I agree with most of what you said, but Abel will be a goof in battle as well, he's still more serious then Vash though. He also has the whole refusing tokill thing like Vash did.

Only as far as humans are concerned. It seems like he could butcher just about any vampire who stands in his way. The whole Krusnik thing is what gives the story such an edge, actually. :D

Though the kiddy Pope is another good contender....

Trinity Blood is alright. But yeah, I'm not a huge fan of the "Vashness" of the main character. Granted, (same with Vash?), he can't just unleash his power for fear of killing others. But sometimes, when push comes to shove, got to do what you got to do.

Speaking of his 'no killing' thing, what about the vampires? Are they just 'cannon fodder' to him? From what I have seen of Trinity Blood so far, he supposedly treats them like innocent Terrans. In that their lives are just as precious as theirs. Of course, looking at the way he treats them... <_<

Just finished watching Xenosaga (the anime) and all I can say is DAMN!!

Ok...the animation is a little rough; but KOS-MOS is hot!

Now, hopfully, I'll get around to finally watching Witch Hunter Robin. I swear, I've had the entire collection for nearly six months now and everytime I try to sit down and watch it something always comes up!

On a different topic, I just picked up 'The Mel Brooks Collection'. Yes, I know that it isn't anime, but still...where else can you come across such memorable lines like "Fix your boobs; you look loke a bleedin' Picasso!" or "See: Hitler on Ice!"

No anime at the moment, but I was sitting down and watching "I love the 90's." The amount of wtf moments watching three hours of that show gave me, and the memories it brought back...

Priceless.

Pee Wee Herman getting caught fapping and arrested ftw...

Well, the other day, watched all of Galaxy Angel A, which I got as a box set.

It was ok, but not great.

Also just now finished watching 'History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi' episode 3. That is a really good series. I have to wonder how Mui would fair against Kodachi from Ranma though, on the field of Rythmic Gymnastics.

Arghh... I really need to get around to watching/reading that. I've had a few chapters and an episode or two on my harddrive for a while and just haven't gotten around to it. :/ Damn laziness.

What I have finally gotten around to watching is the last few episodes of Angelic Layer. Fairly good, although I like the manga so much better. It doesn't extend it unnecessarily at times, and I liked the manga's Shuko so much better, as her personality quirk is much cuter as opposed to the angst.

Oddly, it was Warpwizard that introduced the series to me, over on his LiveJournal some time back.

Well, I've liked the anime and manga a lot, of what I've seen and read. The opening on the anime is really neat and upbeat as well. I particularly like how Mui is drawn, especially in the fight scenes, as she gets a whole different look. I also think her bubbly airhead like demeanor is a mask. Only issue with the manga, is particularly in the earlier chapters, I hate the style the scanlated words are written in.

I'd love to see fanfics of this series, either straight, or crossover. This series I think would be great crossed with Ranma, or even Love Hina. The interactions might be very interesting to read.

I will warn that except the fights and threat scenes, it is pretty much slapstick comedy.

I've got up to episode 3 for the anime, and up to chapter 41 for the manga. There is more for the manga scanlated, but only a few chapters, that is because where I get it from is always around 3-4 chapters behind.

I tentatively have plans to *finally* get to the last ten episodes of Sailor Stars this coming weekend, I stopped way back as Usagi's whining in the last season is IMO the worst ever, and it just got way, way too annoying.

As for Angelic Layer, I've read two different crossovers of Angelic Layer with Ranma, in fact, one was updated today. But I've not read or seen the series itself, nor non-crossed fan fiction. I admit it looks interesting though.

Hmm, you know, I think I recall that post. I probably got a few chapters downloaded then. ^^;;

That happens to me a lot, annoyingly enough. I sometimes wish there was some universal text that everybody agreed on and used.

Or not, that might cause problems if I actually hated it. ^^;;

Given that it's popularity hasn't really picked up with the anime, I predict a rather low intake of fanfiction from it. Which is saddening, since it looks interesting from what I've briefly gone over.

Well, that's not really a problem, for me anyway. Slapstick is good humor, so long as it has some breaks from time to time.

Yeah, Sailor Stars was... tedious, to put it mildly. Even the author hated that season of Sailor Moon, IIRC. Although, that might have been more to do with the Sailor Stars themselves. :/

Angelic Layer is fairly average, actually. Typical CLAMP WAFF-ness. I like it, though, and my only gripe might be that the battles often make no sense (that is to say, sometimes they throw in stuff without any explanation of how it would possible work, ESPECIALLY those idiotic battle fields). Manga is much better, over all. The anime tends to drag at a few points, but nothing terminal.

I think I've seen one or two of those crossovers. But honestly, I can't see the fic lasting too long beyond Ranma owning everybody and moving on. ^^;;

Just finished watching Air TV. It has a really emotional storyline, not to mention really nice art and soundtrack. It tells the story of a travelling puppetteer who one day makes his way to a small seaside town where he meets a strange cast of characters, all of whom suffer from a supernatural problem of some kind. If you're into drama, then I really suggest this anime.

The Movie is more or less a remake of the anime but if focuses on the male and female protagonists and the story's main plotline and cuts out all the minor subplots. It's just as good, really, and I really do recommend it.

Halfway through Coyote Ragtime Show. It's a fast-paced action sci-fi with lots of gun-totting girls, over-confident guys, space-ships, explosions, and random chase scenes involving everything from priests to motherships. It tells the story of a group of pirates/criminals called the coyotes who must race against time as well as the government and the criminal guild to uncover a treasure, the hidden stash from the biggest bank robbery in the history of the universe, before it goes up in a photon-bomb-induced-supernova. I really do recommend it.

Got tired of not getting all the allusions in the NGE fics, bought the series and movies, marathoned. :headbanger:

WTF?! Man, those authors were NOT exaggerating how seriously screwed-up these characters are. I'd usually buy the mangga at this point but don't think I'll bother. I'll probably just content myself with Raa's stories.

I'll say one thing for Gainax - they sure were fond of fan service. Does anyone know which series prompted coining the term Gainax bounce and if it was any good?

I'm going to go watch Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu! now to get my sanity back. Then Ghost in the Shell SAC 2nd gig.

Well, starting to watch the first 3 episodes of Angelic Layer while working on something else.

Heh, man that scientist is creepy. As for the kid, wow she must be from the boonies if two pre-schoolers can tell her off like that. A little scatter brained as well, considering she did not think those fighters were not human.

Heh, NGE counts as one of the most psychologically messed up animes ever, even counting ones since. I think only Infinite Ryvius and Escaflowne match it. I once was told the creator was going through a mid life crisis and depression while creating it, so that is why it was messed up. Though I do not know if that is true or not. Still, even with three endings, it was messed up.

At least you can look forward to the new 4 movies/miniseries due out in Japan next year. Or the live action theatrical that is supposed to be coming out (someday) that takes place with New York as the backdrop.

EDIT: For Angelic Layer. Anyone know *why* so many other girls are so keen on asking her to be their wife shortly after introduction to her?

...Whuhuh? I didn't see anything of that sort!
I have seen little bits of Misaki's Number-One Fan (the blond who puts the boy in all the submission holds; I think her name is Tomayo) getting jealous of Misaki, and her enthusiasm for Misaki's career as a Deus borders on the "creepy pushy stalker" level, but none of what you said...

Huh... in the first three episodes, it came up twice, once by her 'aunt' hugging her and asking that, and once by Tomayo after it is brought up she liked cooking when she was with her grandmother, who then grabs her, hugs her, and asks the same thing. Then Misaki states that she cannot be another woman's wife.

As far as I know and can tell, neither knew the other had done that.

I just found it too strange that two different woman would ask another woman (especially one only in middle school) that immediately after meeting them. Thought maybe it was some running gag I did not get that everyone was supposed to know.

EDIT: For clarification, I am watching the version put out by 'a4e', if that helps any. English voice, with Japanese subs.

It's just based on the fact that both Shoko and Tamayo are awful cooks, whereas Misaki is an above average one. I suppose you could call it a gag on the traditional sense of wanting a housewife to feed them, but neither of them were serious. :p They were just more or less saying, "cook for me everyday!", but only jokingly.

It's never mentioned again besides those two points, if memory serves me. It was also only Shoko that made the remark in the manga, I believe.

Go watch Kanon. Kyoto Animation (The people who did Air AND Suzumiya Haruhi) did a remake of it, since Toei's version sucked. It's, so far, quite excellent. KyoAni, as usual, added some references to their own material, several of them amusing Haruhi gags ("Why are you narrating out loud?").

Just finished Suzuka. Starting Kino's Journey.
How strange, I was JUST watching a few episodes of Kino's Journey yesterday. Good series so far, reminds me somewhat of a Miyazaki film.

Well, right now, I'm currently watching... wait, scratch that. Make that, I have 'bought and intend to watch'...

Rest of Excel Saga.

Azumanga Diaoh.

Noir (just bought it on DVD).

<_<

Now, what I am watching is, well, mentioned it already. Bleach, Trinity Blood, and Eureka 7. Pretty good shows all three of them. Of course, I am watching it on the Cartoon Network...

Oh yeah, and Excel Saga... English VAs stink. I heard that Excel's VA changes since the one in the first few eps were so bad. I can hear why. Though I'm not sure if a new one would help save the dubbed. <_<

Err... :unsure!: I liked Excel's first (English) voice actor. She was able to imitate the original Japanese VA's insane babble speed very well. It's only mid-way (14th episode, I think?) that the VA changed, and that was because she was actually ruining her voice from speaking in that manner. The next VA was much more cautious, so Excel's voice was toned down at that point. Of course, it was less enjoyable, which lead me to switching to Japanese after that.

Yeah. I did notice that she was trying to emulate the Japanese VAs a bit. However... IMO, what sounded good in Japanese, not so much in English. IMO at least.

Ah... Azumanga. Probably one of the few non-racing animes with a person able to match fannon Misato in driving abilities. Poor... Poor... Chiyo-chan.

Oh yeah... the other one I can think of would be Taeko-chan, from Ai Yori Aoshi.

Yup. Chiyo-Chan will have to go through years of therapy due to the fact that she rode in the Yukarimobile. :unsure!:
