The Pokemon Topic

I just realised the Pokemon show is (probably) more impressive than I first gave it credit for, at least from an animation perspective. Most animated shows love to reuse the shit out of assets. Pokemon is constantly introducing new settings, characters, and 'mons with each episode.

(New) Pokemon Snap for the Switch releases on April 30th

I think the new Snap was rumored for at least a couple years before its announcement.

I'm still only interested in DPP remakes.

Personally, I'd prefer a Remake of Coliseum to Snap.

A new Snap was rumoured probably since at least the Wii, though at the time it was (likely) just still rumours, given the remote. Ditto with the WiiU Gamepad. Who knows how long the preliminary discussions were going on at Nintendo.

I'm still surprised at how Nintendo is able to keep these things under wraps. They only announced it in June last year, and now it's being released 10 months later. Paper Mario: Origami King was released even more quickly. If it was Ubisoft, I know they'd probably have all their titles for the next five years leaked out!

Remakes of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl announced. I'm sure there will be many divisive opinions. Just as long as they have the entire fucking Pokedex this time (Narrator: they didn't). Late 2021.

A single-player action RPG, Pokemon Legends Arceus, that takes place in feudal-era Sinnoh, was also announced. Early 2022.

Nice. Do want.

Also...if this is supposed to take place in feudal times, it'd be a nice touch if Pokemon species that in lore had declining numbers in the modern day had larger numbers in this. And the reverse for species that proliferated in modern day (I don't remember if Grimer and Muk were in Sinnoh in D/P/P, but if they were, they should be completely non-existent in the feudal era).

Ash Ketchum would make a great hobby fisherman. He loves to catch and release.

On Pokemon GO, I've caught a bit over 28k Pokemon. Fewer than 4k are still with me. :p There are people who have caught hundreds of thousands...

I never got into Pokemon Go. It wouldn't be bad too, though. It would at least get me out and moving!

Also, New Pokemon Snap is out next month!

The lyrics to this were going non-stop in my head lately, even though I haven't listened to it in probably over half a decade

New Pokemon Snap out today. I'm waiting for my physical copy to be delivered by mail because in Canada several provinces are making non-essential mean non-essential.

Pokemon Unite is now out. It is a free MMO battle arena game that was announced last year, currently with I believe 20 Pokemon released so far?

I won't be touching it, though. On general principle I try to boycott Chinese corporations, and Tencent is helping to develop it.

There's supposed to be a Pokemon Presents on the 18th, so we should get some more Pokemon news then.

It's kind of hard to get excited about Pokemon News after the P2W Unite, and the least interesting Sw&Sh.

The Presents was an update on the Diamond/Pearl remakes, and the Legends: Arceus game. Legends at least seems interesting.

Have they shown any more of Legends? Because, the premise seemed interesting, but the trailer looked like it was made up of Pre-Alpha footage.

Yeah. For once I really wish they'd actually try to do a substantial graphical upgrade. The style hides it a lot, but this is definitely a few generations behind what the Switch could do.

Meanwhile, me, just now: "Holy shit the Switch is kinda awesome!"
(Even if Let's Go Eevee is just a bit too easy for my liking, goddamn is that Eevee adorable as all hell.)

Of the three new starters i like the grass types looks the most, but my love of reptiles calls out to the dopey little trashcan on legs that is Fuecoco. Here is to hoping that evolving makes it looks less like it came out of Bubble Bobble
