Upcoming movie

Variety claims that taking a tax write-down on it would've recouped more of its costs than just spending more money to turn it into a full-fledged theatrical release.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that test audiences only scored it a 60+, the same as Shazam 2, and the higher-ups didn't think a $90 million was worth it for a movie that was going to be released solely on a streaming service.
Which is kinda BS when you think about it, given the fact that the Flash movie is still on track for release. Ezra Miller has pretty much wrecked his career at this point with all the shit he's done, and WB still wants to not only release it, but do so with the original star? I'm honestly surprised they don't reshoot with a new main actor. It's not like they actually care about keeping it canon to the Snyder'verse.

Ezra Miller has been using identity politics as a shield against being cancelled for the various things that Miller's done, and has been depressingly successful at this for a while, though it seems like a lot of people are fed up with Miller, even if WB so far isn't. Not sure what it will take for that to change, since Miller has already done a bunch of things that individually would put even a regular celebrity in jail.

Yeah, it's just a shitty situation all around. Most studios would have dropped a celebrity after the first major offense, or maybe the third, tops. You have to wonder, when will WB decide that trying to be inclusive and supportive is no longer as important as their image?

Did the person who cut Halle Berry's Catwoman produce that trailer?

Super Mario Bros. movie (actual trailer 2:27 in)

Doesn't the trailer exist as a standalone? It's this, right? (From the official Youtube page for Illumination, which is the animation studio in charge.)

I had went looking for one, but didn't find one. Guess I just needed to look harder.

Ford is 80. Isn't this elder abuse at this point? Shades of Robert de Niro in The Irishman.

Aliens Abducted My Parents and Now I Feel Kinda Left Out. This reads a LOT like a light novel title instead of the name of an independent movie. :p

Hmm. This franchise just keeps rolling along. This is supposed to take place after RE6 and the Vendetta film, which is a surprise, because I thought the RE-makes (and the Infinite Darkness Netflix mini-series) finessed that timeline out of existence.

The final trailer for the Mario movie. Damn. Now I want to actually watch it.

Star Wars Celebration 2023 recap

We're getting 3 new films: one set a generation after The Last Jedi, one set during the First Jedi era, and one to wrap up the Mandalorian timeline.

Edit: Also, new official timeline revealed:

This is already out, so it no longer counts as "upcoming." Still, I feel greatly obliged to post about SAINT SEIYA. Er, wait, that's not what the live-action version is called. Anyway, now showing in US theaters.

Also, because the previous trailer for this was shown, here's a new one for Oppenheimer:

I'm still not entirely convinced this is a real thing, and not just an elaborate trailer.

Especially since this is being produced by

*checks credits*

WB, the studio that's trying to kill literally anything and everything it's been making?!

Zetas

Lurking upon the deep
I knew this was in the works, but i just really don't know how to feel.

So far it looks better than the Slender Man film. Which doesn't really mean anything, but still.

I dunno. The trailer looks decently good, but having an origin story for a character who's supposed to be clad in mystique is kind of suspect.
