It was the same dream... though the times that she had it were usually few and far between, it always went the same way.
Laughter, embarrassment... and a promise. It has been so long... and the years have been so painful, but she walked on... because that man always kept his promises. That's just who he was.
"Aw, c'mon! School life is fun fun, y'know? You've never experienced it before, right?"
Why was she always drawn to him? Was it because he accepted her? Was it that damn smile of his?
"Don't you worry, I'll be back when you graduate"
... she never had the nerve to graduate. Not with the way she was. She could easily pass even college exams the way she was if she bothered... but she didn't. Too many questions, too many suspicions...
"Try living in the light for a change. If you do, the time will come when your curse will be lifted."
"Eva-chan?"
'I'm still here! I've tried so hard, it hurts! Did you lie to me? Are you breaking your promise?' she wanted to cry, to scream, to shout! She wanted to kill him, beat him to a pulp, hug him... 'Why am I still cursed?!'
And then he would look at her, smiling that infuriating smile of his that made everything alright, even when it wasn't. "What makes you think you are still cursed?"
"Eva-chan?"
And then he walks away, some girl's voice ringing through her head as she shouts after him. 'I'm still here! Isn't that the curse?'
He turns, and looks like he's about to answer, but before he does...
"EVA-CHAN!"
The sudden shout jolted Evangeline A.K. McDowell from her after school nap. It jolted her so much she nearly slipped on the roof she lay on, causing a brief surge of panic to well up within her. A hand suddenly grabbed hers, and she looked up into the soulful doll eyes of her closest companion. "DAMNIT SAYO! How many times have I told you not to do that!"
Blushing in embarrassment, Aizaka Sayo slowly pulled Eva off the rooftop's slope and onto a flatter area. "Sorry Eva-chan... but the sun is going down. We should return home for dinner."
Sighing, Eva looked off towards the setting sun, her body still warm from basking in its light. Shaking her head, she sighed. "... is this what you were talking about... Nagi...?"
"Eh? was that the red-haired man's name, Eva-chan?"
Blinking, Eva slowly turned to glare at Sayo. "You looked...?"
"Eep! O.. only because Zacchan told me to, since we couldn't wake you up!" the ghost girl said before running into the growing shadows for protection. Standing there, smirking slightly, was her other roommate.
"...?"
"Grr... quite well, thank you..." she replied angrily. "And I'll thank you to not have Sayo dream walk without my permission. Can we go home now?"
With a melodramatic bow from the silent performer, Zazie glanced behind her towards the masked shadows that waited patiently. With a nod, they came together to form a swirling vortex of darkness, a familiar living room surrounded by dolls of all kinds visible at its center. "..."
"Che... why I ever allowed you to live with us is beyond me...."
"But Eva-chan, didn't you say it was because she..." A long, cold glare from Eva shut the well-meaning spirit up.
"Walk through first Sayo... I don't think I trust the two of you alone together anymore."
Pouting, the dejected girl floated through the portal, Eva following close behind.
Shaking her head, Zazie smirked slightly before walking through last, the vortex slowly closing behind her. "..."
Before the vortex closed a final "I HEARD THAT RAINYDAY!"
Just below the rooftop, sitting in the windowsill, Takahata Takamichi shook his head as he took a long drag of his cigarette, chuckling to himself as he felt the three vanish. "Nagi... if you could only see her now. She seems to be adjusting well enough... but do you think she's ready?"
An aging voice could be heard behind him, and without looking Takamichi knew that the old Headmaster was stroking his beard in that familiar fashion of his.
"This will be a test for both of them... but I would think Nagi would definitely approve, wouldn't you?"
"I just hope Negi-kun is ready..."

I blame RBF for this, as he blames everything on me. We pollute eachother's minds with more and more ideas.
What is this? Why are those three together? What's going on? Well, you can try guessing.. or you can wait til the next snippet ^^ But lets just say I'll be throwing canon out the window. Yay me!
