What is your favorite image viewing program?

I have a lot of GIFs, but my ACDSee recently expired, so I need a new one to look at all those nifty animated GIFs I got off 4chan (Wrath of Haruhi FTW ^_^ ).

Can anyone here suggest me a free user-friendly, simple image viewer which doesn't eat up resources?

If you're running XP Windows Picture and Fax Viewer works fine for viewing them, as is Firefox.

Making them animated (or animooted :p ) however, is not something I can help you with.

Though I'm sure that someone will impart some wisdom upon us. (hint hint)

Windows Picture Viewer sucks shit. It cuts the larger animations about halfway through.

Hmmm... I've never had that problem.

However, if you dislike that one, and just want a viewer, then what of either the the Microsoft Picture Manager Viewer (*not* the same as the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer), or the Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition Viewer.

Both are decent, for me.

All of them though, with the latest updates and not the original versions, have an annoying quirk. It used to be if you used My Computer and did a search window for pictures, you would be able to page through them all using one of the three above, as it loaded the entire search list into the viewer. However, that is no longer the case, it only pulls the ones in the same directory as you click on, not the entire search list.

Personally, my biggest problem is finding a good way to view the manga that I've downloaded. If I try to view the files as a slide show (after setting the folder for pictures) the pages are often too small to see all the details on the page. If I use 'Picture and Fax Viewer' I can adjust the size of the page to see the details, but it's too much of a pain in the ass. So far, anything else I've come across I can easly adjust the size of the page, but I can't cycle through everything in the folder so I have to re-launch for every page I want to see...

If anyone can help, I'd be eternally grateful...

I've found that IrfanView is good for manga.

My favorite one is ACDSee. It is a nice utility for non-animations, though I do not know if it works well for animated ones. I also like Picasa from Google studios for my non-animated ones. The problem with ACDSee, as best I can remember ( dont use it much anymore seeing as how I use Picasa) is that it does not have the slideshow features that some viewers do that make the program rather useless. That is, supposing that I am right about this program which I may very well be, but I don't use it anymore to know for sure if it has this problem or not.

11view...

"free, fast, and easy"

They auto resize to best fit; there is also a shortcuts to view the image in its original pixel size too...

Good for manga... horrible for animated images though.

well depending on the images i use the follwing:

* normal display/wallpaper/icons -> windows picture and fax viewer
(this includes most formats png, jpg, gif, bmp, etc)

* manga scans -> cdisplay
(great for scans that are zip'd/rar'd, no need to decompress/extract... great for multiple folders in one zip... just not for multiple zips in one rar  )

* image editing, making macros, making avatars & sigs -> photohsop
(i got learned on it by some graphic designers back in school, and havent gone back since)

The old version of ACDSee (ACDSee32) does have a slideshow, but it also has a bug that sometimes speeds up animations.

Sorry for jumping in late, but I use IZArc. It was free and it works well enough.
