Remember that fic I talked about in the DA thread? The one where Takato was going to get a different partner then Guilmon and I'd write a series of Oneshots?

Yeah.

First up:

Bees.

My God.

It's small and there's not much content yet; honestly, it basically just that scene from the first episode with some minor changes. But I wanted to put this out here, so here you go.
___________________________________________________________________

Unlocked Doors
Royal Hive

Takato crouched in the hallway, scribbling on his notepad.

It wasnÆt lost to him that this was one of the reasons heÆd been put in the hallway before and that his teacher wouldnÆt be happy if she found him doing it when he was supposed to be getting punished for being late. It also wasnÆt lost on him that his teacher had ears like a bat; Takato would swear that she could probably hear him scribbling from inside the classroom.

Thus, it seemed inevitable that heÆd get caught sooner or later and when he was, Asagi-sensei would almost surely be upset with him.

Again.

And then heÆd be punished.

Again.

So why was he doing it anyway?

Well, in TakatoÆs mind, it seemed inevitable that heÆd get in trouble; he could admit his own faults and he knew that he was pretty much perpetually flighty. So heÆd eventually zone out in class, or slip up and say the wrong thing, or be late like he had been, and then Asagi-sensei would get upset. So if he was going to get in trouble, it might as well be for drawing.

Besides, it was a nervous habit. Some people tap their foot, some people smoke cigarettes, but Takato drew when something unnerved him.

Or when something bad happened.

Or when he didnÆt want to do his homework.

Okay, honestly, he was just procrastinating most of the time, but this time he had a reason to be disturbed.

He didnÆt understand it himself, butà

This morning, when heÆd been playing cards with Hirokazu, heÆd knocked over the box he used to hold his cards on accident. At first, heÆd just been annoyed at his own clumsiness, but he quickly became confused when heÆd noticed that there was a card he didnÆt recognize mixed in amongst the fallen cards.

A blue card.

Without thinking, heÆd swept it through his card reader.

And thatÆs where things became strange.

Electricity had cackled over the surface of the device, forcing him to let go of it and cover his face. Smoke began to leak from the card port as strange numbers and words scrolled across the screen.

He still wondered what had happened. Had he broken it?

He hoped not; if he had, heÆd have a hell of a time trying to explain how heÆd done so to his parents, much less convince them to buy him a new one.

He hadnÆt had time to worry about it, though, as the bell began to ring a moment later, forcing him to scramble off and hope that the problem was gone by the time he got back.

HeÆd still been late, though.

So he drew his worries away.

Okay, fine, he could also just be bored with standing in the hall.

ItÆs not like it really mattered one way or another, right?

ôHis color isàyellow.ö Takato murmured, taking out a colored pencil and filling in the completed sketch. ôAndàö

Takato glanced through the colors heÆd brought today.

ôGolden brown. HeÆs like Tentomon and Wormmon put together but heÆs stronger than either! His ultimate attack is-ö

ôIs that a monster?ö A voice asked.

Takato replied without thinking.

ôWhat are you saying? ItÆs a Digimon!ö

And then his brain caught up with him and his heart jumped into his throat.

ôTakatoàö Asagi-sensei said, looking down at her crouching student. ôI knew you werenÆt really reflecting on your actions.ö

Takato winced as he leapt to his feet.

ôIÆm sorry! Please forgive me!ö

Not enough content! We must have MOAR!!

Seriously though, it'll take out a lot of your time if you focus on the development of Takato's partners from beginning to end. Maybe you can focus on which points in the timeline where they'll make bigger changes?

That's what I intend to do. Besides this scene, you'll see the birth, the hatching, a few important fight and character development scenes, and the evolutions to Adult, Perfect, and Ultimate.

Takato sighed as he looked out the window.

He was stuck inside, writing an apology to his teacher while everyone else was playing outside.

He looked at what he had written so far.

It wasnÆt much, he noted, wincing.

Honestly, he should get it over and done with.

And he would!

Later. Definitely later.

For nowà

He set his notepad down on his desk and smiled down at it. He knew that if anyone else saw it, they would just consider it childish, but he was very proud of it. Granted, his drawing skills could use some work and he had basically written whatever came to mind, butà

He was proud of it anyway. HeÆd done more than just draw; that was just on the first few pages. In the rest of the notepad, heÆd filled out everything he could think of about his partner. HeÆd pretended he was creating a real Digimon and had listed every detail about it. HeÆd listed its size, details about its shape and structure, height, width, its personality, and tons of details about its attacks. HeÆd even written a profile for it, coming up with a way for it to fit into the Digital World.

ôHis name is Funbeemon. An Insect type Virus.ö

Suddenly, a dog like puppet covered his field of vision and nearly scared out of his chair.

XxXXxX

It didnÆt escape TakatoÆs notice that something weird was going on.

First it had gone from a beautiful, clear day to a shadowed, stormy sky with absolutely no warning.

Then he had arrived at the playground to find lightning arcing across the ground.

As he rushed towards the dinosaur that he and his friends always played in, the clock on it had gone insane, both hands spinning quickly.

And when he finally reached the location of his cards, his box had been literally glowing.

It didnÆt take a genius to figure out something weird was going on.

However, it took a child to then pick the box up and shake it anyway.

The box slipped open as he shook it, revealing the scattered mass of disorganized cards within. But it wasnÆt his cards that Takato was looking at for once.

Instead his eyes were fixed on the glowing form of his card reader.

He watched as the machine began to quickly change shape, shifting into a small red and white device. It seemed as though it could easily fit in his hand and Takato reached for it without thinking. At the last moment, he realized what he was doing and hesitated for an instant, before curiosity got the best of him.

He picked it up.

Nothing happened.

Feeling a bit disappointed, he examined it. He turned it with his hands, looking at it from any angle. He didnÆt learn anything useful by doing so, however.

ôMy card reader transformedà?ö

He pressed one of the buttons and the screen changed.

It still didnÆt tell him anything useful, though.

ôNo data? Is this thing broken?ö

XxXXxX

The moment he got home he rushed up to his room. He knelt on the floor and poured out the contents of his card box. He immediately began to search through the assorted cards.

ôItÆs not here? Where did that blue card go?ö

He looked at the strange thing his card reader had become. He was sure; it had to be that blue card. It had started acting strangely after heÆd slashed it and nothing else had happened to it.

But why did slashing a card cause his machine to change shape?

What had it turned into, anyway?

ôMaybe this isàa Digivice?ö Takato, flighty as always, immediately jumped to the strangest possible conclusion. ôIn that caseàö

He riffled through his pockets and withdrew his notepad. He promptly tried to swipe the pieces of paper through the card reader portion of the device.

Takato paused suddenly.

ôItÆs stuck.ö He realized.

ôTakato! ItÆs time for supper!ö

ôAh! IÆll be down in just a minute, mom!ö

He set down the device, notepad still stuck within it, and began to walk away.

He had reached the door before he noticed.

The devices blue screen turned red and TakatoÆs attention was drawn by the sound of paper tearing. It ripped off the first page of the notepad, the one featuring the drawing, and slid it through the scanner by itself. Then came the next page, FunbeemonÆs profile. Then the information about its body, and about his attacks, and his Digital Core. It continued to tear out pages one after another, until Takato was left with a small pile of torn pages scattered around his desk.

Takato was beside his desk a moment later. He picked up the device û no, the Digivice û and looked at the screen again.

Something had changed.

On the screen, a stripped yellow egg pulsated.

ôA Digitama.ö He breathed.

I was going to update either Seductive Shadows or Tamers Unlimited next, but, well, I got hit by two awesome ideas for the next two chapters of this.

So I'll probably be working on this on for awhile.

First things first, though; I have to finish this chapter. I'll try to write quickly.

Takato panted as he leaned over the railing.

His hair was even messier then usually, dirt was smeared over his face and cloths, and heÆd developed a fear of being stuck in confined spaces with rats through direct experience, but he didnÆt care at all.

He could hear it.

The buzzing.

He couldnÆt see anything, anymore. At first, he could see everything, though there hadnÆt been much to see. There had been this strange hole in the groundà

But as he approached, the hole had exploded. In its wake, there was a strange fog that had covered the area, shrouding everything from view.

But he could hear it, so he knew it was there.

And that was enough to make him move deeper into the mist.

The noise grew as he approached, but Takato could not determine if that was because he was getting closer or if the noise was increasing in response to his approach.

And then, suddenly, he entered an area that was completely clear. It was like a curtain parted before his eyes. The mist faded within a small area and in its place he sawà

ôIs itàreallyà?ö He wondered, hardly believing his eyes. ôCould that really beà?ö

The small creature didnÆt seem to notice him. Instead, he twitched his antenna slightly, seemingly trying to get a feel for his surroundings. After a moment, its antenna shook, apparently not used to whatever it sensed. Then, it began to slowly move its four legs and it marveled at them, as if amazed by the simple fact that he had legs. It used one of its arms to touch the other, before it began to move its wings. They flapped slowly at first, but quickly began to pick up speed until they were nothing but a blur to TakatoÆs eyes.

The buzzing sound grew louder and louder and thenà

Funbeemon took to the air.

He hovered in place then, still not acknowledging Takato. He either hadnÆt noticed yet or was choosing to ignore him.

Takato didnÆt mind. He was more than content to simply watch Funbeemon.

ôIt really isàit really is youàFunbeemon!ö He whispered to himself excitedly.

He began to slowly approach when a loud squeaking attracted the DigimonÆs attention. Two rats were making noise at the side of the room. FunbeemonÆs antenna promptly flashed red and the buzzing became angry. TakatoÆs Digivice began to beep in his hand.

The rats took no note of either sound.

Takato continued his approach.

ôIÆm the one who created you-ö Takato began, but before he could continue, Funbeemon shifted in midair, pointed his stinger in the ratsÆ direction, and quickly fired two serrated stingers.

Gear Stinger, Takato remembered as the rats were stapled to the wall.

It had seemed much less terrifying when it wasnÆt real, he noted, stumbling back as the rats gave their dying squeaks.

FunbeemonÆs antenna began to twitch again before the Digimon turned to the frightened boy.

Takato took another step back.

ôD-donÆtàö He pleaded. ôFunbeemon, donÆt!ö

FunbeemonÆs antenna flickered red again, but stopped flashing in response to the replying sound of TakatoÆs Digivice. His angry buzzing promptly halted as well.

Funbeemon began to move towards Takato.

Takato covered his head with his arms, as if that would fend off a Digimon, fully expecting this to be the end.

So he was surprised when Funbeemon brushed his head against his arms gently.

Slowly, Takato moved his arms away, looking into the face of the newly created Digimon.

Funbeemon tilted his head questioningly.

ôAhàahà?ö Takato said, eyes widening before a smile stretched across his face. ôYou know who I am, right? You have to! Since IÆm the one who created you! RightàFunbeemon?ö

Takato lifted his hands, as if to touch the DigimonÆs face.

Funbeemon moved into his touch.

ôI wonder if there are any good placesà?ö Takato wondered, walking through the park.

ôWhat is it, Takato?ö Funbeemon asked in a cheerful, childish voice as it flew along behind him.

ôLike I said, somewhere youÆll be safe when youÆre alone.ö He replied.

ôThe Hive!ö Funbeemon immediately supplied. ôThe Hive!ö

Takato, his creator, knew exactly what he was talking about.

But he shook his head.

ôThe Royal Base doesnÆt exist.ö He said, before wincing at his partnerÆs expression. ôYet, I mean.ö

He laid a hand on FunbeemonÆs head.

ôYouÆre the first of your kind. BecauseàI created you.ö

ôIÆmàalone?ö Funbeemon asked.

Takato winced again, feeling heÆd made things worse.

He quickly shook his head.

ôYouÆre not alone!ö He protested. ôYouÆre never alone! Becauseàyou and I areàpartners, right?ö

Funbeemon immediately brightened.

ôRight!ö

ôNow come on. I know this place is usually empty.ö Takato said as they ventured deeper into the park. ôButàhmàö

FunbeemonÆs antenna twitched and it began to buzz angrily.

Takato didnÆt even have time to wonder what was going on before a yellow blur came out of nowhere and struck his partner.

Funbeemon slammed into the fence behind him.

ôFunbeemon!ö Takato cried.

ôOut of the way, Tamer.ö A female voice said coldly. ôThis is a Digimon battle.ö

Funbeemon lifted himself back up and took to the air, his angry buzzing increasing as his antenna flashed red. TakatoÆs Digimon beeped in reply, as it always did in response to the 88 Call.

But Takato had eyes only for the girl.

ôYou areàthe girl fromàö

If the girl cared about what he was going to say, she didnÆt show it.

ôRenamon wants to fight.ö She said. ôMove.ö

Funbeemon glared at Renamon and the girl and Takato suddenly remembered that his partner had just been kicked into a fence.

ôAre you okay, Funbeemon?ö Takato asked worriedly.

The girl tilted her head, as if she found the display curious.

ôAre you even a Tamer?ö She wondered.

Takato did a double take, startled by the seemingly random question.

ôIàö He looked at his partner and his resolve hardened, one hand going to the goggles that heÆd worn to prove something to his partner. ôI amàa Tamer!ö

ôReally?ö The girl said, bored. ôThen letÆs finish this quickly. Other people could see us fight, since there isnÆt a Digital Field.ö

ôFight? Why do you want to fight us? WeàI donÆt even know you! Funbeemon couldnÆt have done anything wrong, either; he was just born!ö

The girl finally showed a bit of interest.

ôJust born? He looks like that even though heÆs a Baby?ö

ôAhàö Takato said, looking at his partner before shaking his head. ôNo. Funbeemon is a Child. Thatàis what I imagined.ö

ôImaginedà?ö She wondered, before shaking her head as well. ôWhatever. Renamon!ö

Ruki moved off to the side as Renamon slowly approached, startling Takato.

ôHey, stop it!ö He said, gesturing frantically.

The girl glared at him in annoyance.

ôEnough nonsense. YouÆre a Tamer, arenÆt you? DonÆt you know why Digimon exist?ö

ôWhat?ö Takato asked, not understanding the question.

Renamon leapt into the air before the girl could reply.

ôKoyosetsu!ö She said, creating energy leaves as she spread her arms.

Takato widened his eyes.

ôRun, Funbeemon!ö

As the leaves fell like rain, Funbeemon blurred. He was like a fly or, well, a bee. It wasnÆt that he was fast, though he was, but he seemed to change direction at random and for no apparent reason. Takato felt that if he blinked, heÆd lose sight of his partner completely.

But though it seemed meaningless and random, the truth behind his movements could not be denied.

Not a single leaf hit him.

As Renamon began to fall, Funbeemon halted suddenly; above all the fallen leaves, he hovered at the same level as Renamon. He shifted his body, pointing his serrated stinger at her.

ôGear Stinger!ö

Last time Takato had seen it, Funbeemon had fired it only twice, for that was all heÆd needed. Each shot had landed with pinpoint accuracy; two shots, two dead rats.

This time, however, he fired more than two shots.

A lot more.

Like a machine gun, Funbeemon fired stinger after stinger; dozens of tiny projectiles flew through the air at Renamon.

For a minute, Takato thought it was over.

And then, Renamon crushed that thought.

ôKosengeki!ö She said, just before the first stinger reached her.

And then, Takato lost sight of her. She became a blur of yellow fur and dark claws to his eyes. And when she reached the ground and stoppedà

Each and every stinger hit the ground around her.

ôYouÆre fast.ö She granted. ôBut your offensive power is pathetic.ö

Takato was speechless at that display, but Funbeemon simply began to buzz even louder. He responded by flying higher into the air, using his ability to fly to his advantage.

The girl simply laughed and drew something from her belt.

ôA Digimon Cardà?ö Takato uttered, confused.

ôWhite Wings, activate.ö She said, slashing a card through her Digivice and then another. ôHigh Speed Plugin B, activate.ö

Renamon gained a pair of wings, then, lifting into their air.

ôAnd if I can keep up with you, then youÆre no threat at all.ö She continued.

TakatoÆs eyes widened in fear for his partner; he knew what she said was true.

ôFunbeemon, run!ö He pleaded.

ôLike weÆll let you get away.ö The girl dismissed.

Renamon blurred, ascending amazingly fast until she was within armÆs reach of Funbeemon. The smaller Digimon tried to attack her before she could hit him, firing stingers at her from close range, butà

Renamon caught each one with her bare hands and threw them towards the ground.

ôTouhakken!ö She said, her body glowing with blue flames as she punched Funbeemon.

The Insect Type Digimon sailed down to the ground, crashing into it painfully.

ôWinner, Renamon.ö The girl said smugly.

Takato rushed to his partnerÆs side.

ôFunbeemon! Oh God, Funbeemon, are you okay!ö

His partner opened his eyes and looked at him. He buzzed once, weakly.

ôIÆm sorry, Takato.ö He said.

ôEnd this Renamon!ö The girl said.

Renamon hesitated in the air at the sight before her.

Takato looked close to tears.

ôWhat are you apologizing for, Funbeemon? You didnÆt do anything wrong. ItÆs my faultàIÆm sorry you got stuck with such a pathetic Tamer. Butàplease, Funbeemon, please be okay. LetÆs go. W-we still have to work on the Royal Base, right?ö

ôSorryàö Funbeemon repeated.

ôRenamon, I wonÆt forgive you if you lose!ö The girl cried.

Renamon closed her eyes.

Sorry, she thought to the pair below her as she began to descend quickly. IÆll make this quick.

ôStop!ö A new voice interrupted, halting Renamon.

Takato turned his head.

ôYouÆreàö

It was the boy from earlier; the one with the Terriermon.

Said Terriermon quickly made its way down the hillside.

ôAnother Digimon?ö The girl wondered. ôI didnÆt know there were so many Digimon here.ö

Terriermon stopped in front of Renamon, looking up at her curiously.

ôYouÆre pretty strong, huh? How many Digimon have you fought? Can you evolve yet?ö

Renamon was aware Terriermon had no way of knowing of her problems with evolution.

She felt insulted anyway.

ôTerriermon, why ask such questions?ö Jenrya asked, making his way to TakatoÆs side. ôHere.ö

He handed Takato a card.

W Holy Healing.

Takato quickly swept the card through his Digivice as heÆd seen the girl do earlier. Immediately, Funbeemon was surrounded by a golden light.

ôThank you.ö He said to Jenrya.

The other boy nodded in reply.

ôNo reason.ö Terriermon replied to his partnerÆs question. ôMomentai.ö

Jenrya ignored him with well trained easy and looked instead at the girl.

ôWhy did you attack someone who doesnÆt want to fight?ö He asked.

ôWhat are you saying? ItÆs because theyÆre Digimon; doesnÆt that go without saying?ö

ôI canÆt understand you at all.ö He said after a moment of silence. ôWhat makes you think these guys are tools for battle?ö

The girl looked at his disbelievingly, but she knew when she was outnumbered.

She shook her head and turned away.

ôRenamon, weÆre leaving.ö

XxXXxX

ôIs this place okay, Funbeemon?ö He wondered, sitting in theà

What was this place, anyway?

HeÆd found an empty structure in park and he was pretty sure nobody would find Funbeemon here unless they were specifically looking for him, but he had no idea why this thing was here. The steps up to it looked like nobody had come around here in a long time, butà

Well, it probably didnÆt matter.

Despite being badly beaten earlier, Funbeemon nodded happily, moving to and fro. He had been flying around outside whatever this thing was, moving from plant to plant.

Takato didnÆt understand how he was doing what he was doing, but he at least knew what he was doing. He was somehow converting the plants into data and then bring that data along with him. Takato knew heÆd use this data to slowly construct the Royal Base; thatÆs what heÆd imagined Funbeemon would do.

ôIs this going to be our Royal Base, Funbeemon?ö He wondered.

Funbeemon nodded again.

Takato laid a hand on his partners head and smiled.

You know, it would be really awesome if Takato had accidentally created the Royal Base in the Digital World by slashing his papers. Just imagine, Takato goes into the Digital World, and suddenly there's like thousands of Funbeemon waiting for him.

Also, I can't wait for the Lucemon chapter... just for Ruki and Renamon's reactions if nothing else.

I think that Takato accidentally creating or is that recreating Lilithmon would be lol-worthy. Chibi-Lilithmon to be precise, whose Takato's age. ^_^;;;;

I wonder if in that chapter will Lucemon have existed before or will he be another of Takato's creations? The alternative reactions have great potential for hilarity.

Lucemon could manipulate Takato into 'creating' him:

Lucemon (speaking as a voice in Takato's head): "Yesss Takato, draw me. Good, n- No wait! You're getting the hair wrong! Erase it! Start over!"

I want to write the Millenniummon and D-Reaper chapters first.

ôWhat does it mean to evolve?ö Takato wondered, walking through the streets with Jenrya.

ôGood question. Honestly, I donÆt know myself.ö Jenrya admitted.

Evolution had been on TakatoÆs mind all day for a very simple reason.

Yesterday, Terriermon had evolved. More specifically, Terriermon had evolved in a fight against Renamon, something Takato had mixed feelings about.

On one hand, Renamon had been attacking Funbeemon again and if Terriermon hadnÆt interfered again, it probably would have ended the same way as last time. As it was, Funbeemon managed to get off mostly unharmed thanks to a deck he had hastily put together.

But on the other hand, Galgomon had lost control of himself. HeÆd gone on a rampage, blown up a number of cars, and nearly killed that girl. If Funbeemon hadnÆt started stinging Galgomon, sheÆd probably be dead.

Instead, the minor annoyance of FunbeemonÆs attack had brought him back to rationality.

Would that happen to Funbeemon if he evolved?

Takato wasnÆt sure how to feel. He wanted Funbeemon to evolve, because his partner kept getting hurt. Jenrya had been there to save him twice, but what ifànext timeà

Would Funbeemon die?

More than anything, he didnÆt want that to happen to his friend.

But when he evolved, would he still be his friend?

Suddenly, Terriermon lifted his ears into the air, drawing Takato out of his thoughts.

ôSomethingÆs coming.ö Terriermon said.

ôComing?ö Jenrya asked. ôIt canÆt beàanother Digimon?ö

Takato noticed it first.

ôOver there!ö He said, point to the sky. It looked like a cloud, but Takato had never seen a cloud descend to earth before.

Jenrya looked around at all the people nearby.

ôWeÆve gotta get out of here!ö He said, turning in the opposite direction and running.

ôWait for me!ö Takato said, following while reaching for his Digivice.

ô88 Call!ö He shouted, lifting his Digivice to his mouth.

The screen of his Digivice began flashing read. Next to him, JenryaÆs Digivice began beeping.

ôFunbeemonÆs coming.ö He explained as Jenrya and his partner gave him strange looks.

ôCan the Digivice be used to call for help?ö Jenrya wondered, looking at his own. On the screen, Takato appeared next to him as a flashing red dot next to his own green dot.

ôI think itÆs only fine.ö Takato said, shaking his head. ô88 Call is one of FunbeemonÆs techniques.ö

ôWhatÆs it do?ö Terriermon asked.

Takato looked at him strangely.

ôIt calls allies for help.ö Takato stated the obvious.

ôàDudeàsuch a lame technique.ö Terriermon said, shaking his head.

Takato glared at the Dog Digimon.

ôThe idea was that there would be a lot of Funbeemon and if one gave the 88 Call youÆd have to deal with them all.ö

ôI thought you said there was only one Funbeemon.ö Jenrya said curiously.

Takato blushed.

ôThere is, but that wasnÆt the idea when I was creating him.ö

Jenrya looked at him strangely again.

XxXXxX

Takato was panting as they entered the construction site.

ôWhyÆs this thing after us!?ö He demanded of nobody in particular.

His Digivice began to beep again, followed by a familiar buzzing.

ôFunbeemon! There you are-ö

The Digimon Realized in a flash of light, cutting him off.

Takato lifted his goggles, which heÆd pulled over his eyes as the Digital Field overtook them.

ôThatà!ö

ôGorimon.ö Jenrya said grimly. ôAn Adult Beast Man Digimon.

ôOh, itÆs just you, Gorimon.ö Terriermon said, amused.

He suddenly jumped to the side as Gorimon threw a metal beam at him.

Jenrya ran forward and for a moment Takato thought heÆd lost his mind.

Then he started shouting at the Gorilla and Takato became sure of it.

ôStop it, Gorimon!ö He said. ôDonÆt you remember me?ö

ôYes, Jen.ö Terriermon said. ôIn fact, I think thatÆs the point.ö

Jenrya ignored him.

ôDonÆt attack Terriermon! WeÆre not going to fight you anymore!ö

ôWhat?ö Takato wondered. ôWhat happened? Do you know this guy?ö

Gorimon started beating his chest.

Takato may have wanted to know the story behind this, but Funbeemon honestly didnÆt care. The 88 Call had gone out; that was all he needed to know.

The small stingers had limited effect though.

Gorimon leapt down to the ground, forcing Takato and Jenrya to the upper levels or else risk getting hurt. Terriermon stopped on the stairs, looking at his new friend fighting against his old enemy.

ôMe, too.ö He decided.

ôNo!ö Jenrya immediately protested.

Terriermon looked at his Tamer.

ôWhy not? GorimonÆs here for us and heÆs ready to go!ö

ôDo you want to fight that much!ö Jenrya said, beginning to get annoyed.

Takato looked on, having no idea what was happening.

But then, he didnÆt really have time to worry about it; Funbeemon was fighting an Adult level Digimon.

On the Brightside, Gorimon couldnÆt fly, so Funbeemon was able to avoid his opponentÆs attacks by flying above him and raining down stingers.

On the downside, the stingers didnÆt seem to be doing anything.

And Gorimon was lifting the cannon he called an arm, aiming it at his partner.

ôCareful!ö Terriermon shouted, leaping to his friends rescue and ignoring his partnerÆs complaints.

He hit Gorimon throwing him off balance just enough to make him miss his target.

Something Takato was really grateful for when he saw what it did to the side of the building when it hit that instead.

ôBlazing Fire!ö Terriermon shouted as he landed on the ground, spitting blasts of superheated air into GorimonÆs eyes.

ôStop it, Terriermon!ö

This time, it was TerriermonÆs turn to get annoyed.

ôWerenÆt you the one who wanted me to fight in the past?ö

æIs this really the time for this!?Æ Takato wondered.

Jenrya seemed to be struck by his partnerÆs comments, but Takato was more concerned with his own partner, because Gorimon seemed to be recovering.

He had to do something, or his partnerà!

Takato took a deep breath. He could handle this. He just had to stay calm and think smart.

He looked at the cards in his hand.

First things first. He couldnÆt let Funbeemon be hurt. ThenàDefense Plug-in C?

No, that wouldnÆt keep Funbeemon from getting hurt; it just meant heÆd be hurt less. Better than nothing, granted, butà

If he doesnÆt get hit, he canÆt get hurt.

ôHigh-Speed Plug-In B!ö Takato said, swiping the card.

The words, reminders of the past, hit Jenrya like a physical blow.

Funbeemon, already a blur, quickened to the point that he seemed to disappear at times, only to come back into view a moment later.

ôNextàBoost Chip!ö Takato said.

ôGear Stinger!ö Funbeemon said, going on the attack. This time, the attack seemed to have an effect and Gorimon stumbled back, the tiny blades sticking out of his flesh.

But then he brushed them off angrily.

TheyÆd hurt him, but not really injured him, Takato thought. Funbeemon needed something strongeràSomething likeà

ôAurvandilÆs Arrow!ö

FunbeemonÆs stinger was replaced by the arrow in question in an instant, which he immediately fired.

Gorimon dodged to the side, but the arrow still went straight through his shoulder.

Jenrya winced as if heÆd been the one hit. Those cardsàThey were the cards heÆd used on Terriermon when theyÆd first fought Gorimon. High-Speed, Boost Chip, AurvandilÆs Arrow, and thenà

ôAlright!ö Takato said. ôOne more! Flax Seeds!ö

HeÆd boosted offense, heÆd boosted speed, and this time he boosted his partnerÆs stamina.

And then he was blinded by a flash of light.

ôFunbeemon, shinka!ö

You're a great writer, so I have a strong feeling you won't just repeat Galgomon's tale, but I cannot say I enjoy all this "repetition of Jenrya's past" thing.

Hmm, will Waspmon go berserk like Galgomon? Since Takato's following Jenrya's pattern and all.

Also, Millennium as Takato's partner? How will that work with Ryo around?

And D-Reaper :huh!:
