So, plus or minus 5 years until the next ASOIAF novel?

Interestingly enough, I noticed that TFF was created in November 2005, while AFFC was released in October 2005. So it took the entirety of TFF's existence and a month up til July to finish one novel :/

Story

'Martin is promising his fans a tad quicker finish to the sixth and penultimate book in the series, "The Winds of Winter." He says he already has 200 pages written and hopes to have it finished in two, maybe three years.'

So in other words, 2020?

You think that soon?

I figure he'll suffer a bacon-induced heart attack by 2018 and after recovering have a new view of the world in which he attempts to finish his books instead of eating more bacon and watching every NFL game.

Last book of the series? In that interview he is talking about 2 more books so better scedule for 2025...Unless of course he changes his mind again and decide to stretch it even more and go for 9... He has done it before after all.

I think the titles of the ASOIAF books are a metaphor for Martin's battle with his fattiness.

'A Dance with Dragons' describes his constant fight with an opponent that is so ferocious that he may as well be a knight trying to slay a towering, fire-breathing dragon.

'The Winds of Winter' describes his metaphorical journey through his bouts of depression as he realises he won't even be skinny again.

'A Dream of Spring' is all about his dreaming of his being skinny again.

Now that I'm over my fit of cruelty (yes I know that was mean)...finish the damn book already

Heh heh, fat jokes. They're always funny.

Seriously though, I wasn't a fan of the last book. Ending on THAT cliffhanger of all cliffhangers was cruel. Also, there was too much Dany in it, and Dany is my least favorite character who I don't abjectly despise.

It did, however, have Arya, Jon and Tyrion, and best of all no Sansa

I love reading interviews where he says he's 'hard at work' on Winds of Winter.

Of course, now that ASOIAF is a tv series HBO is probably pressuring him to hurry up so they don't run out of material first

I know I'm necro-ing a bit here, but am I the only one that finds this series fucking depressing? Jesus, can we have a good guy win one every once and awhile? I liked Jon, and Robb, and sandor clegane. They were the only honest people in the damn books!

That's what crossover fanfiction is for!

Hmm. Twilight Sparkle messes up a teleportation spell, and dumps the Mane Cast in the world of ASoIaF, in time for them to meet up with Eddard Stark, work out that the heir is illegitimate, and win the day with the power of Friendship and ludicrously powerful Unicorn magic?

How did I miss the last few posts?

I'm glad I missed them for even a few days, in any case.

Martin has ~400 pages done now for the next book.

I am calling it now, it will be the year 2016 before we get the next book.

Maybe someone should tell him that most books are under 400 pages.

We should only hope the price of pork doesn't go up and he doesn't run out of money for bacon, otherwise he might start moneyhatting and crap out 7 more books of 400 pages each for extra money.

It looks like that whole thing about pork prices going up was disproven.

In other news, George R.R. Martin is still fat. And no new updates in the last three months that I can find for The Winds of Winter.

The only thing that we know for sure is that it's comming...

the problem is when.

Seriously the only recent news we got about the damn book is when Martin's gets interviwed for the start of season 3 and even then it's only that he is working on it.

btw just how old is Martin?

We don't know for sure it's coming since I don't think he's ever publicly said what would happen if he dies before it gets finished.

He's 64, but once you factor in all his bacon-bingeing he has the blood veins of a 90-year-old.

The REAL QUESTION

+/- 2 million posts on TFF before The Winds of Winter releases?

So... If I'm understanding you correctly, The Winds of Winter will be released sooner if we all post more. Quickly people! We need to get more people to join and post now! :p

In that case +/- 3 million posts?

Well, we're at 1 and a quarter million posts now and still no sign of Winds of Winter
