So...out of all my stories, I've always liked the premise of TSTB the best. Problem is that I wrote some shitty ass plot elements. So here's where I'll post snippets when I have time/inspiration. This just takes the bare bones of that story.
Note:Naruto has mastered all aspects of shinobi-ism. At this point even powered down he makes Prime!Sarutobi look like chump. Never mind, Sage, Full Kyuubi(more power/control after receiving the key) and Sage/Kyuubi combo (Someone called it his war form once. Props.) I'd say powered down, he's maybe a tad stronger than Ban-Kai Byakuya(note that he has some mad strong jutsu and seals at this point). Powered up I'll put him at around, but not quite Yama's level of strength.

A relic from a past world idled lazily in Karakura park. The days were, for the most part, his relaxing time. After all, Hollow's and Shinigami didn't usually terrorize people until night. Until lately. For the past couple months, Hollow's had been appearing like mad and he wasn't entirely sure why. His contacts weren't forthcoming, and as a collector of information, it was troubling.
It's gotta do something with Isshin's kid...but that can't be enough. Shinigami captains and vice captains, the Vizard, Urahara, Yoruichi, and Tessai...all of them moving at almost the same time. Even Isshin killed a hollow recently, and for the first time in twenty years.
"Naruto-kuuuuuun..."
Naruto sat up on the bench he occupied. A man wearing a green striped hat that shadowed his eyes and geta sandals stood before him.
"Kisuke...What do you need?"
"Hey, hey. That's no way to talk to an old friend! Where's the small talk?"
Ugh. So much like Kakashi.
"Cut it, Kisuke. If you wanted company you would've either built a friend or come to the bar."
"Ahh...I bet you're not that into foreplay, hm Naruto?"
Naruto chuckled. "I guess not, anymore...but baby I got endurance for hours."
"You've had a while to practice. Anyway...you're right. I need some data. A couple sets, if possible. An arrancar attacked the other night, more advanced than any we've seen. I wasn't able to get to it in time due to complications."
Naruto nodded. "I'd be a failure if I didn't. Yea, my sealing technique can tell you all about him. Changes in spirit DNA, before and after comparisons, abilities, spirit potential and estimated potential for varying Meinos Grande having undergone the same situation. Grand Fisher was one I'd had tagged for a while. He had potential. What about the other set?"
"Ichigo Kurosaki."
"No such luck. The kid has been surrounded lately, and there's no getting through Isshin. Had I known he'd be such a focus of attention, I'd have tagged him before his pops regained power."
"What do you want for the Arrancar information? Another gigai to study? I've been working on a new one, it's a quick combat form meant to provide a distraction."
"Not this time. I want information from you."
"Oho? And what is it the great old one hasn't been able to gleam for himself?"
"What has everyone in such a scurry? The Kurosaki's, your group, the Vizard, Gotei 13, an advanced Arrancar...What's happening?"
"Hmm Naruto....I dunno if this is an equal trade. My information carries a lot of weight...and I'm sure I could gleam most of the same information as yours, given some time."
"The question is: Do you have that time, Urahara? I'm no fool. You're all preparing for war. I can get information like this in a heart beat. You have to preform long and tedious experiments. Without my information you lack key information about basic Arrancar genetics and abilities that might surprise you and your comrades in battle."
"...Throw in a concealing seal and you have a deal."
Naruto grinned. "You love those things, huh." Two scrolls poofed into existence, Naruto bit his thumb and pressed it against both of them. "There you go. They're both activated for use." He threw them to Urahara.
Urahara tipped his hat. "Much appreciated. I'll see you at the shop later for your half."
With that, the rogue Shinigami disappeared.
Naruto smirked. As if I'd give Ichigo's information away for so cheap. That will be a lot more useful to me later, I think.
With a jaunty whistle, the ancient started his walk back home.
