Re Watching the original Evangelion, to kill the bad taste of Rebuild. Ghost in the Shell movies, and the Ah Megami, OVAS. And there is a Locomotion channel fan revival on IPTV that put the old movies, they even put things like Virgin Fleet, Elcya or Pia Carrot.

I've watched some odds and ends over the last week or so...

The Iskei Cheat Magician 13# subbed.
The Saga of Tanya the Evil Desert Pasta episode.
The Slime Series 36.5 special.

Got to wonder on the Saga of Tanya the Evil, if that might be a possible lead in to another series

I'm still hoping for more of either Shield Hero or Arifureta.

Shield Hero has a second season coming in October I want to say?
And I tihnk I heard January for Arifureta... but... I originally heard December last year for that... The times keep moving, so I keep hoping until I actually see the episodes.

I heard the author wasn't happy with how the first season was animated, so it might just end up getting rebooted or something.

For Arifureta I've heard on line of a lot of critisizm of the first season animation since I watched it... to be honest. I can't see the issue... the only time the animation appeared subpar or really off to me was when it was in the middle of the main characters body dealing with the poisons and toxins of eating monster flesh. I actually sort of thought it was supposed to be that way for that scene, trying to duplicate how someone being doped up on a psychedelic or hallucinogenic drug might perceive the world.

I watched the 12 episodes of 'I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level '.

It's a light-hearted semi-slice of life anime, where the protagonist is reincarnated as an immortal witch with no strings attached. 300 years later, Azusa is the setting's equivalent of Level 99, and curbstomps her opponent in every fight she lands in, thus preserving the slice-of-life narrative. The '300 years' really doesn't come into play much after the first episode besides Azusa's occasional musings that she's more than OK with breaking up her slow pace with some adventures and new friends. During the course of the series, she picks up a number of 'family members', basically all demi-immortals in some sense or another.

The series is mostly wholesome, but there are definitely yuri ecchi undertones a lot of times, but never any flat-out relationships. If I had to complain, they add new family members at a fairly rapid pace, so they don't quite each get fleshed out as much as they could, even with some byplay in later episodes. But I would recommend it on the whole.

One of the characters is an elf named Halkara, who definitely fits the mocking stereotype we have on some of the NSFW sections of a dumb, blonde, sex-thirsted bimbo elf who's good for nothing but for breeding. Well, she's good at business, too.

Finished watching The Helpful Fox Senko-san

Would not really recommend, because...it felt like nothing really happened the majority of the time. I mean, slice-of-life shows are always on the slow side, but this felt like there was barely any development whatsoever. Some humorous moments, but I guess that was about it.

Watched the first half (6 / 12 episodes) of The Demon Girl Next Door.

The basic premise is the protagonist, Yuko Yoshida, becomes a demon girl overnight, gaining goat horns and a succubus tail. This...doesn't really change much at all, except now she has to find a magical girl and fight her to take her blood to undo a family curse. The problem with that is Yuko's family is poor, so she's generally malnourished and has a weak body, so when she finds a magical girl in her grade, said magical girl is a lot taller and stronger than her. And nobody takes Yuko seriously as a result, especially when she struggles to even lift a makeshift weapon up.

It's very light-hearted for the most part. Comedy with heartwarming moments and slice-of-life, that sort of mishmash that's fairly common. Though I wouldn't be surprised if the last couple of episodes suddenly take a curveball and have some dark moments, as is the course for this kind of show. A lot of the comedy comes at Yuko's expense, either between her being a shorty, having no stamina whatsoever, blowing what little money she gets on tasty food (and obsessing over tasty food when trying to summon up emotions to use her magic), etc. One running gag is calling Yuko 'Shamiko', from when she tries to introduce herself under her demon alias 'Shadow Mistress Rumiko', but gets completely tongue-tied and fumbles her introduction, and the nickname is sticking. The show very much loves its 'cute girl making adorable distress noises' shots, which I'm honestly a fan of. The animation also loves to play up her tail emoting on its own, and there's a few neat moments where Yuko's classmates play with her tail while it's wandering around.

I watched a few episodes each of both Remake My Life, and the Daily Life of the Immortal King. Neither is bad nor super great... but both are interesting...

In Remake My Life the guy, while 10 years back in time and making a decisiion as to which college and carreer patth to choose, gets to redo it all, but then finds he has a whole new set of issues, and has to keep those whom he knows succeeded in life from failing...

In Daily Life of the Immortal King, the guy is uber pwowerful, but would rather try to have a quiet life... he seems to keep failing miserably, which is hilarious... so far... hope they can keep it interesting though.

The expected curveball and dark moment were about the last episode and a half, but even then didn't go too dark. Other than that, I really did enjoy it. Shamiko is a dim-witted and gullible protagonist, but she deserves all the headpats!

Since the narrative often pokes fun at her expense with her gullibility, shortness, and lack of stamina, she's often on the 'losing' side. Pretty much the end of every episode, she's always trotting out her catchphrase, 'Don't think this means you've won!' :)

I watched the English dub, and VA was pretty good. Nothing outstanding, but definitely decent.

Just finished watching the first season of Konosuba. 10 episodes, minus the OVA.

I enjoyed it. Definitely entertaining and humorous in how it basically trolls its protagonists and makes them all idiots who undermine each other, as well as the way it light-heartedly parodies the isekai tropes. Animation is really good, too. It's fairly smooth throughout, and the studio really brought its A-game with the 'epic' sequences, like the fights with demons or the last episode sequence.

I switched a little bit between sub and dub. I was rather surprised at how very similar the dub VAs sound compared to the original Japanese VAs. They're not identical, but they're weirdly really close. I was rather a little shocked to see at how little, if any, that they censored the English release, especially with the succubus episode.

I low-key ship Kazuma and Megumin. They've got cute moments together, but it mostly comes from how much time they probably spent together. Each day they'd walk out of town quite a ways, Megumin would cast a spell, and Kazuma would physically carry her back. It's likely they did this together for months. Quite a bonding exercise after that amount of time.

Maybe I'll make a Konosuba topic. Nobody really makes topics on this board for individual series anymore.

My verdict, though?

These party members clearly deserve each other.

Any idea if Kazuma and Megumin are a canon couple? I've read a few fanfics with them (including an AU). When written well, they mesh together.

I don't know how far ahead of where I'm at that is. There's 17 books of the light novels, and I'm uncertain how many volumes the first season and second season adapt (I would guess 3 books each?). A lot better choice than useless goddess though imo!

Aside from Megumin, Darkness also confesses to him but is shot down, more or less. Princess Iris is also romantically interested in him, maybe also Chris but it's kind of vague? He went on a few dates with Yunyun in the Web Novel version as well, so...

Aqua is his best friend, there are zero romantic inclinations on either side.

It's a good thing him and Aqua don't get together. I would expect Aqua's uselessness to extend to being useless as a mother too

He does Drop Kick one of the Demon King's generals for making her cry though.

Only means he cares for her. Which, after all they've been through together, makes sense. For that matter, she values him too. They both do. In their own ... unique way.

I like him and Yunyun as a couple. Just my fanon favorite. Speaking of which, there is a *wonderful* fanfic with them that I finished reading a few days ago = https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13626196/1/Kazuma-Sato-HERO-OF-BELZERG

That story has an easy recommendation from me. It gets, well cheesy at times, but the writing and plot is most certainly above average.

And watched Season 2 of Konosuba. I still have the two OVAs and the movie to watch as well.

I'm...surprised at just how raunchy even the English dub gets at time. Wow. It really doesn't hold back on some of those moments. Straight up several moments of completely naked characters in baths in at least two episodes with convenient censoring, and even that dialogue between Megumin and Kazuma when fighting to get into the bath in episode 3. There is a moment in...episode 4, I think, when Kazuma is able to steal Aqua's raiment. Considering every other girl he uses steal on he ends up with her panties, I finally understand the whole joke about Aqua not wearing underwear. Well, that, and the animation gives the pinkish part of her skirt some real sheer at some times.

The first 4 episodes were good, but I was just about killing myself laughing into the middle episodes. Darkness just achieved new heights in absurdities, especially after getting possessed by Vanier. The byplay between the two VAs in that episode was so good.

Yunyun is just so adorable and precious. I feel so bad for her, but she makes a perfect addition to the cast of sadsack characters this bunch of jokers is. Following up on my previous comment about Kazuma/Megumin, I find it adorable at the start of episode 3 how those two continue to go out every day for Megumin to cast her explosion and Kazuma to carry her back. They're even skipping along together singing while practically holding arms!

Animation took a little of a nosedive in season 2. Not hugely noticeable, but there are bits. A little more still shots, an overreliance on |--| mouths, solid one-shade eyes in some shots, and missing accessories at points (I think I counted Megumin's collar disappearing and reappearing in one scene about 6 times). There's a couple of scenes where the animation takes a sudden quality drop, like a scene with Aqua in the ostrich episode, which I think is supposed to be a deliberate style thing, but I don't recall that happening in Season 1 at all. The fight episodes continue to really show up and wow.

Watched How Not to Summon a Demon Lord season 1. What is wrong with me? I willingly watch this stuff.

Anyways, have an actual cool action scene from the show that doesn't have ecchi (outside of 3 seconds at the end).
