What is the most "ANIME" anime you've ever watched?

...and what makes it so?

This isn't necessarily a favorite show, just one that seems to have all the right ingredients that makes it distinctly anime above and beyond.

In my case it's probably Cross Ange.

It hits pretty much every checkbox of stuff that says "Anime" to me all in one show and cranks it to 11.

It has pointless yuri, stupid levels of fanservice, mechs, an all female combat team, a kickass loli, a dense and mostly useless male MC, every 'dere' checkbox filled, comically evil villains, enemies that become allies, best friend rivals, actual death and fakeouts, absurd plot elements that make little sense, an aloof princess cut girl, DRAGONS, exaggerated morality swings, bondage, the power of friendship and love, absurdly over complicated evil plots, great action sequences, a hot spring segment, and gratuitous mention of curry being the best food ever.

Probably Naruto, if only because I watch very few anime, or anything really, at all.

So the thread is basically "Which anime you watched has the most anime cliches you can think of," isn't it?

One of these would be Valvrave the Liberator for me.

It's got pretty boys, pretty girls, robots, fights, fanservice, angst, rape because somebody has to be raped in order for this anime to be more angsty, a secret organization, a ragtag bunch of misfits fighting space nazi, space vampires, princesses, space colonies, and a plot so confusing you can rewatch it five times and you'd still not know what the fuck is going on.

Totally incomprehensible, laden with more fanservice than you need to choke an elephant, laughably bad acting, and practically 2 steps and a sneeze away from being a porno. Complete with the most milquetoast protagonist known to man, the standard big titted female lead, the equally buxom secondary female, the Sasami clone (now with tits?), the childlike (in appearance) mad genius, the isolated academy town, etc.

Ah, that one. First, and only, I saw of it was in AMV Hell. Big Titties everywhere.

All those are negative, so I'm going to go for a mostly positive one.

Tenchi spin-off Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari.

It is so much "anime" that is is completely forgettable but not utterly off-putting.

I can remember that one. It got a dub name of "War on Geminar." I kinda liked the lead's quirk of practically being a forest super ninja in a mech.

Code Geass.

It has large mechs, well-intentioned extremists, Japan as its main setting, an evil empire in charge, Tokyo is destroyed (yes, bonus points for the destruction being complete), the Rival is best friend and worst enemy at the same time, it contains psycho immortals and semi-magical powers and finally, almost everyone has natural hair and eye colors rarely found in Japan (justified because they are Britannians) or even green/pink hair.

To top that all off, it's an actual anime; it didn't start off as a manga or Light Novel. It's also a high quality anime, unlike most of what the rest of you listed.

I don't think that pirates were something anime/manga used much before One Piece itself.

I was more or less okay with Kenshi as the lead of that series. Yes, he's absurdly strong...but that is due to Jurian/Artificle human genes, training by one of the greatest swordsman of his generation, and further enhancement via the greatest scientific genius in the universe (and part time Goddess). All the women wanting the right to marry him (and trying to chase him down....again) at the series end makes sense for their society since male mecha masters are valuable and rare...his hard working attitude BEFORE that fact was widely revealed was clearly seen as a plus by the women in his school....and the majority of that years men turned out to be vicious assholes.

Heck I'd sit through a sequel series, in which Kenshi agrees to Marry Yukina and the Aura in a political arrangement to unite multiple countries with a 3rd or 4th slot left open due to the uniqueness of the situation. Now you have Yukina and Aura in the role of gate guardians....trying to ensure whoever get's that third and fourth slot is not just there to take advantage of Kenshi and the position he holds. You could play that for comedy.....and a little political intrigue. If we're going to go with the Harem ending...let's do something interesting with it.

Captain harlock used pirated in space. To mind also comes an anime movie of treasure island. Ribbon no kishi used pirates. Ninja movies used japanese pirates etc

TTGL is probably the best version of the *SPOILERS* "kid comes of age and eventually uses the power of friendship and guts to kill god" plot out there, which for me has always been the most anime of anime plots.
