Hmmm...

Just had this mental image of Isshin chasing around Ukitake for "molesting his precious daughter".

Well, either that or Isshin pulls a Lt. Colonel Hughes (FMA) with his wife's poster.
Isshin would, if anything, cheer them on and break out the good booze.

He's the kind of "Live your life to the extreme, as long and as hard as you can" father.

Of course, Ukitake's life will be extreme(ly painful) and (not very) long and hard(ly pleasant) if he ever hurts "My sweet baby girl" (quote isshin)

The thing to remember is that as far as I can tell the only theme you've set up is that this is about what happened to the good gys. How they changed in the midst of a seemingly unwinnable war. Not one they're losing, just one that won't end. People have changed. We saw Keigo's insanity. We saw Yuzu a hardened scientist. We saw Chad become a fighter instead of a protecter. We saw relationships have formed. It all seems to about how these people changed. If there is any other theme I have yet to see it.
That's about it in the nutshell. Warborn isn't a 'story'. Not exactly. I just wanted to show, like you said, people during the conflict. Chnges, both good and bad, during a long, very tiresome and bloody war. Soul Society isn't losing exactly, but they aren't winning either. I wanted to show people during the war. Not tell a story, but... I dunno, show some time of their lives in it? Pretty much something like that. Not to say there is no plot an it is just some collection of random snapshots, no. It has plot, it has direction. But it isn't the 'from beginning to the end' thing. The end of Warborn won't culuminate with 'end of the war, Ichigo & co lauded as heroes, YAY! Everybody can live happily now!'. Ichigo is the pivot, of sorts. His transformation from teenager to a man, from fighter to a true warrior, from solitary force to a leader of sorts. Chad, from gentle protector, to a battle hardened warrior knowing that some violence is needed and not to be avoided asd so on. Not all changes are good, not all beneficial. But changes none the less, changes forced, lessons learned or not, chances lost and gained. That kind of thing.

Shit, I'm rambling.

But in the nutshell, yeah. That is the main and only real theme here. And my lack of skill at writing summaries aside, it is one of the major reasons I can't write one for the Warborn.

Well, ramble or not, that was a very useful insight into the background to Warborn - I'm always fascinated by what's driving an author to tell a story. (Presuming, of course, that it's more than 'ZOMG Kewl!' which has it's place, but which can't sustain a story.)

Let me give this a shot.

"Kurosaki Ichigo - a friend, a protector, a Shinigami. He is the hub around which the wheel turns. Now the boy becomes a man, the living and the dead close ranks...and war gives birth to a new era."

If you like it, it's all yours. ^_^

I'm pretty sure that you find everything from Fosfor's virtual pen on TFF. A few fics come to mind that are housed off-site too (Crimson Edge, the fic that led me to TFF, for instance), but why go off-site when you can have TTFy goodness.

So Fosfor does not have a secret treasure hidden somewhere I haven't already plundered?

(If it sounds weird, In my native language, the sentence makes sense.)

I see. Thank you nonetheless.

There is something you can loosely call my 'bag of tricks', but it is a strange, strange colection of ideas, unpublished and unpolished fics, strange experiments in writing and so on. But nothing published, so it imght as well be non existent.

and part of them appear, sooner or later, on TFF regardless. Like the Art of the Deal, for example. Besides, I write plenty, fast and a lot. Isn't that enough?

You could always clone yourself and then have the clone do your studies and work while you write even more :p

Re: a summary, I think simplest is best here. If there's any summary that could apply to Warborn, it's just this sentence:

"War changes people."

Toraneko, thanks for the idea. Used it.

Now. My fellow... Hmm.. What should I call you? Perverts? Anti-yaoi crusaders?

Forumers? (is that even a word?)

My fellow forumers it is, then.

I just posted Warborn chapter 1 on the Fanfiction.net, under the Case13 account. Is anybody willing to bet just how many flames I'm going to get for it? Especially after yaoi fangrils read my bio? :snigger:

Hmm. In Naruto fandom maybe. But you just posted in bleach, where the number of yaoi deviants are less. (In number, at least, i don't know about the percentage)

Hope you don't get a flame, which i doubt.

By the way, added you to favourites, author alert... :snigger:

Oh, And I wholehertedly agree in all your statements about yaoi.

Blackmamuth, you're TFF. My viewpoint is shared by all TFF, in one for or another. We aren't rabid anti homosexual bigots. We are rabid anti yaoi-fangirlism.

Because, let's face it. When I see, Sasu/Naru, my stomach churns. Not because it is yaoi (not that much, anyway) but because it's practically a guarantee the story is bad.

Lo and behold, it is.

Tragically so.

And then I see another Sasu/Naru.

Lo and behold, everybody and their dog (male one) is gay. It is Kaka/Iru (no matter that there is NO. FUCKING.WAY they'd have gotten together even if they were gay.) Neji suddenly develops Hinata-level obsession with Naruto (only cooler, of corzzzz, 'cause he's so hawt and smexy adorable bishe omg omg how cuuuuuute! - only with worse grammar and more '11!!11!!' thing).

Naruto becomes the crying, effiminate uke who gets into a bawling fest from a paper cut: it hurts, it hurts so much, he left me for the WHOLE FIVE SECONDS! I will kill myself now. Wait. Stop. Cease and desist. No. I'm too much of a bitch to so much as slit my wrists. My bad. I'll just keep crying. Sakuke-kun or Neji-kun will rescue me. Or the oh so SMEXY (pardon me, I must vomit - channeling a yaoi fangirl made me violently ill) Kakashi-kun, who so mature and loving and... - just die, bitch.

Gaara becomes the passionate, slightly psychotic jilted lover (if he can't love me, he won't love anyone!) ...

And Sakura drools. Rest of the girls think it is fine, okay and wholesome and politically correct and shit. And Sasuke, Naruto and Neji make uber cute man babies who will grow into uber emo, crying, tissue skinned bishes. And everybody is happy. Except the girls finally realise that they... have no fucking men left!

...

And then we have one of my more recent pet peeves.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

I don't like the show too much. But meh. It'll do. Some fanfics. Cool. I like Xander as a character, the 'normal guy' archetype in a world of superpowered brainless twits a la Buffy, stupid supposed geniuses who turn lesbian uber powerful withches (because wivcca she AIN'T - Willow) supposedly wise old men who are supposed to guid but simply SUCK (Giles) and so on.

So sue me. I like the underdog heroes.

Now Alexander Lavelle Harris. Not the brightest tool in the shed. No. Not superpowered. But a nice guy. Guy whose first words to Buffy were 'Can I have you?'. Guy who had been infatiuated with that bottle blond twit from the beinning. Guy who got laid by faith. Dated (succesefuly for a time) the officialy hottest girl in school. Fell in love several times. Had frequnet fucking wild monkey sex with Anya.

...

Alexander Lavelle Harris. Gay. And with oh so loving relationship with... Spike. As in William the Bloody Awful Poet. Psycho. Vampire. And Xander utterly, undeniably HATES vampires. He hates them even more because of Angelusa and the unresolved jelaousy towards Buffy losing her virginity to the damn CORPSE.

Gay. Guy who is 'a vikig in the sack' to go by Anya's words. Gay. And with Spike.

Now go to Twisting The Hellmouth and check the 'latest' stories. I fucking guarantee roughly 30% (and that's a very, very conservative exstimate here) are the oh so popular 'Spander' stories. Meaning Spike/Xander. Or Xander/other male.

...

And the best is, that some, quite a lot of them, even, stories have something like this.

"Pairing undecided, but it will be slash. Xander/someone."

Die, bitch. Just fucking die.

And on that cheerful and rantful note, I'm off to sleep before I develop an 'andti yaoi jihad' mentality and get some friendly mufti to issue the anti-yaoi fatwa and channel the muslim desire for bombs into something more productive. Like ridding the world of the plague of the yaoi fangirls.

And no, I'm not muslim. I'm agnostic, if anything. With dash of nordic beliefs, since part of my faimliy comes from Sweden. B)

I might be in the minority when I say this, but I have found certain slash stories enjoyable. I remember one that was Xander/Spike/Peter Parker. It was worth it just to see Peter dodge Buffy's attacks without even paying attention.

The problem is, as you said, a lack of quality. It's part of every fandom that has signifigantly more males than females. That is why the Ranma fandom is relatively Yaoi free.

:sweat2: Blackmamuth, are you serious? Take a look at the section again. If it ain't Ichigo/Rukia (which I don't agree with; they act more like siblings than anything else to me) then its Ichigo/Renji or some other God-awful yaoi pairing. I don't think there's a single Ichigo/Yoruichi story over ten-thousand words...

Yaoi isn't nearly as prevalent in Bleach as you think it is. To test your theory out I had the site organize story's by romance. In the first page there wa nothing but het. Granted, almost all of it was Ichigo/Rukia. But there were a number of Ishida/Orihime, Ichigo/Orihime, and Hitsugaya/Matsumoto. It has partial protection do to the large number of females in the series.

That and the fact that most males in Bleach are not needlessly bishounen.

Ichigo? Bishounen my ass.
Chad? See above?
Ishida? Yeah, he is, but the good guys need one bishie anyway.
Boobs Orihime Boobs? She's Boobs someone Boobs sorely missed Boobs in Naruto Boobs.

and even from the captains, only two qualify, and that's Kuchiki (and he was married, so that falls flat) and Ukitake (who coughs up blood half of the time we see him - a deterrent for fangirls)

Deterrent? My, how naive. Look about just how many Ukitake/Shunsui pairings ot there and you'll get the idea. And Byakuya? Man... Byakuya/Renji pairings are out there by the dozen. Really. And apparently the fact that Byakuya was married, in love and STILL grieving after his wife even after so many years is no problem to the yaoi fangirls. Because, really. We all know they are gay. The marriage is just a cover for their 'OMG so CUUUUUUTE!!11!1!' yaoiness. Really.

Fosfor, Ukitake/Shunsui is something I consider more than just likely. And not all that wrong. That those two are pretty close friends is about as likely as Soi Fong seeing more than just her former commander in Yoruichi (which means: very likely).

And, face it, Shunsui/Ukitake is, in terms of Naruto, like Genma/Raido, since we do not see much of either pair. Unlike in Naruto, where the main character engage in assplugging every two fics, the main characters of Bleach do not.

@Byakuya/Renji: Point. But, hey, they're fangirls. A few of them leak everywhere.

@Ichigo/Yoruichi: Mentor, anyone?

:sweat2: :sweat2: :sweat2: Ohh. I stuck my foot in my mouth it seems.

Really, I just believe that bleach fandom has LESS fangirlism that Naruto. Not that it's nonexisten, sadly. There are several factors that make a fic fail instantly.

I- Yes, the word yaoi/slash automatically makes the fic a prime candidate for crap. Specially because the whole premise makes the cast completely out of character. :headbanger: :headbanger:

II-The same could be said for every fic that lists a shitload of different pairings in the summary. Guess what? you have to be a superior author to play with a large cast of characters so large, and not screw up.

III- "I suck at summery" Guess what? chances are if you suck at summaries, you suck at writting.

IV- The word highschool anywhere in the summary. no more is needed to say.

<raises an eyebrow>

Ichigo/Soi Fong

Unohana/Kenpachi

Hitsugaya/Matsumoto

Chad/Isane

And I absolutely suck at summaries, as evidenced by asking others for help.

Welcome to Warborn.
