Bleach Warborn Chapter 2 (first part)

I hope my minor practicing of Necomancy isn't too offensive, folks, but I realised I had been seriously remiss in _not_ reviewing Warborn. At all. Which is pretty bad form, given that Warborn was the spur that finally saw me open myself up to Bleach.

Seriously, this story is so good that it compelled me to go and find the source material and see what all the fuss was about. I watched evey episode of the Anime in a four day period, right up to the end of the Soul Society Arc.

Fosfor, this is one of your best fics - they're all great, and I've yet to read one and not enjoy it, but this one captures the various elements and relationships in Bleach and manages to weave them all together, as well as portraying the danger of a war against a man who knows the most intimate secrets of Seireitei.

An Ichigo who's undergone tragedy and been properly forged into a Shinigami? Oh, I'll have some of that!

I look forward to seeing more of your work, anytime, any place, any fandom.

trevelyan, not only does your name remind me of one of the most kick-ass villains I know of, but you also summed up perfectly what Warborn so great.

Personally, I'd like to add "Mixture of gritty and detached realism" to the attributes I laud Fosfor and Warborn for :)

"For England, James?"

If we're on the same wavelength, Cornuthaum, you'll understand that with little trouble. :p

I will also second your sentiment - this is a realistic look at life in a Seireitei under seige, reeling from betrayal, and scrambling for an adequate response. 'Gritty and detached realism' sums it up very nicely indeed. :mmm:

"No, for me."

As for "Gritty and detached" -

The fight of Kanzuki Rin and the immediate happenings - Gritty Realism, worthy of being in any Warhammer 40k setting.

The Induction Ceremony? I could very well imagine being there and watching. Detached Realism (since it ain't, well, real) at its best.

Yeah, I know just what you mean. The Induction had just the right atmosphere of ritual, the weight of tradition that soaks everything to do with the Shinigami. That's part of what makes Ichigo such an impressive character - he walks into the Shinigami life with no idea, stagnates for half a year, then becomes a Captain level powehouse within a couple of weeks of being totally owned.

Warborn!Ichigo, having taken that potential and handed it over to Yoruichi to mold as she saw fit...damn it, this guy is scary. I imagine the remnants of the Espada pissing themselves in fear whenever that 'red-headed Oni' is mentioned. Presuming he hasn't slaughtered them all yet.

It gives me shivers just thinking about it.

As I recall, Warborn!Aizen is already dead, but I wonder when we'll find out the specifics. Or if he's really dead at all - Aizen just keeps pulling rabbits out of his haori. ^_^

I'm pretty sure that Aizen wasn't mentioned as being dead.

He wasn't. They "merely" put a giant, gaping hole in his resources, plans and whatnot at the cost of some of their best and brightest.

Yes, after looking over Warborn again just to double-check, Aizen isn't listed as being dead. My mistake! ^_^

That's what I get for reading the only two decent Bleach fics I can find again in the same day, I suppose - I was confusing the happenings in A New Unreality with Warborn. One has a dead Aizen, one doesn't.

Hoo? And just who said Aizen isn't dead? B)

Oh you're going to like the plot twists I'm puting here. And since I need a brief break from Naruto, new Warborn chapter, or ratrher two of them will be out today or tomorrow.

And beware of plot twists. B)

Oh, you tease! :p

That's cool - I've been reading the Bleach manga again recently, so my head is full of the characters.

For the sake of accuracy, though, Aizen was not listed as being dead. This means...well, Fosfor, it means precisely what the heck you want it to mean. ^_^

I can interpret it to mean that he isn't dead, or that his corpse is rotting in the middle of Las Noches, or he's actualy using Kyouka Suigetsu to walk among the Shinigami. "This isn't the Aizen-taichou you're looking for."

Or, hey, maybe you're being literal, and he's dead - which, technically, all Shinigami are. B)

Almost all shinigami are dead. You need to remember how many people connected to Ichigo are still alive. Basically all of them that are alive, are shinigami.

<good natured smile>

<takes out a sword that looks supiciously like a certain zanpakuto and fixes glassess on his nose>

Why, trevelyan-kun. I have no idea what are you inssinuating here. Are you saying I am some sort of suspicious individual. <pats his zanpakuto> Look at my sword. Isn't it nice? Shiny? Aren't any suspicions you harbor about my person just... ridiculous? Yes, yes, trevelyan-kun. Splendid. I knew you'd agree with me.

<smirks carefully, so nobody else can see it>

Yes. All is proceeding as planned.

Hinamori shiny eyes of doom!

"Fosfor-taichou!"

That is all. Go about your business. This isn't the Aizen-taichou we're looking for.
