"Tenth! Are you really going?" Gokudera Hayato, the Smoking Bomber, the Vongola Storm Guardian and self-proclaimed right-hand man of the Tenth Leader of the Vongola Family, could only watch as his Leader and friend placed his luggage into the black car.
"I have to Gokudera-kun. Granny said she needed help, and since everyone else has gone on personal business, I figure I can use this chance to take advantage of the brief moment of peace so I can focus on my studies."
Sighing, Gokudera nodded as he helped place the last of the suitcases into the trunk.
"Besides.. you're going to Italy with Bianchi to settle family matters, aren't you?" Smiling softly at his friend, the Tenth patted Gokudera on the shoulder. "I'll be fine. Reborn will be with me as always... and after XANXUS, I should be able to take care of myself till everyone finishes what they are doing. I even gave everyone the address of where I'm staying. Just promise me one thing Gokudera-kun."
Glancing up at the Tenth, Gokudera nodded. "Anything Tenth, you name it and I'll do it!"
"Come back safe and watch over Lambo while he's training with the Bovino Family. Fuuta as well while he's at the main Vongola Mansion. I want everyone to come back safely so we can watch fireworks together again, k?"
Touched by his leader's kindness, Gokudera nearly broke down to tears as he nodded. "Even if it means taking care of that stupid cow, I'll do it Tenth, I'll even lay down my life to make sure everyone comes back, as safely as possible!"
Sweating a bit, the Tenth could only shake his head as he poked Gokudera on the forehead. "You can't 'lay down your life' safely you know. Just make sure everyone comes back and settle your family business properly. I'm asking this as your friend, Gokudera-kun, not your boss."
Nodding, Gokudera stood at attention. "I, Gokudera Hayato, stake my position as Right-Hand Man of the Tenth on returning as quickly as possible! Take care, Tenth!"
Chuckling, the Tenth nodded and waved before taking one last look at his house. Letting out a long sigh, he entered the car and looked to the driver, a man who was personally sent by his friend Dino of the Chiavorone Family. "Hinata Hot Springs please."
As the car began its journey, the Tenth turned to the baby at his side. "Reborn, why do you think Granny wanted me to go in the first place? I know she's busy traveling around on Vongola business with Kanako...."
The only response he received was a snot bubble appearing out of Reborn and Leon's noses, the chameleon on his hat always seeming to match its owner at times like this.
Shaking his head, Urashima Keitaro the Tenth Leader of the Vongola Family looked down on the ring on his left middle finger and smiled. "Well... whatever the reason.. it has to be quieter than Namimori..."
As Keitaro watched the world pass by through the window, he missed the slight smirk that crossed the supposedly sleeping Reborn's face.

The trip itself was fairly uneventful, Keitaro having kept himself busy by going over flash cards to keep his mind sharp.
"Vongola-sama.... pardon me for asking, but why are you going all the way out here?" asked the driver. "I know its not my place to say so.... but you are going to unknown territory without any of your guardians save Reborn-sama."
Glancing up from his flashcards, Keitaro chuckled. "it's alright, I don;t mind... My grandmother asked me to come here to help her out with something. Since its an Inn owned by her, that would mean it would be considered Vongola Territory, right? I doubt anything will happen to me. As for why... well, to tell the truth... because of everything that happened this year, I missed an important exam. So I'm hoping a change in scenery will allow me to study better and actually reach the exam this time."
"But then.. .what about your territory in Namimori?"
"I'm not too worried about it... Hibari-san has been protecting Namimori even before I became the Tenth, and he's younger than I am. That... and I'm kind of hoping that with me not there, the usual trouble won't affect things there." Chuckling, Keitaro leaned back against the seat and looked out the window again. "Course.. that m ight mean things'll follow me here... but for some reason I have a good feeling..."
The rest of the car trip passed in silence as Keitaro's thoughts drifted. Familiar scenery he had not seen in many years brought with it memories.... memories of a girl, a sandbox... and a promise.
"... This year... I'll definitely reach Toudai...."

Well, I like the way this started alot better. Now I just needed to rewrite the arrival and meeting scenes before continuing. Any kind of C&C will be much appreciated.
