So, Legion's pre-patch has come out, and those of you who are on the fence or just wondering what Blizzard's putting in (or fucked up), I thought I'd start a new thread. Mostly because I didn't feel the others were relevant enough or far too old to necro, but also to let those who were waiting for Legion know about a few things.
A - Class buffs are gone. Just gone. On the bright side, neither you nor anyone else has to remember to buff/rebuff after entering a dungeon/raid or after a wipe. On the downside, I feel a bit sad because one of the things I liked doing was tossing buffs onto random lowbies to make their lives a tiny bit easier for a while.
B - Hunter pets are now largely homogenized, meaning that, aside from the special ones like Quillen or the Spirit Beasts of Pandaria (who retain their ability to rez others), there's no longer a reason to get another pet aside from aesthetics. However, once Legion drops, some mechanical beasts will be tameable.
C - Account bound items have been given a new unique color: light blue.
D - You can now collect the appearances of items for transmog so you don't have to retain the actual item. However, there are some caveats to this:
1. You can't collect an appearance if your class does not use/wear it at level cap. Warriors, for example, can't collect Mail appearances. Shirts are an exemption to this rule, because they're not actual gear.
2. The appearance is gained if it becomes soulbound to you, meaning you won't be able to AH or trade it. You can still vendor it once you have the appearance.
3. If you look at an item, text at the bottom will indicate if you have already collected that appearance. This applies even to the adventurer's guide which DOES now cover every dungeon in the game and lists all potential loot from bosses.
4. You no longer disable cape or helmets in the settings. You have to do so at a Transmogrifier. The one on the Grand Expedition Yak will do as well.
5. You can actually transmog weapon enchants onto your weapons, but like everything else, you need to collect the enchant effects. I _BELIEVE_ Enchanters can do this with a new item.
EDIT: 6. You still can't transmog legendary weapons.
Rumor? I've heard that if you complete a quest, you get all of the item appearances from that quest. I have yet to test this, but if true, that means a lot less work. However, I believe it might only work with quests that you complete now that the Pre-Patch is in.
E. All of your talents have been changed and almost every class has had some sort of trimming to their abilities.
F. Garrison rewards have been heavily nerfed, likely to drive players out of their Garrisons and into their new Class Halls. Blingtron's Secret Vault gives out a random follower item upgrade item, which themselves have been nerfed, worth only copper now instead of gold. So, Blingtron's Secret Vault went from being worth 1000+ gold to being worth 5 copper. Salvage Yard has also been nerfed. The bags and boxes largely give out garrison resources and various things that relevant to WoD, like the herbs and ores. You might still get the occasional transmoggable item, but it will be VERY rare.
G. A good number of items are now toys.
H. The Profession Windows (the non-Archaeology ones at least) are now quite different and, for now, seem quite a bit more efficient.
I. There's been yet another stat squish. Remember this when you go to do mechanics-based fights like the royal insect trio in AQ40 as you can bug out said encounter by reducing all three to 1 HP in a single AoE.
J. They've removed the AOE damage cap. For those who don't know, a damage limit was placed on AoEs in Wrath to stop people from pulling entire instances and then nuking them down with stacked AoEs. You can, once again, clear an entire instance in one burst (if you were able to before).
I'll be back with more info later if anyone is interested. I'll be slowly going over how the major shifts in skills and abilities feels as I slowly try out my various characters.
