Today is my 10-year TFF anniversary

It wasn't all at once. He was fairly active back in '06, even if he wasn't updating fics. He didn't start going dark for long periods of time until around '08 when he started being more selective about registrations. His appearances then became very sporadic at that point and less frequent. The troubles in the forum didn't come until later and I was a barely active member by that point and never had much direct interaction with Hawke so I don't know what was going on then.

I had my own troubles around the time of the move, so I was never really clear about what was going on beyond the fact the Hawk had closed registrations.

Hawk closed registrations, the forum was dying, and people like nicknumbers were doing stupid shit.

The inmates started running the asylum, then. Makes sense.

We were never all that big on forum moderation in the first place. Part of what made TFF successful and fun was the fact that Hawk didn't micromanage the forum. If someone was being an ass to the point everyone hated them, we'd all call them out. They'd either stop or they would get the banhammer dropped on them, like shinjithegoodsharer did.

Who was nicknumbers?

Nicknumbers was some n00b rando who decided to try and steal admin rights to the forum by going to invisionfree admins and being like "Hey this forum I'm part of no longer has an admin, which is against your ToS. Instead of deleting it, you should make me admin."

Yes. Someone actually thought this was a good idea.

I think the only thing I've seen in TFF history that was more retarded was the shit DKG tried to pull.

Who was DKG and what did he try to pull?

Dark Knight Gafgar. He was Yorik. Tried to get the board shut down by trying to doxx and target admins.

I vaguely remember that name. It rings a bell, at least. I think he posted a lot on the Naruto forums, but that doesn't mean much since most of us did.

Why was he trying to get the board shut down? From what I remember back in the day, we all loved this place. We basically had our own culture here, independent of everywhere else. Hell, even our brief tiff with the Dark Lord Potter Forums ended with us and them becoming less toxic.

Shiro could tell you more again, but it during the process from moving to nTFF in 2013 and admin elections.

So basically a power grab while everything was disorganized. Sheesh. Glad I missed all that.

Huh, that's pretty cool. Lots of old-timers in here. Not that there's any really young'uns, just relatively younger. Probably the biggest burst of new activity we had was with daniel_gudman's FRO fic. This forum needs a lethal dose of new blood!

The question is, how to get them here.

Write the next big thing, and have the main feedback topic on TFF.

Good grief, I completely forgot about him. Like, not even a memory or vague impression, for years. Didn't he go and make a knock-off TFF centered on himself at some point, or was that someone else?

Shinjis Sharing Inc... Forum... It was not technically all about him, as othhers could post too, though it was mainly about his stuff...

He also has/had accounts at MediaMiner.ORG and FanFiction.NET...

He wrote some interesting ideas.... but seemed to rarely develop them fully and instaed either rushed it or summarized the plot. I remember a few interesting ones.

LMFAO!

There was a number of knock-offs. Most were badly organized and never lasted more than a few months. The only one I joined was the Temple of the Toad Sage. Unfortunately, real life lead me to not have internet access, so I quit posting there the same time I quit regularly posting here and by the time I came back, it was gone too.

I mostly read his fics for the smut. He did have some interesting ideas, but he was far from being most anyone's favorite author.
