently is a Super Fang clone.

Denjimushi -> Kuwaganon = Charjabug -> Vikavolt. This is actually a line of three, it starts with the previously revealed Grubbin. Newly revealed ability 'Battery', allows it to raise the power of allies' special moves.

Jijiron = Drampa. Ability translated as 'Frenzy' is 'Berserk'. This ability raises its Special Attack one stage when its HP falls below half.

Hagigishiri = Bruxish. Ability translated as 'Vivid Body' is 'Dazzling'. This ability blocks increased priority moves.

Aburi = Cutiefly. It can have 'Honey Gather' or 'Shield Dust' as its ability.

Togedemaru (name unchanged). Can have 'Lightning Rod' or 'Iron Barbs' as its ability.

Iwanko = Rockruff. Can have 'Keen Eye' or 'Vital Spirit' as its abilities. Will evolve at least once.

Nekkoara = Komala. Ability translated as 'Sure Sleeper' is 'Comatose'. This ability keeps it asleep, meaning it's invulnerable to other status. This may be the worst ability ever.

Worst ability ever? Well, I still think it is slakoth ance slacking's. This one makes it immune to other stats, which is plenty useful if you don't count on Rest on it - although it MAY force it to keep Sleep Talk. The other, does it have ANY positive?

The worst abilities, imo, are the following in some order

*Slow Start (cuts Attack and Speed in half for five turns once it is in battle)
*Truant (forces the user to waste every other turn)
*Defeatist (cuts Attack and Special Attack in half when HP falls below half)
*Stall (always moves last in each priority bracket, but does nothing to power)
*Comatose (stay asleep, apparently never wake up)

The first two make potential Ubers (Regigigas, Slaking) into bottom-tier trash. The third makes Archeops a huge disappointment when it should be highly ranked.

Definitive rankings vary.

As long as you got Sleep Talk and all Attacking Moves it's worth it. No paralysis to cut your speed. No burns to lower your attack and no Poison to wear you down.

Sleep Talk is completely random and there is no guarantee that this mon will even be able to learn it. This may be a case of Game Freak really wanting the mon to suffer its ability.

Information on Zygarde's higher forms.
When the HP of a Zygarde 10% Forme or 50% Forme with Power Construct falls below half, it changes into Complete Forme.

Since Zygarde Complete Forme has a higher base HP stat, Zygarde gains HP equal to the difference between its old maximum HP and its new maximum HP upon changing form.

Power Construct is the US name for Swarm Change.

Pokemon Go is live in NA.

So far I've caught Squirtle (as my starter), Eevee, Psyduck, Pidgey, and Tentacruel.

They say NA, but it's not available in Canada yet. At least, not legitimately.

Server is constantly in and out, so I'll get on for a few minutes then the game will stop updating stuff, and then I'll realize it crashed again.

I did get a lot of time in this morning though, with quite a bit of travel and gym fights.

Gyms are buggy as fuck- Most of the time (like 99%) the final pokemon won't "die". It'll sit at 0 health, and either continue to attack (fucking raticates spamming hyper fang to oneshot half my dudes), or just sitting there. As far as I can tell, once it starts to just sit there, it counts it as a win for you, but you can get fucked on needing to use recovery items afterwards.

I also picked the wrong team for my area- every gym except for two I took is Team Red, whereas I'm team Blue. Like 15 Team Red gyms that I've passed by today. That sucks : (

Various area's seem to have particular pokemon they spawn- My neighborhood is awash with Tentacool and Psyduck, along with Magikarp/Rattata/Pidgeys. Eevee and Dratini also spawn rarely by me. I've caught a Tentacruel, and I just spent 10 minutes chasing down a Golduck that I'm pretty sure was in some dude's backyard, so I couldn't get it before the server crashed.

The starbucks by me (which is also a gym, though the gym is named after the shopping center its in) also spawns Pinsirs for some reason. I've seen a number of bug types (including a scyther!) near one of the forests by me, which makes sense. I've also seen a ton of grass types mostly near shopping centers.

Well, this explains why I'm getting all those crappy urban and bug type pokemon where I live.

Closer to water, I see some Poliwags and stuff. Saw a bulbasaur nearby but couldn't get it.

New Pokemon: Salandit (Poison/Fire, unique typing)
New ability: "Corrosion", allows it to inflict Poison status on any Pokemon type, including Poison and Steel
http://bulbanews.bulbagarden.net/wiki/New_Pok%C3%A9mon_Salandit_revealed_at_Japan_Expo_in_France

I was really hoping this typing would first show up on a Mega Weezing or Weezing evolution ... pity.

I first thought that thing was a Poison/ Dark when i was skimming through i think it was kotaku yesterday. And after consulting a type effectiveness calculator, that thing is going to get wrecked by ground type moves, has a 4X multiplier on damage from what it was showing me.

Probably because of the server issues. It was actually probably a smart move to stagger the release so they could work out issues that they've been having.

I don't think they were expecting the load they got to hit them all at once the way it did. It probably had a bigger launch than they were expecting.

Pretty sure they knew it would have a good run and that they'd eventually reach the point they're at now, just not the immediate launch numbers they got. Their servers were not ready and they're still trying to catch up to the load. A Canadian launch would have outright melted the northern servers, particularly the north eastern servers.

Most likely because there was no region lock besides the store system. In androids, you just need to start the Apk.

Of course, NOW they are locking it for people of, for personal example, Brazil from what I heard - and even a brazilian friend living in Japan can't use it yet until 30.

Pokemon Go is getting close to passing up Twitter in terms of daily users. This is a global stat, and Pokemon Go isn't even global yet.

I doubt it can keep up this sorta insanity, but its rather impressive for what it is.

A new commercial has just gone up and it  shows off the new pokemon however that isn't the real meat of it. The real meat of it is that is seems to show off Synchro or synergy moves.

Pokemon Go has turned kids into mindless car ignoring zombies in my neighborhood.

The wander out into the streets without so much as a glance at what might be coming.

These are actual kids mind you, not some 15 year old brain dead teen. Most of them seem to be around 8-11 years old and it's easy to tell what they are doing on their phones. It's also worth noting that this is a parking area and the speed limit is around 10 mph.

I can't go more than about two miles an hour in my neighborhood during the day right now because of it, and they often just kind of hang out in the middle of the road ignoring people trying to drive through. It's worse than sheep in the country or ducks from a retention pond because they're so brain dead about it.

None of them seem to have any concept of the fact that you don't have to be standing right next to a pokemon to catch it and that it can be done from a fair distance away.

Saw the cop that lives in my neighborhood chewing several out today by the sidewalk because they were obstructing traffic. Doubt it will do a lot of good.

They really do need to update the game so they don't spawn within a certain distance of roads or make it so that pokemon across a road can't be seen to discourage idiots of any age from running after them carelessly trying to chase the fuckers down.

I've come close to hitting three different kids even driving at a crawl because they suddenly jumped out from behind parked cars with their cell phones held up in front of them running after spawns in my neighborhood. The little fools think they're safe because it's a parking area and not a main road, but a lot of residents drive through a lot faster than they should and one of the little zombies is going to get creamed soon if they keep it up.

See a lot of adults playing too, but never see them by or on the roads going after Pokemon, nor do they obstruct foot or vehicle traffic because of it.
