I think Dresden Codak has gone back to its roots of non-sequencial one-shots. As long as the Hobb arc was, it's not the 'typical' comic style of Dresden Codak.
The Hobb arc seems to have set up the universe or at least seems to be part of the backstory now I mean Kimiko is now part cybernectic.

Water Tribe
A comic format sequel to Avatar: The Last Airbender. Centred upon the adventures - and misadventures of Admiral Zhao. Three years after the end of the war, an amnesiac Zhao goes looking for his past and his future. To some extent he's taking a leaf out of Iroh's book... in others he's still the same ambitious jerk he always was.

Hmm.. Its been since 2009 since the bulk of the recomendations.. Lets fix that shall we?

WARNING: My reviews suck, so just trust me, they're really good xD

Quantum Vibe is a good webcomic set in the future in our solar system.

Mokepon is a pokemon webcomic set in what appears to be the future of the anime. It tells the tale of a trainer that doesn't really want to be a trainer. Atticus is pretty enjoyable to read, and Dragonthing is pretty awesome.

Henchmen for Hire is not a webcomic about heroes or supervillians. Its about the henchmen of said supervillians and how they opperate. Pretty enjoyable.

Grrl Power is so far short as it only updates weekly. Its a take on modern civilization only super powered being are starting to come around. And teh government is putting a team together. So far it's been pretty enjoyable. Sydney is pretty hilarious and the the plot seems to be moving in very interesting directions.

Far Out There Trigger was raised in secret to be the ultimate saboteur. He is all set to take down the world's government.. Only to find out he wasn't actually needed and the mission he was raised for happened years ago. Well, the only thing he can do is head off with his friend Layla and explore the world.

Modest Medusa What would you do if a child Medusa came out of a magical portal in your toilet? Make it a member of your family of course. Its recently gotten away from teh lightheartedness of the early comics and gotten into a pretty decent story and plot now.

Unshelved is a webcomic about Librarians. If you enjoy books and like a good laugh, this webcomic is for you.

Wait, only the old Erfworld place at OotS is linked there? Time to correct this.

Erfworld

(Summary from Tvtropes)

A fanatical, obsessed gamer geek named Parson Gotti gets magically summoned to another world to be the "Perfect Warlord" for a city that's losing a war, in a world that seems to be one giant Turn Based Strategy wargame. (For instance, nobody can move beyond the immediate vicinity when it's not their side's turn.) Plays with many different strategy game tropes. Includes cutesy, Super-Deformed art and dark characterization, landing DEEP in the territory of Grotesque Cute. Many features of Erfworld are references to real-world popular culture and Internet memes.

That comic...

I don't think the author quite realized that Jared's backstory turned into, "Pokemon fanfiction, as written by Gary Paulson".

I mean, he's the "stupid manchild" character that exists as the foil to the protag, but every time he tells an anecdote about his past, he's climbing a mountain with a giant fish tied to his back, or outrunning a swarms of huge wasps; and he lives in a cave... that has indoor plumbing and electricity he installed, by himself, on a shoestring budget, because the whole reason he lives in the cave is that he has absolutely no ability to manage money and couldn't afford to rent or buy.

In a comic about ultra-macho manly men trying to find their place in society, the dweebazoid that can't talk to women has all the skills necessary to wander off into the wilderness and establish a village. That dichotomy really distracted me from the... the whole entire rest of everything else going on.

Anyway, OT,
I recently marathoned bogleech.

Just finished reading Worm World Saga.

The art is stupidly good. It's just beautiful. The comic is only five chapters long so far, but there story is interesting. Noting group breaking but I really like how the wonder of main character comes through. In basic it is this: child-like kid from our world walks through a magic door to an alien world. If that sounds a bit pat, it kind of is, but the art brings this alien world to life incredible well. The creatures are fascinating to look out, the people beautifully drawn and geography is brimming with character. I'd advise people to click the above link, even if just to look at the gorgeous art work.

Its funny to see an old thread and look at a few of my terrible webcomic recommendations from years ago.

But yeah, http://thepunchlineismachismo.com/ is so very, very worth reading. Commander Badass is just font of wisdom in how to handle the world, especially his parenting decisions (this is not sarcasm- he raises his kids right).

http://www.gunnerkrigg.com/ is VERY worth reading. Its up to 43 chapters of stories now, and is about a girl and her friends in a bizarre, increasingly creepy school filled with techno/magical goodness. The characters get extreme development, and the author has VERY much plotted out the entire story, so its actually going places and isn't just full of asspulls.

I'm sure everyone knows www.drmcninja.com/, www.explosm.net, and http://amazingsuperpowers.com/, though if you don't, they are all very much worth reading as well.

Anyone remeber who Will Brooker is aka Doctor Batman? Well, for those who don't, he's the guy who did his PhD on the cultural history of Batman. My So Called Secret Identity is what happen when he 'decided to stop criticising mainstream comics for their representation of women, and show how it could be done differently; how it could be done better.'

The result is a very nice superhero webcomic, with a strong female lead. Only two issues have been released at the moment but the third is on the way. So far its demonstrated good if not fantastic art (closer to high end mainstream comics than than best art piece webcomics), compelling characters and a plot which is just starting to roll. It's well worth a look if you've got time.

In order to demonstrate I'm not a complete art whore, I'm going to rec this: Strong Female Protagonist. The art is not bad but it's definitely not great. It’s another super hero web comic, this time starring the recently retired Alison Green aka Mega-Girl. She is super strong and invulnerable, and one of the most powerful characters in the setting. Despite that, she has publicly revealed her identity and is trying to do something different with her life, having come to realise that superheroics aren't changing anything that really matters. Predictably parts of her past keep calling. and she has to deal with them. This is compounded by the fact that everyone knows she was Mega-Girl; there is no slipping back into anonymity for her. She also has a very interesting relationship with her onetime arch nemesis, a mind reader who has also retired (though without revealing his secret identity; this isn't a universe were super villainy is treated like a career or game).

Good points: interesting characters, fun action and a good chunk of archive. Bad points: a little heavy handed at places and the writer isn't quite as smart as he thinks he is.

So, wanted to add two new ones to the thread.

First: Wizard School
http://www.wizardschoolcomic.com/index.php?id=1
There has to be a chosen one, but no one said the good guys always get to choose who it is.The bad guys goes to the bar and picks the biggest jackass he can find to fill the role. And the jackass isn't exactly happy to find himself in a magical school far, far away from booze and legal age tits.
Very funny, and mocks a variety of modern favorites such as Harry Potter and MLP.

Second: Romantically Apocalyptic
http://romanticallyapocalyptic.com/1

More of an illustrated novel, its the story of the last sane man in the world in a post apocalyptic world, whose only companions are batshit crazy. Still, they're better company then no one...possibly...okay,its debatable.
Features a lemonade cult, a magical(Or cursed) coffee mug, and Ze Captain!

Superbitch!

Superbitch is a webcomic about, well, Superbitch: a female superhero-for-hire and her sidekick, The Art Hobo: a superpowered unemployed art school grad. With the help of their tech-savvy roommate Quinn, they fight crime…or whatever. Updates Mondays and Fridays.
Very funny, some nice black-and-white art and a foul talking heroine (and sidekick... and parrot... and, well, you get the picture). The comic is mostly a comedy, dredging up humour from the utter un-superhero-ness of its characters. Even the Art Hobo (who is in someways the right thinking straightwoman) can be really funny. Not standard superhero fair and very good for that.

It will only take you a few hours to read everything. Well worth the read.

So, this may be the wrong thread, but a cursory look at the front page didn't find a Webcomics Discussion page so here I post.

Rant On:
The topic of my discussion is the webcomic Kevin and Kell. It's a furry comic that's been running everyday for ten years + at this point, and I find it generally interesting for playing with tropes and and some funny gags. My issue is that the last couple weeks ago we've gotten back into an arc that happens every summer, where the kids of the cast end up at summer camp.

Within the context of the comic there's this whole predator/prey thing that gets played with, and ordinarily its sort of in the background, but it's really starting to bother me. Literally every animal from insects up is sentient in this world and the predators are still predatory with no general objections to this state of affairs. Now, like I said, normally in the background, and there IS an ancient conspiracy trying to keep this the status quo, but I honestly don't get how the predators and such haven't been wiped out or otherwise neutered by the more physically powerful herbivores since the Herbivore/Carnivore split is one of the big political divisions in the setting.

I understand that the entire purpose of the setting is for a gag a day furry comic, but the fridge logic involved is really just irritating me lately and I wanted to rant about it somewhere so sorry about that!

Rant over.

Emerald Oracle, I read some background on Kevin and Kell and the predator/prey thing sounds very disturbing. I don't think this comic will break my no furry rule.

Yeah. Pretty much. I read it for a long time ignoring the implications because 1) it was stylistically a newspaper comic style webcomic and 2) it was recced by a source who's taste I generally find similar to my own, but I'm about done with the fridge logic myself now.

My previous post was not to rec the comic myself, but because the fridge logic had boiled over so much for me that I felt the need to rant about the stupidity and I couldn't find a Webcomic Discussion thread while I had my mad on.

For those who are willing and able to ignore the ponderous amounts of fridge logic or are fans of the Furry Fandom its good, but my tolerance is shot so I'm about done with it.
