Yea. I think someone misinterpreted that. Otherwise EMIYA would have just spammed that sword instead of any other sword.

it's still a sword and Shirou is still forbidden to trace it.}as for Durandal, i always tought that the three miracles involved some sort of protection for the wielder and that the blade could cut/slice/pierce trough things it should not been able to.

considering that the GARm allowed him to wield a piece of marble of at least half a ton one handed and at supersonic speeds? yes he can OTOH he doesn't need to actually wield it he can either shoot it or just let it drop a la Rods from God Kinetic Bombardment.
