World of Darkness: New York V2.0

Yo.

As the one game I'm in that's still running is currently on a hiathus, I figured it was time to find something else RPG:ish to amuse myself with for the time being.

I thought about reopening my WoD:NY game, but that's one big-ass setting which could get pretty darn overwhelming and too freakishly large to adequately control.

I do like the setting however and I will be using that, but I will limit the playing field quite a bit, instead of allowing every single critter and their uncles as playable characters. I will be using the 2.0 WoD setting, pre all this Gehenna/Apocalypse/Ascension-crap that spawned such horrors as VtR which seriously mucked things up.

So, only vampires ( thick and thin-blooded, Camarilla, Sabbat or Anarch ), ghouls, dhampyrs and perhaps a couple mere mortals will allowed as player characters.

I'll still keep the rest of the creatures around, but only as NPC's who'll plot'n scheme in the background whenever the PC's aren't interacting with them in some manner.

What I'd like to do here is poll the interest for such a thing here on TFF. Is this something that would be of interest to anyone but me and my fellow players currently suffering from Sodium Noir-withdrawal. :)

I, personally, am very interested in this, although I sadly know little to nothing about it save for a friend of mine that's into doing VtM games. Aside from what he's told me I don't know anything about it other than the basic concepts so I would need it explained to me, but besides that I am extremely interested in trying it out. So you've got my vote of support.

I've never played it. If you can give me a little insight, I may be pre-empted to join up.

Seems pretty interesting. I'm in, if it gets approved.

So, how does it work, do we play here in the forum? IMing? or do all of us drive around the country until we find your house? Depending on the answer, I might be interested.

Also, does this involve spending money?

I'll probably play if i can be a werewolf or human, please say I can play a werewolf as I feel like letting some poor sod feel the effects of "Incite Delerium".

On the forum. IM only really works when everybody is in the same time zone or are at least able to be online at the same time.

Driving around the country to my place? Well, heck, if any of you are ever in Sweden and in the Nyk÷ping region, you're all welcome to come on by for a cup of coffee, a cold beer or whatever. But it might be a bit impractical for an ongoing campaign where we've got participants from all over the world. :)

Only in so far that you need a computer with internet access and that usually costs money.

Humans and Ghouls are okay, but otherwise it's all-vampire for the players.

Cool.

I gots a character sketched out already.

Detective Sergeant Edgar "Ed" O'Malley, NYPD

Character Type: Ghoul (Toreador)

Age: 37

Description: Brown eyes, black hair, looks uncannily like JFK.

Bio: Ed O'Malley thought he'd seen it all, working Homicide for the NYPD. That was, until one hot summer night in the Bronx, when he interrupted what he thought was a mugging and attempted rape by two hoodlums. He was stabbed in the shoulder and lost a bit of blood, then things got confused for him...

I was mainly refering to books that I need to know how to play, or do you have somewhere I can just download them from?

And you don't need to buy a computer, that's what libraries are for!

...That and a way to lose hundreds of dollars...

The interweb is filled with possible download loccations for whatever our black little hearts might desire. If it's possible to find pictures of girls being fucked by goats, then it shouldn't be all that hard to find some White Wolf e-books. I'm guessing that eMule or DC++ should do the trick.

But as forum gaming tends to be more along the lines of round-about free-form-writing then any sort of RPG tabletop experience with dices and strict rulings, the rulebooks aren't really necessary.

This sounds interesting! I'd like to join in if it isn't too late. Just one thing, what are those subdivions for the vampires mean? (thin blood, sabbat, etc)

A "Thin-Blood" is a Kindred (vampire) that, amongst other things, cannot Embrace humans.

The Sabbat are a sect of Kindred who believe that humans are cattle, play-things, etc. They are opposed by the Camarilla.

The Camarilla is the main Vampire Society, which enforces the Masquerade (A code of Conduct and Law to prevent humans from finding out that vampires are real.)

Anarchs, as the name suggests, don't belong to the Camarilla or the Sabbat.

Ghouls are humans who have drunk the vitae (sort of like blood) of a Kindred at least three times, and grown addicted to it. They do a lot of the Grunt work.

The Embrace is the act of turning a human into a vampire. They drink your blood, then give the one who is to be Embraced some of their vitae, basically.

I'd be interested in playing a true Indep Toreador or Malk. Will we be using tabletop or MET rules as the basis?

Tabletop. Though refering to them as 'rules' might be a tad too strict a term. Like mentioned earlier, it's more like free-form writing then actual tabletop rpg:ing with dices rolling'n stuff.

That's what I expected, it's just that the tabletop definitions of Disciplines are somewhat different than the MET ones. The classic example is Awe (1st level Presence).
