Morning

Trudging down the steps and rubbing her eyes blearily, Akane struggled to identify the sounds she was hearing from the kitchen. She also ignored that Mara had invited herself into her bed once again. There was no school today but she had still woken up early to get a good workout in before breakfast. It also gave her some time alone before Ranma and Genma woke up to battle each other like idiots.

Peeking her head through the noren into the forbidden zone of Kasumi’s kitchen, Akane found that everything was normal. Kasumi was taking a moment to instruct Kagami on how she wanted some vegetables cut while a male Ranma was frying something at the stove.

‘Ah food.’ Akane sighed in happiness and left them alone to head out to the street to start her morning jog. If Kasumi alone produced such excellent meals then having two competent helpers could only make things better. She was nearly two blocks away before realization on what she had been thinking hit her. Not just Kagami, who she could accept as a girl, but Ranma helping Kasumi cook over her!

Leaving a light pole bent over from a punch, Akane’s anger bubbled just under the surface as she forced herself to finish her jog. Even adding several extra blocks, trying to curb her anger at her sister’s betrayal. How could Kasumi do that to her? Letting Kagami help her was one thing but Ranma too? Ranma was a boy!

Storming into the home, intent on demanding that Kasumi let her help as well, she found that the kitchen was empty. In the living room she found that breakfast was over, Kasumi was sitting with her father and Genma as they chatted.

“You ate without me?” She asked, feeling like her righteous angry wind had been taken out of her sails.

“Akane, you’ve been gone for over an hour.” Soun answered her question.

“It would have gotten cold.” Genma added.

“Well why didn’t you ask me to help you?” She rushed over to kneel down next to her older sister. “I could have helped you make breakfast.”

“You were on your way out.” The homemaker answered. “And Ranma and Kagami had already offered.”

“But--.” She sputtered.

“I saved you some, how about you get cleaned up, and I’ll warm it up for you?” Kasumi offered.

“Sure.” She nodded, eyes narrowing in anger at the two who were taking up valuable time with her sister. “Where are Ranma and Kagami?”

“Oh, they went out to pick up some more things that Kagami needs.” Her older sister answered.

“Then I need to hurry!” She exclaimed, earning a strange look from her father and sister. “What? I need to-- give them a hand.” Wringing her hands together, she quickly left the room to hide her evil giggle. ‘Oh yes, I need to help them.’

-----

Basic gist of this chapter is going to be Ranma/Kagami shopping (Ranma trying to cheer her up) and encounter Nodoka (who never finds out who Ranma is) Ends up having a nice day with the twins/inadvertently causing a whole bunch of random nice things to happen and create a cascading effect to spread happiness. Negating some of the imbalance Ranma caused.

Mara/Akane keep trying to find them for Akane to give them a piece of her mind and get constantly foiled whenever they get close.

Sounds like fun. Always enjoy seeing Akane fail to act on her anger.

... I don't remember much of anything about this story. I'm pretty sure I read it - Kagami sounds vaguely familiar - but I have no idea what's going on or why. Got a link?

Soun watched his youngest daughter leave the room in a hurry and wondered if there was something that needed his attention. Sitting deep in thought for a minute, he decided that there was nothing to be concerned about. Akane was just dealing with the changes in her life and this kind of thing would be a welcome return to normal day to day life. Chasing her betrothed around town was just the thing she needed.

Noticing that Genma had suddenly become very sullen, he decided to find out the reason. “What’s the matter, old friend?”

“Kagami-- she took all my money.” The Jusenkyo cursed man moaned pitifully.

“It happens.” He shrugged.

“How?” Genma demanded. “She just did the cute act the boy always does and then-- and then-- I just gave it up.” He stopped and blinked several times. “When did I get a daughter?” The sometimes panda asked in a daze.

“A couple days ago.” Soun answered.

“Tell me, Tendo! Is it as bad as it seems? You’ve had three.” Genma pleaded, desperately grasp at the front of Soun’s shirt.

“Worse!” He bemoaned, tears threatening to spill from his eyes. “At first they’re so cute and adorable, but then they change-- they want money-- and clothing, and jewelry, and-- boys.” He finally allowed his tears to overwhelm his control as he desperately hugged Genma in manly suffering. “I’m sorry, my friend, to have to learn about this now!”

“Kasumi, should we feel insulted?” Nabiki asked over his crying.

“No-- well a little.” Her eldest daughter answered. “Do you remember the last time father bought us something nice? I would love to have a tennis bracelet.”

“Ooh! Me too!” Nabiki agreed.

“See!” He cried even harder.

I do need things that Ranma/Kagami can do while going about town getting Kagami things she needs with Nodoka that will bring happiness. Random everyday and quick things. Now that I think of it, perhaps the more seemingly normal but other wise insane the better.

Or things that could cause problems for Akane/Mara.

“I can’t believe we got the old man to pony up for this.” Ranma glanced at the bill once again as he exited the store into the sidewalk with Kagami near his side. He had loaned her some clothes, simple black pants and a green button up shirt, both of which were too big but created the same cute image as when he was a girl.

“It’s a lot of money.” The catgirl grimaced, shifting her purchases. “I feel bad about manipulating him like that to take his money.”

“He’ll get over it.” He nodded sagely. “Just remember all the times he’s stolen the money I earned, anything valuable I didn’t hide well enough, any food not in my mouth.”

“Still, I think we should both do something nice to thank him. He gave us so much that I could have bought another.” Kagami smiled brightly, clearly consumed by some girly notion.

“Yea that was weird.” Ranma just shrugged, not understanding why she would want to give Genma anything. “Never seen him do that before. Wonder where he got it all.”

“He does work for Dr. Tofu, and has worked at other places when I-- you were growing up. ” She pointed out helpfully.

“And he never pays for anything.” He grumbled as they both came to the same conclusion.

“Mystery solved-- I guess.”

“Wonder how much else he’s saved up over the years.” He mused, knowing that it must be a very large amount.

“He must have a good reason for saving. I’ll be sure to give him the extra back.”

“You’re going to need more than a couple school uniforms and that dress.” He pointed out.

“That’s all I have isn’t it?” The catgirl’s ears drooped. “I forgot.”

“Listen, raid my stuff whenever, but let’s see what else we can get you before we offer Pop anything back.” It felt strange to be offering someone else the use of his closet but Kagami didn’t have anything and in a strange way was himself. So if Genma of all people was going to be so generous to his new pseudo daughter then he wasn’t going to be outdone when it came to his new feline look alike sister.

"Thank you."

zx

Akane’s vision narrowed into a tunnel as she focused on Ranma and Kagami as they exited a shop that sold Furinkan school uniforms. Just the night before she had graciously loaned Kagami one of her uniforms. A gesture of trust and acceptance towards the clone who had nothing, that was being thrown back in her face.

“She tricked me.” Akane growled with her fists tightly clenched. “And he’s helping her do it.”

“Troubles?” Mara asked as she stepped in her line of sight, interrupting her train of thought before she could be fully driven into a blind, pervert smashing rage. “Oh dear!” The Demoness covered her mouth in mock shock as she turned to glance down the street towards the two Saotomes. “Have the Gods shown how hypocritical they are?”

“What do you want?” She asked slowly.

“Me? I’m here to help of course.” Mara crossed her arms. “Our job may be to cause discord in the mortal world but that doesn’t mean we have to do it to each other.”

“I’m not one of you!” Akane desperately wanted to smack around the Demoness who had caused all this.

“Tsk tsk, Akane-- you know that’s simply not true.” The blonde waved a disapproving finger in Akane’s face. “You want to get back at that conniving clone-- don’t you?”

“Of course I do, she lied to me and is spitting in my face!” She snarled but looked away from the pair, ashamed to admit that Mara was right.

“But you don’t want to go too far?” Mara patted her on the back. “Causing chaos doesn't always mean hurting humans.”

“I just want to teach them a lesson they won’t forget.” She answered. If she had to be a Demon that didn’t mean she was going to violate her morals. “So they’ll actually respect me.”

“Want me to help?” The Demoness asked seriously, seeming to be sincere for once. “If you focus on training then it should be no problem for you to get better than that Godling.”

“Okay-- but just this once.” Akane nodded, wondering if that could possibly be true. Ranma was infuriatingly good at anything he put his mind to. Could she actually be better than him at something? ‘Well-- no way to know unless I try.’

Hmm... is this Akane in character?

I'm a martial artist too you know
I am NOT jealous! *beating up Ranma*
There, Ranma, just like you wanted: A nice kitty-cat in the face!
Hmm well it looks perfect to me, insecure, jealous, and a drive to prove herself better with an ego only surpassed by Ranma himself... Yeah I can see Mara easily manipulating her this way.

Don't think badly of Akane, she's really a very sweet girl... and she's just a violent maniac.

Kagami struggled to keep her ears from flicking in annoyance as a street cleaner drove noisily towards Ranma and herself. She had enough trouble with random people thinking she was cosplaying some character and didn’t really need them realizing that she was an actual catgirl. Especially Nerima’s overly hormonal and excitable young men. Luckily the sidewalk was mostly clear, of shoppers at the moment so at least they didn’t have to deal with the crush of often out on Saturday.

Noticing that a group of three high school boys were giving her a noticeable once over, she felt her feelings twist into a distressing knot. She knew that she was attracted to men. But a lifetime of Ranma’s memories of being interested only in women and a vague disgust towards the male form was making things difficult. Actually that wasn’t right, Ranma’s disgust originated post Jusenkyo, which had been given a major booster shot by Mikado stealing his first kiss.

Looking away demurely as one of them seemed to gain enough courage to move in her direction, she quickly tried to come up with ways to politely rebuke him if he asked her to do anything. Kagami didn’t need to as the boy caught sight of Ranma next to her and quickly swerved to head towards a nearby vending machine as though he had always meant to. Depressed that he was so easily dissuaded but happy that she avoided having to clumsily crush his hopes, she tried to push it from her mind until she could think on her feelings more.

It was far easier to focus on how little she wanted to spend more money. She really did feel bad for taking money from Genma even though she could think of hundreds of incidents of her father pilfering anything and everything from Ranma. That didn’t make it right in her mind to do the same. She wanted to be better than that and if Ranma really was a God then he should aim higher as well.

‘Then again.’ She gazed longingly at a woman in her mid to late thirties wearing a beautiful white kimono with soft pink cherry blossoms decorating the sleeves and bottom, and a pale red obi. ‘I would love to have something like that to call my own.’

Having something to call her own had an incredible amount of appeal. She wanted to find her own sense of style as a way to discover more about herself. Was she really more conservative and traditional, or more plain and sporty like Ranma and Akane? Maybe she was into more modern and revealing styles like Nabiki?

‘I’ll have to borrow a few things so I can test it out.’ She decided, noticing that the woman in the kimono was lost in her own world and would be walking out in front of the street sweeper. Looking to the driver, she saw that he was distracted by something in the opposite direction.

“Ma’am! Watch out!” She called to the lady, already rushing down the sidewalk to pull her out of the way. Her attempt to warn the distracted women and help her avoid injury had the opposite effect, causing her stop and look away from the danger.

Kagami didn’t know when Ranma had seen the woman in danger, but the new God had cleared the distance with an inhumanly quick leap. Before he could even be seen, Ranma had lifted her up and out of the way back on the sidewalk. That the water coming from the street sweeper was completely blocked by Ranma’s body was a small detail as it activated his Jusenkyo curse.

Crossing the distance at a painfully slow pace, Kagami almost felt winded by the short jog as she came to a stop next to her counterpart. “Are you alright?” She asked the older woman in concern.

“I am, thank you both very much.” The woman wavered on her feet as she took a step away from the now female Ranma. “I really should really pay more attention.” She added smiling genially.

“It was no problem.” Ranma answered casually, finally noticing the change of forms and wincing.

“Oh my, you’re twins.” The woman noted in pleasant surprise.

“Well--.” She fumbled with a way to respond, not wanting to volunteer herself into Ranma’s family. Noticing right away how the woman’s eyes made their way up to Kagami’s ears.

“Uh-- yea-- twins.” Ranma nodded and reached behind her back to gather up her shirt to squeeze the muddy water from it. “Yuck.” The red head flicked her hands to try and get rid of the filth.

“Oh no! Your clothes are ruined.” The kimono clad woman fretting over Ranma’s red shirt. “These are silk too.”

“No big deal, they’ve been through worse.” Ranma waved off the woman’s concern. “I’m a martial artist, it comes with the territory.” She boasted.

“But it is a big deal! Let me repay you both. I know a nice little shop near here where I can replace your blouse.”

“You don’t have to.” Kagami said at the same time as Ranma, standing close together, and with similar postures.

“You’re both so adorable!” The woman gushed, lightly biting her lower lip, and clapping her hands together.

“Th-- thank you.” She looked away shyly, her ears swiveling back in response to her uncertainty.

“I guess if you insist.” Ranma said with a similar shy tone to her voice. “I’m Ranma by the way.”

Kagami’s eyes widened in horror at being so rude as to not introduce herself. “My name is Kagami, it’s nice to meet you.” She bowed politely to the older woman.

“Such polite young girls, it’s a pleasure to meet you as well, I’m Saotome Nodoka.” The kimono wearing woman bowed to them.

“Uh-- right.” Ranma muttered under her breath too low for Nodoka to hear.

“It shouldn’t take too long and if you have the time I would love to have company for lunch.” Nodoka smiled widely as she rushed to stand behind them and practically herded them down the sidewalk.

Like the daughters Nodoka always wanted. Except for the one wearing boys underwear. Very tomboyish. Good to see an update. I've always liked the Ranma becomes a God fics.

Invisible to everyone, a young girl sat on top of the street sweeper with her head cocked to one side in contemplation; her short legs dangling over the side. Quick violet eyes continued to watch the three figures until they were blocked by buildings before shifting her attention to the two cluelessly searching Demons following in their wake.

“I guess the game is afoot.” She smirked and kicked off her perch to land nimbly on the sidewalk, eager to cause mischief.

zx

Nodoka ushered the twin girls into a shop she frequented, a bell hanging above the glass door chiming pleasantly as it swung closed behind them. The store was smaller and for more traditional styles, the only attendant seemed to be helping someone at the change area. Looking at the twins, she couldn’t help but think they could do with something that made them look like young ladies. ‘Not tomboys dressing like boys.’ She noted, visually sizing up their matching too large male outfits.

“This looks pretty.” Kagami, the twin with the odd red furred cat accessories was already looking at a blue-green knee length dress with a white collar. “What do you think Ranma?” She asked excitedly and pulled it from the rack to hold in front of her body.

“Cute-- I guess, I’m not good with the whole clothes thing.” Ranma admitted, verifying to Nodoka that there must be a reason why the two wore such ill fitting clothes.

“It’s very nice. Why don’t you go try it on?” Nodoka nodded towards the girl.

“I don’t know.” Kagami spun the garment around and ended up checking the price tag. Her blue eyes widened dramatically. “I couldn’t.”

Reaching out, she caught the tag, and saw that it was a bit more than she had wanted to spend but this wasn’t an everyday outing. “Nonsense dear, I’m going to buy you each something.”

“Really?” Kagami asked hopefully, eyes shimmering with moisture.

Nodding, her heart went out to the pair that obviously didn’t have much in the way of money. “But maybe you and your sister should take a look around and not pick the first thing you see.” She suggested and placed her hand on Ranma’s back to encourage the less outgoing twin. Nodoka blinked several times when she didn’t feel an expected undergarment.

“Dear-- did you forget to-- wear something today?” She whispered diplomatically to the smaller red head. Visually she could tell that Kagami was wearing something but Nodoka had thought it had just been the water earlier with Ranma.

“Um-- no?” The twin blinked cluelessly at her.

“I mean, you’re not wearing a bra.” She dropped her voice even lower, knowing that some girls could be very shy about such things.

“Cause I’m a-- uh-- I don’t need one?” Ranma scratched at the back of her head and laughed nervously.

Nodoka eyed the girl dubiously. It wasn’t that the two girls were overly endowed but they were clearly in need of support as they grew into young women. “You’re a martial artist, right? Don’t you think you would be more comfortable?”

“Nah I’m fine, all I need is just a little hot water.” The red head boasted with another titter of laughter.

“Well--.” Nodoka struggled to figure out what meaning the strange phrasing actually meant. “How does your mother feel about this?”

“Wouldn’t know, I’ve never met my mom.” Ranma answered, looking away introspectively.

‘This explains so much!’ Nodoka felt terrible for the pair, assuming that neither had had the proper motherly guidance that they should have had in their lives. “And your father?” She asked, trying to find out more.

The girl with three blue tattoos on her face looked lost in thought for a moment. “He’d probably say something stupid about it being training.”

‘No mother and an abusive father.’ Nodoka concluded sadly. She would need to speak with Kagami to find out the proper measurements so she could surprise the girl who had rescued her with yet another gift. “I’m sorry for asking personal questions. Please forget I said anything.”

One of Ranma’s eyebrows rose before she shrugged. “Okay.”

“Ranma! Ranma! How do these look?” Kagami asked excitedly, trying to hold several blouses, skirts, and dresses up against her body while still holding onto the bag with her new school uniform in one hand. “What about this? This purple one maybe? How about this dress?”

Watching the tattooed redhead struggle to respond with wide panicky eyes, Nodoka decided to step in. “They all look nice, dear. Why don’t you two divide them up and go use the fitting rooms to see how they look?”

“Do you want to, Ranma?” Kagami all but bounced in place, but asked as though the question may thoroughly offend her sister.

“I guess if it’ll help you pick.” Ranma answered, her voice full of trepidation.

“Thank you!” The cat girl grabbed her sister and dragged her towards the back of the shop.

Nodoka smiled as she watched the pair, feeling wonderful that she would get to help the poor girls. ‘And it’s great that Kagami-chan seems to be making progress breaking her poor abused sister out of her shyness. Such a daring young girl to wear that complicated cat costume.’

Ranma pursed her lips in thought as she stared at herself in the mirror. ‘I’m not much for this kind of thing.’ Cramped as she was in the small dressing room, she felt even more penned in by agreeing to help Kagami with picking something for the nice lady to buy. ‘For me too.’ She didn’t want to seem rude by declining the woman’s offer even if it was making her uncomfortable.

‘Three shirts and a pair of dresses.’ She had thought Kagami had grabbed more. It certainly felt like more.

Putting off following through with her agreement, Ranma leaned in close to the mirror to rub at the blue crescent underneath her left eye. The visible signs of her ascension were so small that she nearly forgot they were there.

'I'll just make sure to get stuff that Kagami can use if this lady is so dead set on buying stuff.' Ranma decided, having little overall use for everyday female clothing. Stripping off her damp shirt down to her tank top, she should at least see if the things Kagome had grabbed would fit, she was interrupted by a voice from outside.

"Ranma-chan, do you mind if I come in?" Nodoka's question was more of a statement as she didn't wait for a response before parting the curtain to enter the small changing area. "I found something else you can use." She happily announced and presented Ranma with a plain full coverage white bra as though it was an amazing gift.

"Um-- I don't really need one of those." Ranma shifted uneasily, not wanting to inadvertently insult the nice woman.

"A thin tank top is no substitute for proper support." Nodoka sternly told her and all but shoved the feminine garment into Ranma's hands. "I know it's not the hip style all you young girls like to wear but I'm sure you'll be much happier with it until you can find something more you."

'Nothing would be more-- me.' She didn't voice that objection and simply smiled vacantly hoping that she would go away allowing her to get this over with. "Well-- thanks."

Nodoka seemed to realize something was amiss because she suddenly started to fret with her hands. "I'm sorry dear, I know being doted on by some stranger must make you feel uncomfortable."

"No, it's alright. Just-- really Kagami is the one who really needs attention." Laughing nervously, she hoped that the cat girl hadn't heard that.

"I'm sure." The woman nodded, sounding oddly sarcastic and sincere at the same time. "I suppose I should leave you to get changed, I'll be just outside if you need anything. Oh-- did you want me to try and find anything else you may like?"

"I'm fine." She answered, noticing for the first time how desperately lonely the nice woman sounded. “Thank you-- though.”

"Remember, just outside the door." Nodoka reiterated and backed out of the curtained area.

'I wonder what's up with her?' She scratched at the back of her head with a free hand before shrugging off the odd feeling to take stock of the bra in her other hand. 'Yikes, this is way too big. What made her think this would fit me at all?' Idly holding it up to her chest, she blinked several times in realization that the cups almost looked too small. 'Were they always this big?'

zx

Nodoka struggled to reign in her excitement without allowing how lonely she felt from coming out. Neither of the adorable twins needed to know that she hadn't seen her husband or son for well over a decade. Or that the infrequent letters from her husband had stopped abruptly months ago. All she wanted was to spend an hour or two and get to play at being the mother she was never allowed to be for her son.

'Someday my Ranma will come home and he'll be an adult and so manly that he won't even need a mother. But, I gave up that role long ago. I need to be strong and fulfill my oaths. I just wish I could spend a day being a mother-- maybe even preparing a nice home cooked meal for two girls who obviously have a difficult life-- would that be too much to ask for?'

zx

Mara looked around in confusion at the growing number of humans in the street, having no clue where the god and worthless clone had gone off to. She had been too busy trying to plot what they were going to do to them with her student to keep track. "I know, If I just make a big explosion they'll all shove off!" She finally decided the best way to clear out all the humans and attract her query in one fell swoop.

"Idiot! You can't just blow stuff up." Akane groaned in disgust at her genius plan.

"And you have a better way to find them?" She asked sarcastically. Unused to having anyone question her brilliance openly.

"Ranma only likes martial arts, food, and being an egotistical jerk. Obviously they found some place to scam food. We just have to find the nearest store selling sweets and I guarantee they'll be there!" The new Demon loudly explained.

"Good job, my student!" She laughed heartily, amazed how how clever the short haired girl could be. Her laughter died when she felt someone tug roughly on her own long blonde locks.

“Ah! You got the nice hair, keiki.” A man skin so tanned it may as well be leather exclaimed as he continued to rub her hair between his fingers. He wore thick opaque sunglasses and sprouting from a shaggy bowl cut of brown hair was a tiny palm tree. Dressed in a brightly colored Hawaiian shirt and crop pants, the man stood out like a sore thumb.

“Excuse you!” Mara rudely snorted and slapped the man’s hand away. “Just who do you think you are?”

“So rude o’ me! Forgettin to introduce meself! Aloha! I be the big kahuna of de Furinkan High!” The brightly dressed man introduced with a heavy accent.

“Big kahuna?” Akane asked in confusion.

“De Principal, little keiki.”

“Oh-- I didn’t even know we had a Principal.” The new Demon added absently.

“You be a student at me school?” He asked intensely hopeful and Akane nodded in response.

“Who cares?” Mara scoffed and grabbed her student by the sleeve to start pulling her in the direction the God and clone had wandered off in. “We got more important things to worry about.”

“Now hold on dere, waihini!” The darkly tanned man hopped in front of her with both hands behind his back. “Dis be very important, but I gonna let you be ahead o’ de curve! All da other little keiki’s gonna be jealous!” His hands snapped forward to reveal that he was holding small metal devices in each hand.

“Eh? What are those?” Mara asked curiously at the odd mortal items.

“They look like old fashioned hair clippers.” Akane pointed out.

“Why just da most important tools for any big kahuna!” The man giggled madly.

That ending part with Principal Kuno and the disastrously unwarned demonesses is a lot like watching a busboy with a teetering 6' stack of dirty dishes stagger inexorably towards a patch of greasy linoleum. You can see the imminent catastrophe and also that no event with any reasonable chance of actually happening is likely to stop it.

Still, it’s likely to be awesomely hilarious when it does finally go pear-shaped.)

Well this is Mara and Akane's no good horrible bad day. So I do need some more things for them to run across while Ranma/Kagami have a nice day with Nodoka, all three remaining oblivious to any relation.

Well that is the general thought process. With Urd coming in at the end to explain what a good job her perfect little student has been doing.

I'm trying to think of other ways that Ranma could inadvertently spread happiness and joy.

So far the best I got is to blatantly rip-off a Dresden Files short...

*edit*

I guess... in each scene have Ranma do some nice small thing for one person. Something that he wouldn't even bother to remember doing. Something that the audience wouldn't bother to remember. All of which will be latter revealed by Urd to have resulted in some greater good.

Maybe he drops some money in a tip jar. That a poor cashier needed to pay rent that very day.

He compliments a struggling artist's work. Drawing the attention of a wealthy and/or influential buyer.

He holds the door of a bus/train open. Allowing someone to make an appointment that CANNOT be missed. (an important job, being able to be at a dieing loved ones side in their last moments, etc).

He stops a kid from running past when the crosswalk is red. Saving the child's life and preventing the downward spiral and collapse of his family.

He inadvertantly gives a chef a recipe idea.

He " gives a suicidal person an ego boost and second thoughts.

He saves the local Building and Loan by handing a salaryman a dropped envelope.

He brings two star-crossed lovers together...

If I think of more, I'll let you know.

Mara and Akane could run into Pantyhose Taro, right? I mean, the episode where Ranma meets his mom is like forty episodes later than when Taro is introduced. Perhaps Happosai wants Mara's underthings and has told Taro if he can get it from a demon he'll rename the poor sod (possibly something even more humiliating than it already is.) Or maybe Mousse thinks one of them is Shampoo and the other is Ranma on a date with her? Or, Kodachi and Tatewaki come to battle the hair-chopping menace that is their father only to lead to more and crazier hijinks?

Oh, I did have more.

====

Kagami felt like she was walking on a cloud of air and might float away at any moment if her arms weren’t loaded down with her earlier purchase and now a second with the clothes she had borrowed from Ranma this morning. Since she was now wearing a combination green blouse with a tight tank top under a sheer three quarter sleeved outer layer. While her tail was an issue, she had picked out a pleated black skirt down that ended just above her knees. She thought it looked cute and decided to use it as a mental and physical training exercise to keep her tail from flipping it up.

Ranma shuffled out of the store with less enthusiasm but more than she had expected her pseudo twin to show at shopping for clothes. She was wearing a simple knee length dress with a conservative neckline in a sea green gradient that was darker on the bottom and lighter near the top. Nodoka had even commented that similarly colored clothing color made them look even more like twins.

“Are you feeling alright?” She discreetly whispered to the other redhead now that they had a moment of relative privacy with Nodoka still inside paying. “I didn’t expect you to go along with this.”

“It’s making that lady happy. Plus you’ll end up getting another outfit. So I can live with it for an afternoon.” The Goddess answered with a contemplative look on her face before shrugging indifferently.

“Alright, but if it makes you too uncomfortable, please don’t do it for my sake.” She gently instructed, hoping that Ranma hadn’t solidified the idea in his head that he had to help her. Knowing how stubborn he could be once he set his mind on a task.

“Ah come on, we got good taste, I bet I could really go scam the food vendors dressed up like this.” Ranma boasted with a big laugh.

“Did I miss a good joke?” Nodoka asked with a large but strained smile, appearing behind them without a sound.

“It wasn’t a very good one.” Kagami answered, not liking that Ranma used her cute looks to cheat gullible young men. “I don’t know how we can thank you for your generosity.” She added and bowed respectfully to the woman.

“There’s no need to thank me, I’m sure you girls deserve some necessities as well as a bit of pampering.” The woman fretted with her hands before she let off a soft sigh. “But I’m sure I’ve ruined any plans you had for this morning and I don’t want to hold you up anymore.”

“Nah, you didn’t ruin anything. Thank you very much. You’ve been really nice to us.” Ranma said gratefully and bowed her head respectfully to the woman.

“Yes, thank you very much.” Kagami quickly followed the Goddess, feeling immensely indebted to this wonderful woman for giving her such expensive gifts.

Nodoka gasped happily. “You’re both so adorable.” She gushed before getting control of herself and returning their bows. “I hope you two have a wonderful day.”

“Um-- hold on a second.” Kagami chewed on her lower lip before tugging on her progenitor’s sleeve. “Ranma, do you think anyone would mind if we invited her over for dinner?” She whispered.

“I wouldn’t think so.” Ranma answered, her eyes glancing skywards as she considered it. “Feels like rain.” She mumbled under her breath.

Kagami ignored Ranma’s comment on the weather to turn back towards the nice woman. “Nodoka-san, would you like to come over for dinner? So we can thank you?”

“Thank you, but I couldn’t possibly impose upon you. But-- maybe you would like to come to my home?” Nodoka chuckled nervously before continuing. “I always prepare so much that I feel awful for wasting.”

“We couldn’t.” She quickly responded, this nice woman had already done so much for her and her pseudo sibling.

“Hold on a second.” This time Ranma pulled her a short distance away.

“You can’t possibly want to accept.” She whispered quickly, horrified that Ranma would want to continue to take advantage of such a generous lady.

“I got a feeling.” Ranma answered like it explained everything.

“You have a feeling?” She asked flatly.

“What? She seems pretty lonely and if she won’t come back to the Tendo’s for dinner, why not take up her offer?” The Goddess shrugged liked that was a perfectly good explanation.

Kagami sighed and admitted to herself that it wasn’t that bad of reasoning. But she felt awful at the idea that they were taking advantage of such a nice woman. Then again, considering what had happened last night between her and Akane, it might be best to not be at the Tendos for awhile. Nodding to Ranma she turned back to an expectant Nodoka. “So long as we can help with everything, that sounds wonderful.”

Nodoka looked between them quickly before an ecstatic smile spread across her face. “You want to help me in the kitchen?” She asked hopefully.

Kagami nodded again in response, not really paying attention to Ranma if she was disagreeing.

“Better help than Akane.” Ranma whispered to herself.

The kimono clad woman’s eyes shimmered with emotion before she composed herself. “Then I guess we’ll need to go get some proper ingredients.”

Had a chance to go through and read part of this and make some suggestions in the Google Doc. Have some work I've been procrastinating on though that I need to finish up now, so I'll need to leave it at that. Will try and come back later, since this is one of my favorites among your stories.

I really like the interaction between the three. Doesn't Ranma have any suspicions as to who Nodoka might be?
