What universes do you want to play in?

You know I just finished reading JOhn Ringo's 'Through the looking glass' and started 'Watch on the Rhine'... and I couldn't help thinking that both novels universe would be interesting to x-over various anime/books with...

In the Posleen-verse you can have just about any anime set in modern day earth (Bar things like Tenchi, which doesn't fit the POsleen universe for OBVIOUS reasons), and then see how those charcters deal with the various alien races coming ot earht to beg gof r help fromt he psoleen (While sabotaging Earth's own military effort), and hte eventual POsleen invasion...

I actually have thoughts on two series I may write up into fic ideas:

Digimon Tamers (Counter invasion by the various digital races, Yamaki in a game of subterfuge to secure hte digital world from Darhl interference....)

Nuku Nuku (Mishama heavy industries, leader in Japan defense contracts... Nukunuku fighting off black op teams trying to kidnap Ryunoske in an attempt to 'influence' his mother and Mishama through her....

In more generic terms I wonder about other series:

Harry POtter (Very general... Wizaridng world's reaction and possible eventual destruciton. Darhl attempts to keep the WW segregated from 'muggle' society... etc.)

Inuyasha (Bone eaters well... send a 'warning' from the past about the Posleen? )



IN some ways the 'Voyage of the Space Bubble ' universe (Of which the novel 'INto the looking glass' is set) is even more useful for stories, as thanks to the intergalatic/interdimesional 'Muon' wormholes that both the good guy and the bad guys use/discover can open onto just baout any world/universe you can think of...

Plus you have a variety of scenarios a 'all out war against assimilating enemy' scenario via a Dreen invasion, Recrutiment from Earth (Earth opens a bubble bya ccident to an alternate earth/human populated area.), Or even you could have some other alien race popping up for a more conventional war story between one world and another...

and of course there is the possibility of ANime/series being set on Earth in actuality during the whole CHen reactor/Dreen INvasion from the novel and how they react to it...

Or even ALien race X,Y,Z that had only cursuroy interest in earth (LIke say Tenchi, or Uresai Yatsura) now seeing it as a HUGE desirable target (Thanks to the Chen generator Earth is essentialy as well connected as Rifts earth to toher planets/realities, without the bothersome near anhilation of all human life or waiting centuries for the rifts to die down...)

Hmm now there's a thought... Tuffy meeting Sasami, Washu, or Tokimi... (If you've read the novel you know Who Tuffy is... if its not quite clear as to WHAT TUffy is... My hteory is that TUffy is a higher dimesional being that assumed its current formt oe xist int he third dimension... )

I just finished reading Yellow Eyes, which is the latest of the Posleen books. Some seriously odd stuff happens, but it works.


It might be interesting to see how Bleach works in that setting - what can the Shinigami do when three-quarters of the human race are killed and eaten? What would Ichigo do? He'd probably be drafted, but would he be more effective fighting as a Shinigami?

Or, how much of a threat would the Posleen be if they were invading the Earth of DC or Marvel Comics? Superman could probably put a serious hurt on them on his own, but even he isn't invincible...

Gundam is another interesting choice - an Posleen attack would signify an apocalyptic disaster for the orbital habitats, and as described in the first book, mobile suits aren't ideal for fighting a Posleen phalanx if they have a decent number of railguns or any appreciable number of HVMs. However, the ubertech levelling factor (be it minovski particles or neutron jammers) could level the playing field to some degree.

One idea that is being looked at on a alternate history forum I read was crossing the Posleen Invasion with the Worldwar books by Harry Turtledove and the Draka books by S M Stirling, which would be... interesting, adding the Race as a militantly capable race who are just too conservative to adapt to the Posleen threat and the Draka as humans that even the Darhel are scared off (and the Darhel aren't scared of much).

I might not know anything about the series in question. But if Superman alone could do signifigant damage, wouldn't the rest of the metahumans be able to win the war? It would be costly, but in the end it would just be another anlien invasion.

The Deathstalker UNiverse...

So much potential in that space opera... Youc ould do anythign from ANime Charcter X being raised there, to perhaps a lost colony which due to some strange event develops abilities like cannon (Hmm say were there any HUman planets on THE OTHER side of the Darkvoid?)

Of course another interesting concept might be to have a planet under a similer idea as Halcedmon was originally... (Halcedmon was a artifical planet designed to literally be a place an adult could revert to their childhood. completely automated adn run by robotic childrens toys... till the AI's from shub came).

Let ANime UNiverse X be a bunch of Robot to entertain rich people.. until the AI's from SHub 'enlighten' them to fulls entience. How would various anime charcters react to suddenly becoming aware that they are just robots relieving the same storyline over and over... would they submit to Shub's 'kill all humans' programming? or would they fight against the other anime robots for Humanity, or GO there own way?
