Alright, I have no idea if this has ever been done before and I don't care to look. The premise is Starcraft... crossed with Pokemon. The stated purpose of the Overmind is to seek total genetic purity by absorbing the strongest races possible to incorporate into the Swarm. So how about if, before discovering the Protoss or Terrans, they discovered the planet where Pokemon lived? You can't tell me that the Overmind wouldn't go gaga over trying to absorb them into itself; sure there are a lot of rejects, but there are also pokemon who could go toe to toe with anything (one on one, I mean) the Zerg could dish out and win. Add in the Psychic types and the legendaries, and there's no way you could say it ain't interested.
This story could go one of two ways; extreme crack with the Overmind constantly being thwarted in his takeover attempts by "those meddling kids," or extremely dark, with the humans and pokemon banding together to try to take on this implacable enemy (think like Process of Elimination, but substitute Zerg for the Reapers).
