This is gonna sound a bit weird, but...

...do topics disappear after a while?

Because...topics seem to disappear after a while.

The thing is, with my weird memory, it's fully possible that these topics I can't find never actually existed in the first place.

I just want to clear up this issue for myself, thanks.

Topics don't disappear on their own as far as I know, but the people who start them can delete them.

This isn't the place to be posting something like this.

As Takerial said, this is not the place for this thread. If anything, it would probably belong in the general forum thread.

And also mentioned, if a thread 'disappears', most likely it is due to either Hawk deleting them (which AFAIK, he has never done. [edit]Come to think of it, since a few of his own threads disappeared, it was probably him that did it), or it was deleted by the topic starter. Which, has happened a number of times.

What are your settings for the forums' age cutoff? You need to set them so they show you everything that has ever been posted.

And... that too. If a thread is too old, it might 'disappear' due to age. That is easily rectified though as GH mentioned.

I think that's only something that the admin can fiddle around with.

Actually, this was brought up a long, long, long time ago. Hawk actually had that feature that cleaned older topics, but Israfel wondered about it and asked him to turn it off. Hence, only topics that get deleted manually should disappear.

Indeedy. I delete my own topics when I post the finished result somewhere. I've deleted a few other topics started by others, both on request and because the topics annoyed the crap out of me and/or were posted in the wrong place. :)

And a few of the original posters have also deleted their own topics after a while.
