On another note, why have they not tried for a Castlevania movie yet? As long as they have blood, monsters, and a Belmont wield a whip, the only thing they have to worry about is getting someone awesome enough to play Dracula right. The series is a very simple formula, and it wouldn't be difficult at all to put into a movie form. You can't really screw it up unless you try for a PG-13 rating.

Also, went up to gamestop today. Got one of the new points cards, a PSN card, Red Dead Redemption, and a DS game named Nostalgia that looked sort of like Skies of Arcadia. Refusing to play RDR until I finish Lords of Shadow, which shouldn't be long.
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Back up for a moment. The Castlevania series is a video game. You are suggesting that they make a movie out of it. A movie adaptation of a video game. Stop and think about that for a second. Think about how most video game movies turn out. How many of them turn out well? Better question, how many of them turn out decent?
I think our odds of getting new, good Castlevania games are much higher as long as we keep Hollywood as far away from this as possible.
A Japanese animated movie is a possibility of course. They do good work on occasion.

Naturally Uwe Boll would direct it.

What with #2 coming out pretty soon, I finally went back and started to play DA:O which for some reason I had let slip;. I started a new character and set out, because I hadn't got far at all before.

Knowing that people said it was the most unpleasant place to quest after leaving the starter town after Ostagar, I headed straight to the mages tower to get it over with.

....I can see why its so frustrating. Those 'obstacles' are so annoying because when I change between forms it wipes my buffs, and I'm confronted with lots of guys, very very annoying.

Oh well, I'm slowly making my way through this. Though stealing some guys souls seems interesting. I've stolen 3 so far, and judging by the little menu, I'm going to take one more guys soul.

So far having a blast, reminded why Bioware can make some pretty awesome games when they want to.

Yeah, and Dawnfang is even more broken for two reasons;

* It completely refills its charge meter every 12 hours
* Killing 12 things to make sure its next iteration is the 'superior' version is as simple as summoning twelve skeletons. Its not even like you have to go mudcrab hunting; you can grind it up in the privacy of your own home.

The latest patch seems to have prevented you making your own broken weapons, though; trying to enchant so much as 10 elemental damage / 100% weakness to element for 6 seconds / 100% weakness to magic for 6 seconds gets a message of 'too powerful for this soul gem', even when you're using a Grand Soul.

That's why some vile eldritch god made Black Soul Gems. :p

They don't work either. Somewhere, they've nerfed enchantment. Or else its part of OOO, an undocumented part. (And I've got Mighty Magick after it in the load order, which you think would un-nerf anything even remotely magic-related.)

Got Kingdom Hearts Re-Coded. I think I should have, at the least, waited for the price to drop. Or maybe they should have released it on the PS2 or PSP. And so far (a little less than an hour) the customization screen actually does confuse me a bit. Ultimately I'd say that both 358/2 Days and Birth by Sleep had better systems even though they were so different.

Just finished the Circle Tower plot, and dude, fucking hate some of the stuff in there. I understand completely why so many are annoyed. Well that and I killed one of the guardian demons on the way to sloth and thought it was a mook so spent a while running around the raw fade looking for her before I realized it...

Man, that blood mage abomination thing was hamming it up being 'reaching his full potential and shit' with all the eldrich light flowing around him as he truned that mage into a demon host abomination.

Then I go to all the trouble of rescuing the first enchanter and that templar former admirer of my character decides to have us all executed. Yeah I know you were being mind raped and tortured dude but not cool.(Yes I know his reaction was believable but still). Also Gregor gets like 5000 cool points in this little quest.

Now where to go, I'm thinking I might head to dwarf land next.

By Gregor I assume you mean Templar Commander Greagoir? Yeah, after the Circle quest I think I can see why he's so antsy about mages being possessed by hostile demons.

I still think, of course, that he generalizes too much (demons and mortals other than dwarves are pretty much the same in DA - 90% of the race are assholes, the remaining 10% decent. For dwarves, the asshole to decent ratio is pretty much 100% to zero), but given his age and how he's been in the Chantry since childhood, he must've seen enough of this shit to get REALLY twitchy about it.

Yeah, the whole Fade/magic/abomination problem is deliberately set up so that there is no ideal solution. When the prize for guessing wrong is some unholy massacre like the Redcliffe Incident, you can't afford any to slip the net. No matter what solution you choose, somebody is going to get it in the neck; either the magically talented people you're violating the civil rights of, or the ordinary people who are getting chewed on by demons.

Or: What they do to mages is cruel and wrong.

What happens if they don't do anything to mages is even more cruel and wrong.

The Maker called, he said not to forget that he's a complete asshole and he rules over a crapsack world. Oh, sure, its still a great place to game in... but so's Warhammer.

The Maker lived in the Fade, remember? There's a thinly veiled (but not so much) hint that what the Chantry is ACTUALLY worshipping is a very powerful Fade demon. How's that for irony? :snigger:

At this rate, Dragon Age 2 is going to have us running into cultists screaming something about blood for the blood god. :)

The whole Chantry thing make me wait for DA2 even more eagerly considering apparently one of the background element is that the Chantry is going through some MAJOR problem.

I would love being able to smack the Chantry down good. :evil2:

Eh... DC Universe is pretty fun at the moment. I know Sony is going to end up screwing it up eventually but its been fun so far. Though I'm only lvl 17 atm and the level cap is 30. I've been told by others that there is a lot of end game content and leveling is just a matter of doing quests.

Thinking of it as another City of Heroes or Champions Online doesn't work either since the game is different.
Hell, the fighting is more like Phantasy Star Online than anything else.

My personal theory is that Andraste was the result of the same ritual Morrigan wanted to use/did use at the end of DA1.

Think about it; she was, by all appearances, a human being born with the soul of something divine. Something greater even than a powerful Fade spirit (as the Guardian of the Ashes is a powerful Fade spirit, and remembers Andraste as being something other than he is).

What's the only canonical way we know that happens in Dragon Age?

The timing even matches; Andraste's first Sacred March was called 28 years after the death of Dumat, the first Archdemon. Wasn't she still a young woman when she started crusading?

I don't know. The whole "Church worships this god but it turns out to really be fake/a demon/evil" is overdone.

Well, I wasn't PLAYING it, per se (My PS2 is broken) but I did watch my roommate wrap up Silent Hill 4, the other day. My question is, what state of mind do people have to be in to get enjoyment out of this game? Because all I could think of was 'OH GOD, the Camera angles are fixed. Shit's coming out the walls to eat your soul! A Serial Killer has come back from the GRAVE to finish his dark work."

I dunno... I just don't see the fun in scuttling about like a scared rabbit in the dark. Am I missing something?

I have seen reports all over the place of a major bug having been found already in DC Universe. Just a heads up.

Overdone?

It's not merely overdone. It's completely cliche. It's so cliche that any time you encounter a god or a religious leader in a videogame, you're almost certainly going to have to kill him at some point. Evil Religious Leader Guy is right up there in the grand hall of TOTALLY SECRETLY EVIL DUDES along with King's Advisor/Wizard Guy, White Haired Prettyboy and That Mentor Person From the Beginning of the Game That Mysteriously Disappeared/Died Early On.

To be fair DA does it differently. For one, the church itself isn't evil, it is genuinely trying to make things better. It is heavy handed on the whole Mage treatment thing and wants to spread the teachings of Andraste, yes, but it isn't like "convert or die" the way 99% of evil churches are portrayed.

Moreover, I believe they honestly haven't made the connection between the Maker living in a Fade location and his being a Fade spirit himself. Because most Chantry people are... dimwitted... to say the least. I swear they effectively brainwashed themselves, because I can't call them evil. Majorly misguided and just plain dumb, yes, but ultimately good guys. They just don't connect the dots.

You can actually raise the issue of the Maker being a Fade spirit with a Chantry priest in Awakening, and they are... shaken by the thought, to say the least. You never see that particular priest again. :p Go Mad From The Revelation? :p

...you do realize that there has never been an MMO that hasn't had major bugs at launch, right?

Hell. WoW adds more bugs with every bug fix they do and people ignore it.
