Watched the first two episodes of The Helpful Fox Senko-san. I can't even tell you the protagonist's name off-hand, but he at least has an alright voice. Senko's English voice is just somehow...off? It's one of those things I really can't put to words.

As for the show itself, it's fairly nice, slow, slice-of-life. And of course they parody the whole ecchi and potential loli stuff by having it be completely non-erotic rubbing of fox ears and tail, and the protagonist gets worried about other people seeing him with the young-looking Senko getting the wrong impression :X

Nakano.

So I'm watching Maou-jou de Oyasumi & Kami-tachi ni Hirowareta Otoko, and I kind of feel like they were maybe better off as Manga? I need to watch a bit more of "Sleepy Princess" but Kami-Tachi just really isn't working for me, especially Episode 6. They just keep skipping over stuff, and they trivialized the Goblin thing that was actually kind of cool in the Manga.

Finished off Cop Craft, and around ep 21 of Claymore... started re-watching Fruit of Grisaia. Pity there was never more of that one.

Finished off Claymore, interesting series, but an iffy ending. Could havve used some ending plot maintenance episodes... The organaization does not seem the type to ignore what these girls are doing. That and the implied threat to Rocky by the King of the north leaves things very much unfinished.

Started re-watching Shuffle, also started watching for the first time Code Breakers... only some 4 episodes in, mixed feelings on it.

I just binge-watched Re:Zero season 2 (episodes 1-13). Visuals and sounds were top-notch, no complaints there. Story however ... leaves me wanting more. Presumably there is a "part 2" to this season which should get released next year, but ... as things currently stand, I'm unhappy.

My biggest problem is that it took some effort for me *not* to watch the show as it streamed. Waiting for a few months for it all to be out before beginning my watch was difficult. And yet, I'm now left with a cliff-hanger. Or at least, a very large list of plot-threads, none of which are resolved!

Re:zero is an emotionally draining anime. Depending on whom I'm talking to, I might recommend the first season - with the caveat that the entire thing needs to be watched. With what is currently released of season 2 ... -sigh- that advice is probably still valid.

Perhaps I should be upset with myanimelist.net instead? After all, it was looking at that website where I determined that the season was over and that it only had 13 episodes.

I would *like* to talk about the plot with spoiler tags ... but besides saying that I'm confused, there isn't much left to tell. :/

TLDR: Watching just 13 episodes of Re:zero season 2 is a mistake. Wait for the rest to come out and watch them all together.

...Re:Zero...
Yeah, I watched that myself as it came out, really my brother is a bigger fan of the series than myself, though it has some interesting characters.... The thing with the last number of episodes is in some ways it is worse than the Haruhi Suzimiya Endless 8 episodes that repeatedly replay summer vacation... I actually would prefer it move forward with the plot than repeating mostly the same material episode to episode with differing endings and differing information provided.

Sounds like you find Re:Zero to be slow-paced. I can understand the opinion about episodes repeating, but ... I did not feel that way. Sure, there *are* repeating moments - it is the point of a power like return-from-death (or as I like to think of it, save-scumming). But ... I've never felt as if those episodes failed to move the narrative forward - Subaru does learn new information on each of those loops.

Which is where *I* have a problem with the show - Subaru learns some new information. But me, as a viewer? I'm lost. The narration does move forward ... but the general world plot? Yeah, that's been at a stand-still for a few episodes. But I won't fault the show for it.

In that sense, I'll compare Re:Zero to Code Geass. The general idea of "super power to control others to do whatever you tell them to" sounds boring. Or a hentai plot. And yet, Code Geass does something wonderful with it. Re:zero does something very remarkable with the return-by-death power without turning the story boring. That is something of an achievement, in my eyes.

But just because the narration moves forward, does not mean that the plot is moving forward. In that sense, I am frusterated and unhappy with season 2. They should have just released all 26 episodes and be done with it!

I've started watching Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?). Am 3 episodes in, and must say, this show is trouncing my expectations! As in; I came in expecting a boring harem anime which would turn me off soon. Instead, I find myself drawn into the world. Hopefully, that feeling will continue.

My brother loves that show, and its spinoffs... But while he is eager for more with the newest, I'm not and starting with this season I quit it... the show *is* better than I thought, the background is fairly rich and interesting, and I like a number of the side characters. I can see enormous potential in crossover fanfiction...

The main problem I have with it is the two main characters... I really can't bring myself to watch the latest season, mostly because of them. The minor problem is there are background issues and side comments made that make what is happening extremely interesting, but are never explored...

Finished watching season 1 of Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?). And it's disappointing. Not bad enough to drop, but feels like a lot of lost potential.

The title made me think this would be a generic harem anime. Upto episode 3 or 4, it felt that way. As in; the MC is not *ignorant* of potential relationships, he has feelings for the opposite sex and hey, behaves like a good man. His Goddess obviously adores him and sees him as a romantic partner. He sees her with a Familia-Goddess relationship; something, I'm not sure how to define - but it isn't romantic. There is another Goddess-Familia pairing in the first season similar to this which made me wonder if in-world, its forbidden or something? i.e. a 'mortal' is not supposed to be in a relationship with their deity? Nothing along the lines is explained and I could simply be reading more into it than the author intended.

Episode 5 is where the disappointment started for me. The MC wants to go out with his Goddess, who (involuntarily) tells the other deiteis who decide to jump in and interrupt any hope of a private moment for the two. Then there is the episode with the peeking-women-bathing scene. I was hoping it would not be there in the show, but ... -sigh- . Arguably, the scenes were tastefully done, relative to some over-the-top reactions I've seen elsewhere.

What bothers me the most about the show is that there does not appear to be any plot. The MC wants to get stronger and goes dungeon diving. Near the end of season 1, he (and others) encounter a boss-level monster. It's a hard fight, but they make it through and the season is over.

I started watching the show, hoping for some fantasy-adventure. Instead, I got slice-of-life dungeon crawling. Then again, there *is* the anime title. STILL.... I'm upset.

The main problem I have with it is the two main characters... I really can't bring myself to watch the latest season, mostly because of them. The minor problem is there are background issues and side comments made that make what is happening extremely interesting, but are never explored...
Are you talking about the MC, Bell Carnel and the Goddess Hestia ? I'm upset that their relationship isn't more romanic/cuddly. Is it the same for you, or something else?

Not really... my problem, is I really can't stand Hestia... I'd rather there *NOT* be romance between them, as it interferes with other potential romantic interests/relationships, and character development... Like for example the original girl he had a crush on I thought a better fit for him, assuming he could man up. There are a couple others in later arcs I would not have minded, there is one elf, and one ninja type as well, to name two....

Like said, I like the backdrop, and some of the characterizations... and wish these other characters and plot hints were better addressed.

Oh, and not to spoil it too much for you, but if you *do* deside to watch all the rest, it turns out there is one small arc that outright proves that Bell Crandall's situation is *not* unique, and it has happened before in the past. You get to see the results of that... but again, I won't spoil it for you other than it exists...

Just finished the second season of Danmachi (a.k.a Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? )

I find myself rooting for Hestia. Her and Bell would make for a fun couple. But, it does not look like Bell has such interests. As in; he obviously cares for those around him - and he sees Ais Wallenstein as this senior to look up to. And he enjoys feminine beauty (something I find rather surprising in the show!). In spite of that, he appears mature enough to distinguish between lust and romance. As a guy, it looks like he has some lustful thoughts every now and then, but romantic interests?

He just does not appear to think of it. Or perhaps he's just over-whelmed that he does not know what to think? Either way, with the way the show is going, it looks like he's going to be in the I-do-not-know-what-to-do camp. Which means, I'll need to get those fixes of mine via fanfiction. :D

Romance aside, I'm stunned that they made prostitution such a center-piece of the second season. It's not something I expect from a show targeting teenagers. Morality discussions about the topic aside, the issue of people entering that industry against their will is (in my eyes) a serious matter and it makes me uncomfortable to see a show bring a comedic light to it.

At the end of the day, I think I'll rate this show as a bit below vanilla flavor. The world itself is interesting and has potential. But the story being told here, is just all over the place. Heck, even though we have 'dungeon' in the title, there are too few moments where significant plot events happen within a dungeon!

Also ... why was the city of Orario generally worried about Hestia's kidnapping? That, I do not understand. It was a fellow God who took her. A God who does not have as fearsome a reputation as some of the ones who reside within the city.

With the anime second season ... the war-game was poorly executed. As in, I felt no real tension watching those events - because the opening+ending songs blatantly show Hestia living in a mansion! That was botched story-telling.

@PCHeintz72,

I will agree with you that there is a lot this story does not explore. Which is a crying shame. The world the story takes place in, has my interest. But it does not appear that that the author cares to explain much of it. :/

The potential is there, it is a pretty rich environment... Have you seen all the side series and arcs as well, like the hit springs adventure...

Like said, some love it (my brother being one), and it obviously has a big enough audience to warrant all the sequels and side series... But for me, a bit of a disappointment...

From what little bits and pieces I've seen of the series, Hestia is indeed best girl. But, main character gonna main character and ignore best girl and go for someone else instead.

Anyways...not really watching, but since it's been close to 2 decades since I've watched it (when it first aired), I think I'll eventually rewatch Medabots. The dub had the most insanely awesome 90s-esque opening theme too

It's a shame the games it's based on are kinda bad.

I watched CHAOS;Head, since it leads into a VN I'll be playing (CHAOS;Child)

I gotta be honest. While the main couple is pretty cute, the plot was borderline incomprehensible at points. I understand this is a VN adaptation, but it must have cut out enough exposition to really make it difficult to follow more than the basic plot beats.

I finished watching Rokka no Yuusha (Braves of Six Flowers). The basic story is that an ancient evil has arisen, but 6 braves/heroes will be chosen to confront it. Instead, 7 individuals meetup - much of the story is about trying to identify the mysterious "seventh".

I came into the show expecting mystery - something along the lines of Conan or Dan Detective School. Instead, I get an action show using the mystery element to advance the plot. In that sense - it's a nice 12 episode show. The fight sequences are fun to watch, the lead hero has some amazing stunts to pull, the supporting cast is no push-over and the ending concludes things well - with the exception of the hook for a season 2. That bit was disappointing, but thankfully only happens in the very last episode, that too, near the end, so we can safely ignore it.

The show was fun to watch and very enjoyable. I do not want to watch a season 2, because they appear to be attempting the *exact* same "mystery" hook - which, is exhausting, IMO.

I do not have too much more to say about the show - it was a good timepass. Would I watch it again? Not sure. But I *did* enjoy it the first time round - just come in expecting action with good fight scenes. The english dub was done well too!

https://myanimelist.net/anime/38395/Otona_no_Bouguya-san categorizes it as ecchi. Is that what you meant? Or some other kind of weirdness?

-chronodekar
The one episode I watched (I think they dumped the whole thing onto the service since) was under 11 minutes, and the first 3 or so is old style 8 bit video gaming breaking4th wall, and the rest was very cringe worthy, partly because of thhe blatent ecchi, which I was surprised was on CR at all, but because of the screechy voices as well. Though I'd have to say Issei would likely love it there.
