UC Gundam Information

I like the fact that the most bishounen looking characters are the enemy and that the main character is a veteran and a frakking adult for once.

I wouldn't say that. While rare...there have been Gundam main characters over the age of 20.

Off the top of my head, there's Shiro Amada of the 08th MS Team. He was in his mid-twenties if I'm not mistaken.

That said, most if not all of the Gundam protaganists from series not from the Universal Century have been teenagers.

In the UC anime/movie line six of the series had teenage protagonists while four had adults with Char's Counterattack (which I only add because by this point Amuro is an adult even though his popularity comes from the first series) and the other three are the 08th MS Team, 0083 Stardust Memory, and MS IGLOO.

Then we get into the alternate universes with Gundam Wing (teenage), Gundam Wing Endless Waltz (teenage), Gundam Seed (teenage), Gundam Seed Destiny (teenage), Gundam Seed Stargazer (not teenage), Superior Defender Gundam Force (teenage), Fighter G Gundam (not teenage). Combining all of that with the manga, books, games et al and its easy to see why an older protagonist is something of a novelty, particularly when every other non-teenage character was in his twenties.

Besides that I'm a bit conflicted. On the one hand I consider UC Gundam to be the best of the 'verses, on the other I wish they would decide to focus on another 'verse to be expanded instead.

Personally, my problem with UC is that Sunrise refuses to go beyond the early days of 0079-0088. New series? OYW. New OVA? OYW. They always rehash the RX-78 and say lol new model made in blah blah blah. If they would focus on eras like F91 or Victory, then I would have no problems with it.

But isn't UC their core & one of their most realistic series'? Also, they have created like four alternative universes in a row or so, so I suppose it is time fore a break/return to their starting point. Anyways, F91 & Victory were -within- UC, so they are the same as this new one; everything is different except for the technology & history.

Anyways, how popular were those two? And how open was the plot to more ideas? The Gundam is now the size of a Heavy Gear? A neo-neo-neo-Zeon group? A neo-Titans? More pirates or something? Another test mobiles suit? A day in the life of a team? In any case, it would not make a difference which period it takes place, since the people from the old series' will not show up. Regular UC is the most recognizable.

Speaking of UC Gundam series...

Word on the net is there's going to be a movie (or a series of movies ala Kara no Kyoukai) based on the Gundam Unicorn light novel series released next year. Supposedly it's to commemorate Gundam's 30th anniversary.

Any official word on that?

As far as I know, it turned out to be a massive troll of epic proportions on 4chan.
