Akamatsuverse Walk in the Light

It was the same dream... though the times that she had it were usually few and far between, it always went the same way.

Laughter, embarrassment... and a promise. It has been so long... and the years have been so painful, but she walked on... because that man always kept his promises. That's just who he was.

"Aw, c'mon! School life is fun fun, y'know? You've never experienced it before, right?"

Why was she always drawn to him? Was it because he accepted her? Was it that damn smile of his?

"Don't you worry, I'll be back when you graduate"

... she never had the nerve to graduate. Not with the way she was. She could easily pass even college exams the way she was if she bothered... but she didn't. Too many questions, too many suspicions...

"Try living in the light for a change. If you do, the time will come when your curse will be lifted."

"Eva-chan?"

'I'm still here! I've tried so hard, it hurts! Did you lie to me? Are you breaking your promise?' she wanted to cry, to scream, to shout! She wanted to kill him, beat him to a pulp, hug him... 'Why am I still cursed?!'

And then he would look at her, smiling that infuriating smile of his that made everything alright, even when it wasn't. "What makes you think you are still cursed?"

"Eva-chan?"

And then he walks away, some girl's voice ringing through her head as she shouts after him. 'I'm still here! Isn't that the curse?'

He turns, and looks like he's about to answer, but before he does...

"EVA-CHAN!"

The sudden shout jolted Evangeline A.K. McDowell from her after school nap. It jolted her so much she nearly slipped on the roof she lay on, causing a brief surge of panic to well up within her. A hand suddenly grabbed hers, and she looked up into the soulful doll eyes of her closest companion. "DAMNIT SAYO! How many times have I told you not to do that!"

Blushing in embarrassment, Aizaka Sayo slowly pulled Eva off the rooftop's slope and onto a flatter area. "Sorry Eva-chan... but the sun is going down. We should return home for dinner."

Sighing, Eva looked off towards the setting sun, her body still warm from basking in its light. Shaking her head, she sighed. "... is this what you were talking about... Nagi...?"

"Eh? was that the red-haired man's name, Eva-chan?"

Blinking, Eva slowly turned to glare at Sayo. "You looked...?"

"Eep! O.. only because Zacchan told me to, since we couldn't wake you up!" the ghost girl said before running into the growing shadows for protection. Standing there, smirking slightly, was her other roommate.

"...?"

"Grr... quite well, thank you..." she replied angrily. "And I'll thank you to not have Sayo dream walk without my permission. Can we go home now?"

With a melodramatic bow from the silent performer, Zazie glanced behind her towards the masked shadows that waited patiently. With a nod, they came together to form a swirling vortex of darkness, a familiar living room surrounded by dolls of all kinds visible at its center. "..."

"Che... why I ever allowed you to live with us is beyond me...."

"But Eva-chan, didn't you say it was because she..." A long, cold glare from Eva shut the well-meaning spirit up.

"Walk through first Sayo... I don't think I trust the two of you alone together anymore."

Pouting, the dejected girl floated through the portal, Eva following close behind.

Shaking her head, Zazie smirked slightly before walking through last, the vortex slowly closing behind her. "..."

Before the vortex closed a final "I HEARD THAT RAINYDAY!"

Just below the rooftop, sitting in the windowsill, Takahata Takamichi shook his head as he took a long drag of his cigarette, chuckling to himself as he felt the three vanish. "Nagi... if you could only see her now. She seems to be adjusting well enough... but do you think she's ready?"

An aging voice could be heard behind him, and without looking Takamichi knew that the old Headmaster was stroking his beard in that familiar fashion of his.

"This will be a test for both of them... but I would think Nagi would definitely approve, wouldn't you?"

"I just hope Negi-kun is ready..."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I blame RBF for this, as he blames everything on me. We pollute eachother's minds with more and more ideas.
What is this? Why are those three together? What's going on? Well, you can try guessing.. or you can wait til the next snippet ^^ But lets just say I'll be throwing canon out the window. Yay me!
I'm always up for a new Negima fic. And an Eva focused one as well.... Joy :wub: She is, after all, my favorite Negima character.
So canon is going out the window huh? I can live with that. Though I'm curious about the current living arrangements for our favorite vampire.....is she still living in her little cottage, or in the dorms? I didn't see any mention of that. But I assume Zazie is living with her because of her strange powers, and Sayo because Eva decided to interact with the poor little ghost....maybe because Chachamaru wasn't made, or at least wasn't made for her?
Based on what you have so far, I assume Nagi's plan for redeeming Eva has to do with Negi, maybe having her obsession with him pass off to him or something. Regardless, I am up for Negi/Eva interaction.
I am curious on whether or not Eva's personality is similar to canons though......
All in all, I look foreword to another snippet, as Negima updates are always fun.
EDIT: Whoops. Eva is living in her little cottage. Missed the refrence to the living room with dolls. My bad.
:evil2: I finally return the favor.
But in truth I'm glad to see it up here especially after you kept me up late talking the idea out last night.
Slave to my muse- canon isn't completely out the window... but it is hanging from the window sill :lol: . I won't go into the details I know though and let windfalcon reveal what he wants to reveal.
Hum...so the three supernatural members of 2-A are apparently co-habitating. My first question would be if this is by chance or design.
If it's by chance (as in the three came together without outside interference) then there's the possibility that there is no Chachamaru. There is also the chance that during the Sakura Lane Vampire arc; the attacks and the battles might be more vicious; especially with Zazie and possibility even Sayo being Eva's Pactio partners. Also one must consider that Eva wouldn't be able to 'slip her leash' like she did without Chachamaru's help; so her actions would be completely different.
If it's by design, I see it happening because of Takamichi. I can easily see him having concern for a new student (Zazie) not fitting in, so he talks to the one person who could help her; Eva. Eva would eventually aqueous to Takamichi's request and help Zazie settle in...and if he made the request by holding her after class that could be when Sayo enters the picture (after all, she now knows that there are people involved in the supernatural so she decides to make contact). This idea could also leave open the possibility of Chachamaru being around.
If it's the first idea; then Negi is going to have a major uphill battle ahead of him. If it's the second; there is the possibility that Negi will end up rooming with them since all of them are in the know about magic.
Either way, I can't wait to see where this is going.
It's nice to see my Teaser doing it's thought provoking work. Nice.
And what's this looming on the horizon? is it...? It IS! Snippet!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Mornings for Eva always started with the smell of breakfast waking her from a dream of her past... the only kind she ever really had in her long time of living, but only recently have they been the few warm memories she's experienced. Pulling herself out of bed with a yawn and a stretch, Eva would go to the bathroom, only to find the door locked and the sound of the shower JUST starting .

"DAMNIT RAINYDAY!" Eva shouted as she banged on the door a couple of times. It was something of a routine at this point. Zazie would always wait til the last moment to warp into the bathroom to take her shower just before Eva reached it. "I swear I'm going to banish those damn shadows of yours!"

Eva was grateful for the shower of course.. since it muted out whatever reply the silent girl had.

"Ugh... why I ever took you in, I'll NEVER know..." grumbling, she would make her way downstairs for a cup of tea and breakfast while she waited for Zazie to finish.

"By now Sayo should be done..."

"Done with what, Eva-chan?" came a voice from above her. Stopping mid-step on the stairway, Eva looked up to see Sayo floating right above her, upside down and looking at her curiously.

"Sayo... why are you there, and not cooking breakfast?" Eva asked slowly, trying to make sense of the morning. She hadn't had her tea yet and already her morning routine was being horribly altered.

"Because Maru-chan is back from her upgrades! I was just about to slip into my school clothes when I saw you walking down."

"Ah...." That was the explanation. Slowly, Eva nodded and walked down the rest of the way, stopping just at the foot of the stairs this time. "Does she look.. different?"

Sayo tilted her head to one side and closed her eyes, thinking for a moment before shaking her head. "Not that I could see." Looking at Eva worriedly, the spirit floated down to look Eva eye to eye. "Are you alright Eva-chan?"

"I'm fine, Sayo... go ahead and get ready, let me know when Zazie is finished." The ghost girl nodded and smiled cutely before flying up, vanishing into the second story.

Shaking her head, Eva glanced towards the direction of the kitchen, before taking a slow breath. Putting on a nonchalant face, she walked right in, plopping down in her usual seat with a yawn. "So you're back." she said, trying to sound bored.

"Yes, master" came the familiar monotone voice of her servant. Turning to glance at Chachamaru, Eva tried to see what changes were made this time, for everytime she left, she always came back a little bit different. The gynoid was dressed in the gothic lolita maid outfit she chose for her, looking much the same as she did when she left two days ago.

"So.. what did the Daughters of Frankenstein do to you this time?"

The gynoid was silent for the moment as she placed a tray in front of Eva, bearing a western style breakfast along with a cup of Eva's favorite tea. She proceeded to place trays at three other places, before sitting down at one. "... they gave me taste receptors, Master, as well as the ability to ingest foods. I do not require it for fuel, but it may be used as a secondary source should I need it, albeit temporary."

Eva arched a brow, before shrugging. "Why would those two feel the need to do something like that? Usually Hakase wants to implant you with some sort of new weapon or something..."

"Because I asked for it Master, since you expressed a desire for all to eat at the table."

Eva blinked, then looked down at her breakfast, her hair hiding her face slightly. She didn't want the gynoid to see her embarrassed face.

"..."

Sadly, the moment was spoiled the moment Zazie Rainyday spoke. Turning to glare at the dark skinned performer, Eva growled. "I am NOT flustered Rainyday! Honestly, I was just inspecting my breakfast. Can you not read into things?"

Grumbling, Eva picked up her fork and dived into her breakfast with a gusto, as if trying to swallow down her embarrassment through her food.

"Eva-chan, you shouldn't eat so fast!" Chided Sayo as she sat down for breakfast. Sparing the ghost a glance, Eva looked Sayo over to make sure everything was there.

Taking a moment to swallow and wash down her breakfast with her tea, Eva cleared her throat. "Sayo. Did you check everything before you entered the body? You remember what happened last time, don't you?"

"...?" Zazie said with a playful smirk.

"Zacchan!" Sayo whined, the pale doll's cheeks blushing in embarrassment somehow. "Yes, I checked the body before entering it. Completely dressed and everything." Standing up, Sayo slowly turned around, showing off the far too realistic doll body that Eva gifted her. "See?"

Nodding in satisfaction, Eva finished her breakfast before making her way upstairs. "Then I will prepare for school. Rainyday, make sure everything is prepared for tonight."

"Master."

Looking down the staircase at Chachamaru, Eva raised an eyebrow. "Yes Chachamaru? I need to hurry else I will be late."

"You will be excused for Tardiness... the Headmaster expressed a wish to meet with you today."

Grumbling, Eva nodded and headed to the shower. "Great... there goes my morning.... what could be so important that the old man couldn't wait til after school?"

.... elsewhere, around that time, a young, redheaded boy with spectacles sneezed on a train, a mysterious wind causing multiple skirts to fly up...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And there we have a day in the life of Eva in the Light. One that we won;t see go so routinely in a long while *cackles*
Ah, so everyone's favorite gynoid does exist.
Good, good....(*rubs hands together in an evil-ish way, not sure why*)
And it would seem SoftRogue's theory of Negi living with Eva and friends may come true...Make sense as they all know about Magic, and would probably make Negi a little more comfortable....except for Eva trying to bite him, Zazie staring at him with her blank face, and Sayo being her clumsy ghostly self.
Still can't figure out if Eva's personality is different then from canon. She seems to be a little friendlier, due to living with others, but is her goal still to escape the campus? Is she still willing to drain Negi dry to be free? Or will she turn Negi into her willing slave to replace any feelings of Nagi (wait....what? :ph43r: )
Regardless, I think Negi, the son of her crush/worst enemy, living with her is going to be fun. Add in Zazie and Sayo, along with a dash of Chachamaru and this should be intresting. :lol:
*dons a tinfoil hat* I admit to nothing.
Glad to see I'm breathing life back into the Negima Section. One cold say RBF was already doing that...
But then, I know whose to blame for much of that :evil2:
Curse the tin-foil hat! Now I shall have to sit in the dark trying to figure out what awaits us.....damn you lack of instant gratification! Damn you!!
But yah, life in the Negima section has being kinda.....well, lifeless <_< Nice to see some activity again.
Would like to try my hand at a fic as well, but I don't feel like I know the characters well enough to try writing them. Gotta re-read the manga a few times first.......Hard to write when you don't entirely understand whatÆs going on, or characters personalities completely :p
So, need to rely on you and RBF to keep the section alive :sisi:
Well, it seems that I might have been off and the two ideas I posted are somewhat merged.
It doesn't matter if Takamichi 'forced' Zazie on Eva or not, the fact that she gave Sayo a body and wants everyone to eat together speaks volumes. Now, if her apparent change in personality is caused by a radical change in Eva's past or a more recent change is something to be pondered.
One thing it looks like we're going to miss is going to be the later interactions between Sayo and Asakura. :(
Hum...with Negi living with Eva and Co.; he won't be subjected to being sexually assaulted in the bath by the majority of the class. However, he won't have the later protection of Asuna from Ayaka. In fact, I can easily see Eva sitting back and watching Ayaka do unspeakable things to Negi for grins.
:blink: Did not consider that..... Poor, poor Negi.... :snigger:
I really can't wait for more of this.
I think the early Sayo/Negi interactions and Sayo/Eva interactions will make up for the lack of Sayo/Asakura fun.
And I just wanted to point out that just because Neji isn't going to be going to the public bath, doesn't mean he isn't going to be sexually assualted. For Example:
Bath Suprise 1
and
Bath suprise 2
Negi is never safe anywhere :sisi:
Oh, I never doubted that Negi was going to get assaulted. It's just that who is doing the assaulting and the reactions around them are going to change.
Zazie might step into the 'protector' roll that Asuna isn't around to be in. Or even Chachamaru; especially since she seems to be on the path to become more human earlier than she did in the manga.
Negi is never safe anywhere? :sisi:
Was there any doubt?
Wow, it's been a while.. lately I've been thinking bout this idea while trying to work on the next chapter of Knights and Ronins. Perhaps it'll go further than a few more snippets....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Are you sure you don't want us to come with you Eva-chan?" Sayo asked worriedly. "You know how you get whenever you meet with the Headmaster alone." Biting her bottom lip gently, Sayo hugged her backpack tightly for comfort... said backpack in the form of an odd blond doll with a rather disconcerting stare.

"Che... don't worry 'bout the hag, Sayo-chan. She can handle that old bag o' bones! Hell, if we're lucky, there might even be a bloodbath!" the voice came from said disturbing doll in Sayo's arms. Noty noticing the angry stare Eva was giving the doll, Sayo smiled softly and patted Chachazero's hair with a giggle.

"Oh Zero-chan, you're so silly! Thanks for trying to make me feel better!"

Eva held back the need to question how the doll's hope for slaughter made the spirit feel better. While she considered Sayo her best friend, and she had spent hundreds of years with Chachazero by her side... she honestly couldn't understand either of them sometimes. But then, watching the two of them get along, she figured she didn't want to.

"...?"

Frowning, she glanced to Zazie and let out an annoyed sigh. "No Rainyday, I'm NOT jealous. Now, just send me to a spot where I can get to the Headmaster's office. All of you go to class ahead of me. I'm the only one excused, so I'll need you to take notes."

Feeling a presence behind her, Eva glanced over her shoulder to Chachamaru, who stood waiting expectantly. "I shall accompany you, my Master." she said in her usual monotone, though there was a finality in the statement that brooked no argument.

Grumbling softly, Eva shook her head. "Fine. You've been lacking in your duties since you've been away anyway."

As Zazie's shadows combined together to form a swirling portal, Eva allowed herself a soft smile when she stepped through...

... right into the closed door of a broom closet. Wincing in pain, Eva rubbed at her nose, before turning around to glare through the already dwindling portal, unfortunately, Chachamaru's body was blocking it from sight.

"Do you require a bandage, my master?" Chachamaru asked, the gynoid's hands moving to gently cup Eva's face so she could get a better look at any damage her master might have taken.

Smacking Chachamaru's hands away, Eva let ut an indignant sniff and looked around the empty hallway, the broom closet she had... encountered... was relatively close to the Headmaster's office. "I'm fine, Chachamaru... it'll take more than walking into a door to damage the likes of me." Crossing her arms, she felt her eye twitch as she did her best to restrain the compulsion to rub at her nose. Even if Zazie wasn't around, she wouldn't give the demonic clown the satisfaction of knowing how much that hurt.

By the time they had reached the doors to the Headmaster's office, Eva had calmed herself enough to settle her features from indignant anger to mild irritation. Without even waiting for an invitation to enter, Eva merely nodded at Chachamaru. At the signal, the gynoid bowed slightly, before opening the doors for her Mistress. "Old man, I'm here."

Looking up from some paperwork on his desk, Konoemon regarded Eva for a moment before smiling brightly. "Ah, Evangeline! Come in, come in! You're just in time!" Motioning to the seat in front of his desk, the old man gave a light chuckle. "it has been a while since we last spoke. Are things going well between you and your roommates?"

Eva twitched at the mention of her roommates. Shaking her head to clear away the events of a few moments ago, Eva moved to take the offered seat, Chachamaru closing the doors behind her before standing behind her Mistress silently. "You didn't call me for pleasantries Konoemon... nor did you call me here for tea and a game of Go." Leaning back against the seat, she regarded the old man before her icily. "So what business did you have with me that couldn't wait til after school?"

Laughing off Eva's cold remarks, Konoemon motioned to the nearby tea set, already heated and waiting to be poured. "Perhaps some tea, before we get down to business?" At Eva's light nod, Chachamaru dutifully made her way to the tray and poured three cups of the tea, placing one before the headmaster and her Mistress, before taking one for herself.

After taking a sip of the tea, Eva placed the cup on the desk and waited for Konoemon to begin.

"Well... as you know, due to his already hectic schedule, Takamichi-kun is unable to continue teaching this year. As such, we have a rather interesting young mage coming to take his place in your class as the English teacher."

And so it begins.

Fun is going to be had since we do not have to wait for Eva to 'thaw' a bit first. I suppose things will move pretty quickly since less time will be wasted with Negi trying to hide his magic & the other first part hijinks. Although I wonder if his relations with the currently non-magical portion of the class will suffer any. And to be a total nerd, kuudere is so much better than tsundere.

In any case, hopefully the next snippet will not be in another year. Work hard!
