RE: What You Want To Read

I want to see a fic either humorous or serious that deals with Danzo and the Super Babies of DOOM! (TM)

...So, an AU where Danzo lives and gets assigned as Bolt and Himawari's Babysitter?

...I'd read that.

No, I mean setting up behind-the-scenes marriages for the current generation and heck, the previous generation as well.

On another note

I want to read a 'Tobirama lives' fic where he kills off all the Kumo assassins and survives (possibly Danzo or Sarutobi bites the dust in turn?) to see both how his continued attitude towards the Uchiha et al affects history, and also to see how fucking broken the man who invented the Kage Bunshin, Hiraishin and Edo Tensei can really be when given another ten to twenty years.

Alternatively, Madara's whole BS about restoring himself completely after being revived with Edo Tensei...have Tobirama hijack Oro's Edo Tensei during the Chunin Exams and do the exact same thing.

RE: What You Want To Read

I'd like a story where the secondary, antagonistic characters get more mileage and development. Such as Haku, Juugo, Karin and the Sound Five. A story where these guys don't get killed or totally sidelined and become prominent characters with real development would be nice.

Where Haku gets to realise that beastly potential and preferably becomes something more than a subservient lackey, Juugo learns to control that awesome set of powers instead hiding in caves and cells, Karin exists as something other than Sasuke's pathetic stalker, and the Sound Five have the chance to grow into a serious threat from added years of experience without being swept aside in a single battle.

RE: What You Want To Read

I want more fics like MoB's DxD crossover: with an endgame Naruto, in crossovers or not, but still facing challenges.
Maybe a back-to-the-past one where he comes back with the final sage mode, and in his attempt to better the future ends up getting more and more trouble for himself.

RE: What You Want To Read

Over 2 years later and I got curious to see if any of my wishes have been fulfilled.

Minato as the main character who's survived the Kyuubi and continued to reign as Hokage.
Well, no. Menace's Radiant Nights does have Minato and Kushina survive though and his Don't Blink quest has a younger Minato as a main character.

Naruto with Wood, Ice or Lava Release.
Yes? Menace's Written in Reverse has a Wood Release!Naruto though it's something that comes up along the way rather than being a main point. It doesn't quite work like the standard Wood Release either.

I'd still like to see a proper one and I wouldn't mind Ice Release!Naruto but I couldn't care less about Lava Release anymore what with all those silly variations.

Naruto, Sasuke, Lee and Neji have been put on the same team and take on a dangerous adventure filled with asskicking and bromance.
Almost. Again, Radiant Nights was going to have Naruto, Sasuke and Neji team up for a mission at least but it's missing Lee and hasn't actually done anything yet.

It'd be nice to see more stories that start after Part 1, regardless of whether any changes have been made before then or not. Drop me in media res and introduce me to any divergences as we go along.
None that I can recall. Just Not Sick but I think that's what inspired this anyway.

I want a story where Naruto doesn't leave the village for years.
Nope.

And I want a story that starts with Sasuke losing at the Valley of the End. I don't think I've ever seen that done well.
Nope.

I want more stories where Naruto and Gaara get to be bros (before he's too busy being Kazekage).
Written in Reverse was starting down that road.

What I'd like to see is a world without Akatsuki. The individuals that made it up are still around for the most part but they're no longer confined to hunting down tailed beasts. They're just doing their own thing. Maybe they never left their home villages, maybe they're still missing-nin but causing trouble in entirely different ways or it could be a mix.
No...? Shinobi: Team 7 was doing something different with Akatsuki but I don't remember what exactly.

I'd like to see a real Fourth Shinobi War where war breaks out between the five great nations and all those caught in-between.
Nope.

Hmm. Dreaming of Sunshine has had Haku show up for the second Chuunin Exams and some members of the Sound Five are still around (if imprisoned and irrelevant), Better Left Unsaid has Haku around in the Kirigakure-related arc and at least didn't have the S5 killed until post timeskip and the Haku-centric Kirigakure's Shore was completed recently but I'd been following that anyway.

...Well, that's disappointing.

I want to read a Naruto story that actually resolves the cycle of hatred.

Sure, the ninja villages all know they can put aside their differences and team up to save the world, Zetsu isn't around to manipulate things, and the ancient conflict between the lines of Asura and Indra is put to rest. But many of the conditions that allow the cycle still exist at the end of the story as far as I can tell. Maybe the current generation will be reluctant to fight each other with memories of the 4th war still in their minds. But what about the next generation, or the one after?

The shinobi villages are still superpowered mercenary armies at the command of competing daimyo. When two of those daimyo come into conflict and one of them decides to involve their shinobi, the cycle begins again.

Both Jiraiya and Minato say it in the series, 'as long as the shinobi system exists, the cycle of hatred continues.'

I want to read a story where Naruto breaks the cycle, by either eliminating or unifying the daimyo.

Seriously that is a good point. At minimum Naruto would need to reform the great nations into democracies and nationalize their military forces if there is to be any hope of a lasting peace. Dictatorships and profit-driven private armies are inherently unstable.

I was thinking along these lines the other days where, somehow or other, Naruto equates his goal of becoming a Hokage that surpassed all others with achieving world peace from early on. Being an ignorant kid he doesn't really know what that means but as he grows up and experiences the life of a ninja and all the difficulties created by their world, he starts to understand what his dream's really about and what he'd need to do to actually accomplish it.

It'd probably be damn hard to write about realistically achieving world peace but it could be worth it.

The Daimyos aren't dictators

Based on what evidence?

In real life the Daimyos were feudal lords who answered to the Shogun (who was a military dictator) who (in theory) answered to the Emperor. But there is no Shogun or Emperor in the Narutoverse. While a solid argument could be made that the Kage hold the real power and the Daimyos are actually figureheads, the Kage do pay them lip service, stay out of non-military affairs and avoid directly moving against them. So "officially" the Daimyos do seem to be the de facto rulers of their nations.

Although I admit that "dictator" implies the leader took control by force, which the Daimyos didn't since their militaries are entirely controlled by the Kage. Since there is no evidence of elections I suppose the position is probably hereditary, so they are more like Kings.

My wants are ever growing yet so rarely fulfilled.

I want to see Naruto as a Sensor. One with sensory skills at least on par Karin, ideally with some emotion sensing thrown in. A handy ability that would tie in well with his Talk no Jutsu but doesn't massively impact his fighting level.

I want to see Naruto, in a story where he either learns to second chakra nature or has a different affinity, use Earth. Not Fire or especiially not Water. Everyone and their mother gives him water which is boring as hell.

And I want to see Naruto (and probably whatever team he's on) learn his skills from the bottom up in a logical progression. Writers seem pretty quick to hand out C-rank jutsu and above to the team (elemental or otherwise) rather than D-ranks which are literally intended for a genin's skill level. And along those same lines, inspired by my research into chakra control, I'd like a bit more depth to him learning chakra control beyond tree climbing and water walking. No-one ever mentions the right swirl, left swirl thing in fanfiction for instance.

I've been writing an idea of a Senju!Naruto (non-Jinchuuriki) where her (fem!Naruto) affinities are Water and Earth, for obvious reasons; she is also a sensor, but her range is much inferior to Karin's (a kilometer or less at 16yo, less than a tenth of Karin's). Her specialty is precise sensing in a small radius, at which she's better than everyone else.

Sorry, but her main element is Water, because she looks up to the Second - so she trained in that more.

Yes, I know I'm really bad at maintaining focus on one idea.

-----

In canon, pressurized water hasn't been expanded upon. I think that someone who knows the Rasengan and has the Oodama Rasengan like Naruto could put a lot of force into a measly Water jutsu. Small, fast, dense bullets of water rather than waterfalls and dragons.

Is that frequent in fanfictions? I honestly can't remember.

Only example I can think of is Hurricane Suite but I don't think it's that infrequent. The following are canon jutsu that mention pressure or condensed water specifically: Water Release: Water Fang Bullets, Water Release: Gunshot, Water Gun Technique & Water Gun: Two Guns.

Either way, I believe that Naruto, with the Rasengan training, could use such jutsu really well.

Perhaps spinning the Chakra in such a way that the damage is increased without much more in the way of recoil, condensing the Chakra itself and/or creating a shell on the outer reaches of a Gunshot (Teppodama), similarly to the Rasengan.
