What (anime) are you watching?

Hmmm...

Caught up on StarBlazers... I'm liking that show

Watched up to episode 6 of Bodacious Space Pirates... Ep 6 was a bit of a letdown... hope her being a pirate gets better than that.

Watched a couple more episodes of Moribito... still say like the plot and flow and characters... but not enamored with the art style.

Been tempted to take up watching Tenjo Tenge... not sure I'll do it though, and even if do... it will be after the current bout of series I've finished.

Tenjo Tenge is kind of a strange show.

First of all, it doesn't follow the manga's MC, but instead focuses mostly on several side characters, most of whom are more interesting than him, so it works in it's favor somewhat. He's there, but kind of gets kicked to the side in favor of the rival guy, his friend, and the people that surround them.

Secondly, there's an extended flashback sequence that takes up about half the show, and is by far the more interesting part of it.

I'd say it's worth checking out, but that it's a strange case of the writer mashing together the ideas he had for two entirely different manga, and ending up stuck with the less interesting one.

Ended up ditching Tenjo Tenge after a few eps... did not appeal as much as I thought it would. Pity

Finished watching Bodacious Space Pirates, that was interesting, almost a odd mix of Captain Tylor, and Yamamoto Yohko. Pity there is not more. I could easily see this being continued...

Finished watching Sword Oratoria, it was ok, nothing super great... the hero worship several character had toward others was a bit much at times though. Ending was a bit blah though.

Got caught up on Space Battleship Yamamoto... interesting developments, a lot more twists in this than the original version.

For whatever reason, there are still only 2 episodes of The Shirou Emiya cooking series... pity, while slice of life, it was odd and fun watching these guys in a normal setting.

Started watching a series my brother introduced me to... only 4 episodes in so far, called Grimoire of Zero

Did you watch the Bodacious Space Pirates movie?

Sword Oratoria anime suffered greatly from being badly adapted, heck, first novel was a shitshow with how much actual action they skipped, skipped Aiz scenes, forced original TurboLefiya scenes making her bad when she is actually quite a fun character. Manga is adapting the novels way better. Need to read Oratoria novel 5 for all the Lefiya and Bell stuff.

Shirou Cooking anime is set to 1 episode per month, this is why there are only 3 episodes out at the moment, it will be 12 episodes.

I do wonder which Nasu work will they adapt to anime next, Last Encore is sort of ok and Nero and Hakuno are kinda ok, but it directly suffers from Hakuno literally being an AI NPC like wow. Maybe they are working more on that Tsukihime remake, maybe.

Did not know about a movie... I'll have to look into it.

EDIT: Found both the series and movie on-line cheap, and ordered them...

The movie is decent, not great, but decent.

It actually has a little fanservice, and obviously the animation is a little nicer.

Other than that, it's pretty standard as far as anime movies go. Doesn't do anything to further the plot of the show, has a movie original character that drives the plot, and is kind of a stand alone thing.

I really liked this series. I was expecting a yuri fueled fanservice fest, and got pretty much the exact opposite of that.

Chiaki is one of my favorite Tsundere characters. She manages to be Tsundere without falling into the usual tropes surrounding it.

Watched it, interesting... had some plot inconsistencies with the series though. it did have a bunch of homages in it, including HAL and Kobiyashi Maru... I do wish they would have shown the battle at Marika's house... and loved what happened to Chiaki...

Finished watching Grimari of Zero, not too bad, I liked her outfit... it really could have used another season.

Caught up on Grancrest wars... kind of jumps shark in ep 9 and going into 10

Caught up on Space Battleship Yamato... would kind of like to know if the one red headed female Gamillion pilot from a few episodes prior is still floating around. latest ep was kind of meh, but have been quite liking this series

Watched Shirou Emiya Cooking Lessons 3... a bit odd, but in line with the nature of series, I think that is first view ever of interior of Taiga's house

Watched a couple more eps of Moribito

Started watching World God Only Knows... mostly a meh series, but interesting.

May rewatch Witchblade in near future. Or rewatch Bodacious Space Pirates...

Ah, The World God Only Knows, Keima is voiced by Lelouchs' VA, which makes the whole thing about constant plans and their executions all the more hillarious. Where are you at right now? Any favourite girls so far?

The World God Only Knows gets better as it goes. It has a very satisfying finale and he eventually gets what is coming to him.

Filthy lies. The last arc is terrible as is the ending.

I'm rewatching Gasaraki with seven episodes left to go. I remember from my first watch through (about 15 years ago) that the political ending was satisfying, but the one that explained the tech behind the TAs/Fakes was a little weak.

Shame, because there's some good world building and a few ideas in it that would work in a number of stories.

Finished Gasaraki and that supernatural ending was as weak as I remember it being. A shame, because the political ending was excellent.

Someone is scanlating the Gasaraki manga, latest released chapter is chapter 11, IIRC. I intend to check it to see if things are better explained in the manga.

Never watched that series.

Last episode I watched was the one with the buggy Crayon Dating Sim Game.

To be honest, at least so far I actually liked In Another World With My Smartphone slightly more. However, this is interesting enough, the main guy is basically a complete slacker, until something gets his interest, then he get motivated to action and puts real effort into it. Showing he does not lack for brains, merely lack for desire. I rank his personality as infinitely better than the personality of a main character such as Isse from High School DXD

I actually feel slightly sorry for him. Considering the situation he is in, the only girls he manages to get close to are the ones that forget about him once saved... That is kind of a sad situation since even if they forget the saving if they were able to keep the relationship his reputation and school situation would be much better.

I think my favorite part so far was the devil telling the mom she was the husbands illegitimate daughter from an affair with another woman...

As for favorite females... hard to say with so few saved so far.

Well, you can't quite call Keima a slacker considering that he helps his mother with her work, keeps his grades up and is actively involved in his hobby as an active gaming reviewer, achievement hunter, critic and so on :D.

The story shifts from episodical ghost busting to a bit more complicated ones as well.

Well... slacker in the sense that he generally puts forth the minimal effort to get anything done while concentrating on what is important to him. He seems to like and I dare say even revel in his loneliness... But people hate non-conformers.

His behavior nor attitude is not really wrong IMHO, as societal interaction is a bit overrated, except it isolates him enough from society that they take two approaches, either calling him weird and moving on (classmates), or taking offense and stepping in attempting to correct the behavior... (teacher, mother, even the devil girl, etc...)

Now... with the job he has in being forced into a potentially unending contract, even when he does go out of his way to interact, it is pointless since the girls move on without him once the devil is out of the picture.

Here is the thing, except his obsession with virtual dating sim games, which up to now I've only seen him with shall we say tasteful ones... he really does not have much in way of anything going against him... he is not overly hateful, nor perverse, nor lustful, nor really an ass, he is not ugly, rich, or poor or snobbish... He also seems to stll retain a firm grasp and keep separate what is reality and what is virtual... even if he is quick to adopt 2d dating and analysis to 3d problem solving situations. This puts him worlds above many other main characters.

Really, the biggest threat to his world is the good deeds he is doing... just in the first nine episodes, he has had his portable game player put at risk multiple times, and even drawn and written on, and even washed in a bathtub, and tasered. He himself has survived multiple deadly threats, and been stopped on and stepped on.

Heh, Keima does go through some character growth as things get a bit more complicated.

And going through the episode list I was like "wait, where's the rest? Oh yes the anime skipped stuff...", here's the breakdown someone on reddit made for adapted stuff, I suggest you to prepare the final arc chapters for reading before you finish watching S3, because you will need it considering how abruptly the S3 ends:
S1 and S2 cover chapters 1-41
Read chapters 41-53
OVA Yonin covers chapter 54-55
Read chapter 56
OVA Tenri covers chapter 57-65
Read chapters 65-113 (you could skip this, but I recommend reading it to really understand season 3)
S3 covers chapters 114-189
Read chapters 190-268 for end

Dragon Ball Super 131

It's been a good ride but time to bring this chapter to a close.

17....is MVP of this entire arc. He's not the strongest fighter out there, that's Jiren (Since Goku can't actually use Ultra Instinct whenever he wants) but he made the moves that kept everyone in the game long enough to win.

Frieza......*sigh*....you helped saved the universe and even sacrificed your chance at the Super Dragon Balls to do it....so...now you're alive again. I would GREATLY suggest you not squander this generous gift by going back to you old ways.....oh who am I kidding...you'll be back to ruling the universe in five minutes...

So... did 17's wish also bring back the 6 universes that Zeno erased at some point in the past?

That's something to think about.

Another thing to think about: Will the movie be where Goku learns to go UI on command?

Sayonara no Asa ni Yakusoku no Hana o Kazaro looks interesting, I'll watch it over the weekend. Immortal-mortal relations written by Mari Okada animated by PA Works? Worth a look.

Going to watch Kyoani's Violet Evergarden and pick up some random anime from the last year. Not too interested.

Watched both seasons of Freezing. Had potential, but the fanservice was just too much. (I can't believe I'm saying that!) Seriously, less T&A would have made the show a lot better. Also, the resolution with the main female character and her brother... definitely the lowpoint of the entire series.

Finshed Scum's Wish. Loved the art style. The series was just great overall.

Spent the last week just blazing throught My Hero Academia. I see why it's so popular; once I started watching, I had trouble stopping. It's caught my attention like few series have, in the last few years.

Really enjoying this show.

Watched Classroom☆Crisis yesterday, and I swear I've seen some of these designs before.
