Probably one of the few non-racing animes with a person able to match fannon Misato in driving abilities.
It's not fanon. Misato's shown to be an insane driver in episode one :p

Hmmm... oh, I should have made that clearer. Sorry.

I know she is bad (well, insane good bad, not bad bad), but I meant that fannon makes her much worse than canon portrays.

Hmm, lesse...

Recently bought (and watched) Last Exile. Which reminded me that I have a HUGE backlog of anime on my shelf (over a year's worth) that I need to watch. Including the full series of Eden Bowy, Haibane Renmei, Stellvia, Mermaid Forest, Someday's Dreamers, Gunslinger Girl, and all the Movie and OVA's of the Original Dirty Pair. I also need to watch the first season of Maison Ikkoku, last couple of episodes of Ghost in the Shell S.A.C. 2nd Gig, and re-watch the last season of Cardcaptor Sakura. <>_<>

EDIT: Mmm, the talk of Misato's driving suddenly reminded me of this spamfic. Odd. ^^;;

Boy, you all sure make watching anime sound like such a chore...

Okay, watching 24-26 episodes back to back can be, but that's only because I am not the type who can be teased with a single episode and be left hanging like that...not when the subsequent episodes are just within my reach... -_-

Hmmm...

I liked Original Dirty Pair, but felt in some ways Flash was better.

Maison Ikkoku was one of those animes I nieither liked nor disliked, but had to see through to the end, all 96 or so episodes.

I liked the original Ghost in the Shell, but not any of the other offshoots from it.

No comment on any of the other shows you mentioned. I myself have only 10 eps of Stars backlogged (been that way for almost 3 years now) (hope to put a dent in that tomorrow), and some star trek books. I recently had a vacation and plowed through all my other backlogged anime, movies, fan fiction, and odds and end chores.

Haven't seen any of the Dirty Pair before, although I heard good things about the original, and grumbles about Flash. Which prompted me to buy the boxsets of the Original when it became available to me and pass up on Flash at the moment.

And I must admit that many of the spin offs of GitS haven't thrilled me. I liked some of S.A.C., but mostly it bored me. 2nd Gig is similar, decent but not wonderful, and I'm mostly obliged to finish it since I've already watched more then half of it. Innocence was a good visual feast, but rather boring over all.

Although, getting to see Innocence was a pretty annoying adventure, since when it first came over from Japan, it was released in theaters. Naturally, none of them were near me, so only went to visit my relatives later that year did I try grabbing a showing of it. Unfortunately, somebody wanted to play a prank during the last twenty minutes of it and pulled the fire alarm. -_- Instead of getting a re-fund, I got this stupid stub that would let me watch the movie again, later. Of course, since I was flying back that same day, I lost my money.

Had to wait until it came out on DVD to watch the last bit of it. <_< Wasn't that great either, very anti-climatic.

Still, I've heard some good things about S.A.C. SSS, which made me want to finish the last bit of 2nd Gig so I could view it properly.

Boy, you all sure make watching anime sound like such a chore...
Mmm, do I? Well, I admit I could probably get more time to watch these things if I scheduled myself better, but...

I still need to get around seeing SSS. GitS SAC 1 and 2 gig were great IMO. As well as the original GitS movie. Haven't gotten around to seeing Innocence yet since I haven't bought it for a number of reasons. One being that if I buy it, makes me want to buy GitS original and SAC, which given current financial situation, a little bit 'much' for my meager paycheck.

Oh, and I still haven't gotten around seeing AMG TV season 1. -_-

Oh yeah, and Last Exile... reminds me that I should try again writing my lemon. Maybe I can make it semi-hot instead of crappy. :unsure!:

Oh, and I still haven't gotten around seeing AMG TV season 1.
Both season 1 and the shortened 22 episode season 2 were a blast, and I cannot recommend them enough, I really loved the opening as well. Season 2 is likely the best romance anime I've seen all year. (Elfen Lied for drama/angst, and Vandread for sci-fi).

Yup. Loved the openings and endings. As for the series? Looks awesome, and might jump start a number of my "planned but stuck in backburner" AMG fics as well. Just that, haven't found the time to watch it, and when I do find the time, I might want to use it for something else. Things like <s>sleep, playing computer games, homework</s>, writing fics, watching the other anime I've been meaning to watch, or reading the mangas I have also been meaning to read. Like *cough*Love Hina*cough* (maybe another reason why FB hasn't been updated? I haven't read all of them yet. -_- Granted, more 'work' than I thought it would be but still...).

I'd probably wait for GitS: SSS to go on DVD. Then again, like I said before about the whole 'owning them on DVD' thing. Major cash outflow there. While I certainly have quite a bit of cash for someone who doesn't have to worry about rent too much (which you can probably guess where I'm living with. :unsure!: ), well, isn't something that should be 'wasted' on a series I've mostly seen either.

Heh... for me, Love Hina manga was a waste of time, and likely the biggest waste of money toward anime/manga I've made this year. While I liked how certain specific things and people were done better (Motoko, Kanako, and Tsuruko, and some odds and ends), overall I liked the anime more.

Well the anime I felt (from the six odd episodes I've seen of it), butchered a number of the characters from the series. Even though I am having a hard time going through the mangas (especially since I don't like Naru), at least her characterization and development (what little there was in the manga) was better than her anime counterpart. In the manga, Naru seemed, 'almost' acceptable.

Well, excapet for the waffling she did in the latter half, I could not tell much difference. She is a *lttle* nicer in the first third, but that is all I'll grant. On the other hand, Keitaro seems worse to me in manga.

Although, I'd heard the same said for Akane between anime and manga for Ranma, and I've not seen it there either. At least with Ranma, I liked both series pretty much equally, though I consider both to be equally canon, where most fans of that series end up not liking that view of it.

Well to me, canon goes to the series that the original creator worked on directly so to speak. In the case of Love Hina, the mangas since Akamatsu didn't have his hand directly involved with the anime series.

As for Naru, well, a nicer Naru is still an improvement over her anime counterpart. Like I said, I don't like Naru in either case. But still, even a 'little nicer' Naru is better than the bitch the appeared in the anime series (from again, the 6 episodes I've seen of it). Of course, for the Love Hina mangas in general, I have heard that after Volume 9, a number of people here believed the series took a nosedive (like Hawker 748 for example). Which makes getting through the mangas 'oh so much more fun'.

Well, finished off Sailor Stars the other day, and will be watching some more Angelic Layer tonight. Probably ep 4-6, though I have more than that.

Just watched the last few releases of Black Lagoon. Still loving it, but it's torture to hear the nipponjin VAs disembowel English in these episodes.

You mean the Engrish? :snigger: Yeah. It was pretty bad.

Well, I have seen the fansubs up to episode 21. 22 I've only seen it raw though (I would like to see the others if they are out but...I have to study. :blue: Ironically, Japanese. Which was no help in helping me understand the raw. :ph43r: ).

The voice actress has a very impressive list of roles she's done, however she's clearly not a native English speaker, or even trained to pronounce English words. I'm sure she tried like heck to do it right, but it sounded almost comic.

Despite how 'bad' it was... ... ...they still sound better, and more understandable then some people I'm... acquainted with.

They're also better at it then the reverse of a Wapanese trying to talk in Japanese.

Mmm, were finally able to get past that milestone, huh? Stars was... tiresome. I believe you'll enjoy Angelic Layer more... I hope. ^^;;

Heh, I had those last few episodes of Stars sitting for just under 3 years. Longest delay ever for me to finish something, only Love Hina Manga comes close, at 8 months, due to lack of interest in the material.

As for Stars, well, it was worse and better than I though, and did clear up a couple more minor points I only knew from what I had read.

I agree. As 'bad' as it is, at least I can understand what they are saying. As opposed to other attempts at trying to speak a different language.

Just finished watching xxxHOLiC and it was intresting to say the least. Despite the slight hints at yaoi (which never actually appear; but he, it's by CLAMP so what do you expect!) it's not that bad. It's a 'thinking person' type of anime with a horron and morbid tilt.

Deffently worth watching (when you have time).

Just bought Full Metal Panic. Hey, it was just sitting there...

In the last week I've been watching "Jungle wa Itsumo Hale nochi Guu". Its kinda old but its reasonably funny. About an evil magical girl with pink hair who eats things... like people. And pukes them back up alive. She mostly torments Hale. Its on YouTube but also available for purchase or rental as "Hare + Guu". It takes place in the jungle. Hale's mom is hot and fanservicey.

That sounds bad, but might be interesting.

At least it was *not* 'Jungle de Ikkoku'. I think that is what it was called. Bleagh.

The imagry I got was of something like the giant bear in Those Who Hunt Elves that when he went, fresh new unused toilet paper came out.
