Callandor only drives you mad if you're channeling through it. And that's only while saidin is tainted.

eh, my expectation was that given universal constants/differences Shirou would use it to channel Mana which seems like the local equivalent of the One power. Though a good point on the fact that Saidin probably isn't tainted in the Type-Moon verse, I hadn't thought of that.
