What games are you buying?!

A topic where you post your gaming purchases, be they games or game-related merchandise. Just try to keep your games played ahead of your games bought, lest your backlog continue to grow!

Anyways. I just purchased a copy of Lego City Undercover for the Switch. Never played the original Wii U release, which I did hear good things about at the time, so would love to try it out.

Great game. Huge open world, lots of fun to play. Still have to finish it.

I played it on the PC. Lego City Undercover is plenty of fun and is quite humorous.

Biggest problem for me is the loading time. Takes forever on my laptop. Hoping a better, more modern system will fix that.

I bought Wargroove a few weeks ago. Besides the introduction mission, haven't touched it since. More because I got busy with some other Visual Novels. Speaking of which, I also bought Crystalline. Not sure if anyone's familiar with it, so here's the steam page;
https://store.steampowered.com/app/616250/Crystalline/

I have mixed feelings about Crystalline. I bought it, thinking it would be a story with an adventure focus. Instead, it's an adventure story with a focus on slice-of-life comedy. Which it does so decently. And even says so on their store page. Which makes me feel like I didn't read the description before buying and finishing the game. ...

If you like slice-of-life comedy, with the wrappings of an adventure story, I can easily recommend Crystalline when it goes on sale. I think I bought it for less than $5 (Canadian). It's retail price of ~$20 is too high for me.

One thing which makes this Visual Novel stand out, is the english voice acting! After playing so many Japanese (and perhaps a few Chinese?) VNs, it was really refreshing to hear a language I understood! Some digging around, and I discover that the company which published Crystalline (Pixel Fade) has english voice acting in all their VNs - which is really amazing! I'd buy more of their games, but am just not interested in the genres they publish to right now.

Coming back to Crystalline, it's an Isekai story of a guy who gets teleported to another world, meets a girl and starts the adventure in trying to get back to his home - he ends it by saving the other world. For the most part, its a linear story. There are a few mini-games in-between (which are an excellent change of pace!) and some choices, but largely speaking, the game has a single path. There *are* a few different endings, but I'm happy with what I experienced.

Maybe I should have got my game keys sharing topic up a few weeks earlier, since I have a key for Wargroove and you would've been able to save some money :eek:

In honour of the recent news, I'll tell you what games I'm not buying: anything released by Activision-Blizzard

(I do see Sekiro Must Die on their list of games, so I may split hairs and buy a used physical copy since that shouldn't give them any extra money, either).

I have never played the original Quake. Probably because even back then I had no interest in multiplayer. Which means I don't know if this is worth spending money on.

I splurged and got an arcade stick - the 8bitdo arcade! :D Playing with this is FUN!

Grabbed the following on steam,

* Skul: The Hero Slayer
* Dead Cells
* Risk of Rain 2
* Guilty Gear -SIGN-

Among that lot, I find myself playing Skul the most. It's a game where you fight your way through different rooms and bosses, but when you die, you reset and have to do everything all over again. But, as you play, you get more experience and the initial stages get easier. Some people call this class of games rouge-lites. I'm just enjoying these with my new arcade stick!

Also got a USB adapter to connect it to my PS4. Tried out a bit of Soul Calubur 6, it was glorious!! :D

I purchased Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection on sale. Physical copy. I wanted to get a new PS4 controller too, but all they had were PS5 controllers.

I bought Triangle Strategy (switch) and Mass Effect Legendary Edition (PS4). The latter, I got lucky with - Walmart was selling it for $36 + tax! (Canadian dollars) This was an in-store offer and not online.

Despite already owning it for the PS4, I'll probably still buy P5R for Switch, and maybe the Megaman Battle Network games. Pacman World is also a possibility due to some nostalgia for the PS1 Demo disc I used to play.

Got these two in the current steam sales,

Slay the Spire
Cosmic Star Heroine

Wanted something turn-based and easy to put down if interrupted. Slay the Spire fit the bill.

Was also feeling like playing an RPG. @Watashiwa keeps saying good things about Cosmic Star Heroine, so I grabbed it.
